I guess trolls have nothing better to do with their time.

It's disturbing and probably will be quite damaging.

Or players who care are actually voicing their opinions about what they see in the game.

How many of the reviewers actually played their first two games and transferred over their characters into ME3. I suspect many of them didn't and are treating ME3 as a single installment when it should be weighed as a continuation of the other two in terms of Decision Impact and Character creation.

Yes because anyone that doesn't worship the ground you walk on or completely love every detail of every product you put out is a troll.

No, but everybody who gives the game bade score just because they hate BioWare is a troll. Do you seriusly think ME3 deservs a score of 2.2 out of 10?

Look at the top score 10/10. It literally just says "Gay Pride" over and over again. That is not much more objective than the 0 scores.

I find the user review in the middle (5/10) to be the most objective as it contains actual argumentation.

PC Gamer gives the game a high score but says that the story is lacking or doesn't make sense in places. For me that is a fatal flaw along with the auto dialog that prevents roleplaying outside of main decisions. The series has almost made a 180° direction change from where it started and the hate is hardly surprising, specially since this is a trillogy with one main character all the way through.

ME2 did not get such a harsh user treatment eventhough it was highly controversal as well.

It's easy to call everyone with negative feedback trolls and haters, but the big picture suggests that Bioware and EA have completely moved onto unstable territory with DA2 and ME3. Many design decisions are asking for fan rage. That was really not necessary.

The fact that most "fans" can't distinguish bad from different is the exact reason why user reviews are so useless.  I don't want to hear people working out their own dysfunctions through metacritic, I want to know if this is actually a good game or not.  If you feel betrayed every time a company tries something different with a franchise that's terrific, but leave it out of your review if you want to be taken seriously.

I want to know what the game accomplishes and where it falls short.  It sounds like what we have is better gameplay and lighter story elements than previous games.  It sounds like the game itself is on-par with it's predecessors but with different emphasis.  Note the things you don't like but rate the game objectively or don't bother.

He is more likely to like it over ME2.
As it's a step up from there.

So ... these professional reviews played the game to the end and liked the ending?

Movies I like happy endings. Books I like happy endings. Call me crazy, but after a 3 game trilogy I would like a happy ending, otherwise I feel like everything I was just playing for was a total waste of time. Am I just totally in left field for wanting that?

I guess I can't say more about it because that would be spoiler, but I can't believe these pro reviews never hit on this at all.

Face. Code. Issue.

???????

There's a pretty big chance that the issue didn't arise in the first place; there's no guarantee a given player never altered their imported face in Mass Effect 2, or even imported at all depending on which version they played. It's also quite likely a given reviewer just doesn't care... because frankly, only more dedicated BioWare fans get pissy about stuff like this.

I note that he uses the default face in his video review, the IGN guy does. And a good portion of the players who play as MaleShep tend to do that, because of the facemaker's shortcomings. So I'm actually not surprised it isn't mentioned, whether they intentionally avoided the issue or not.

Or they just don't feel the same way you do. A lot of people can appreciate all kinds of endings. Some are so cynical that they actually dislike happy endings--why that is, is a mystery not even God could solve. The only objective thing about the ending that should really be brought up in any kind of review is the writing and structure of it; I don't object to people mentioning they don't like the ending because it's a downer, but that's not what you take points off for. If you think a point or two should be cut from the score because you find parts of the ending CONTRIVED, however, that's another matter altogether.

I find it hard to believe that the percentage of people playing this game (or reviewing it) are that cynical.  I greatly appreciate different endings.  DAO gave me all kinds of endings.  But with a game of this scope, finishing a three game trilogy, I just can't see how BioWare justified writting the endings for just cynical people.  I understand a lot of people also don't care.  They got to kill a bunch of things going from point A to point B on a bunch of cool looking maps.  They're happy so you could give them any ending you want.  I'm just, well not that way.

So, what you're saying is that the only reason someone might not like 'happy' endings is that he's cynical... right? No other reason at all? 100%, undeniably cynical?

No and tbh that's my fear too. There is obviously alot of bias vs Bioware because 'fans' or something don't like the general direction and they will do anything to harm Bioware. I am really not **** or fanboy but this is taking it too far. Like other things recently. Faith in humanity vanishing.

Maybe it is best for everyone if the world really ends in 2012 (jkImage IPB).

So I decide to look through the user reviews?

A user called "Ashleyisaman" has posted a 0 review, and posts some hilariously stupid spoilers, including "ashley is a tranny"

Another user posts a long and well written argument against the game. I look through his post, ignoring the rest. "Soundtrack - the soundtrack often sounds like someone "inexpertantly" pressing random keys (not on piano BTW)"

Yep, the internet sucks.

And yet you continue to 'donate' that metacritic page hits by checking and referencing it, even if just to come back here and bash it. No wonder that publishers take that pile of crap seriously, if it's got a gazillion hits and a big flashing number that grades their product.

People don't like it when reviewers have opinions that differ from theirs because it is the critical reviews that get the most weight behind them. This game has several flaws that bring it down; I would rate it at around an 8.5/10, which I think is a reasonable score considering it does several things exceedingly well.

But the issue is that when these reviews basically orgasm over the game and give it neigh-perfect reviews, it makes the issues important to us- the endings, seeming lack of dialogue choice at times, etc- seem like the ravings of ****s.

It isn't the case. While I don't think some people have responded as well as they should have, it is because they are devoted fans who have spent untold hours in this series only to see certain important factors to them lessened. And when a reviewer tries telling people that it's better than the rest/at least as good, some may get a little angry. They don't like feeling as though their concerns are baseless.

I think it is on the same level as the previous two games, 8.5-9.5 with the difference coming in personal style preference. They are all very solid, very well done, and flawed all the same.

But saying that 51 reviews from all over the world saying its a great game are just people kissing up to Bioware is a little paranoid.

Majority of the negative reviews there are from newly created accounts or ones that have never even reviewed a game there before. Take that as you will.

Yeah, maybe it would be better since the majority of humanity becomes more and more passive, not fighting for their interests and just accepting everything. Specially when those who want improvement or oppose degeneration are being rediculed as trolls and haters. While there are many overreactions and some people are so full of hate and that they lose all objectivity it is wrong to generalize everyone who doesn't love Biowares new direction.

There is always a reason (although often through misunderstandings) for strong emotions such as hate. Bioware had this comming and the complete lack of admitting problems even after DA2s failure makes this whole change of direction, with resulting hate appear like a calculated business decision. Until all former fans have been replaced with new fans that have lower expecations.
