Game Informer: 10/10.

Just throwing this out there... I can't remember the last time they gave out a 10/10, and I've been reading GI for years now.

It's been a while so that's a pretty impressive feat for Mass Effect 3.

More like a testament to how deep EA's pockets are....

Oh yeah because Mass Effect 2 got a 10 as well. Oh wait...it didn't.

Didn't mention it. I wonder if they didn't import at all (I know the "review in progress" mentioned he was playing predominantly in a "fresh" game without an import) or if he always used the default Shepard or if he somehow didn't have issues.

Well the video review shows Xbox gameplay and he said he was saving the import for xbox. But I can't lie i'm pretty ignorant to this issue if you played ME2 and imported ur ME1 face in there why is importing from 1 to 3 a problem?

it shows mostly pc version...wich ofc it is the best version..
no frames,better controls etc etc

I took a look at the Metacritic User Scores.

Good Lord!

2/3 of it is well, spambot bots talking about taxes and operating systems. The rest are obviously written by actual people, except it still reads like mindless rambling to me.

Really, what's the point of giving people a stage to express their opinion if only hooligans and drunkards show up to scream and fart in the mic? Metacritic ME3 User Reviews reads like an un-moderated spambot-filled forum.

Vox Populi is overrated.

Well, Dragon Age 2's official reviews disagree with your sarcasm.

79% on 360? I'd hardly call that unequivocal praise.

It was well in the 90s when it came out.

It's sub-80 on 360 (which has the most reviews). And sub-80 in gaming world means avarage at best. So no, you ain't right

I'm seeing a pattern here.

Lets start fresh, abd lets try "everyman" approach... to avoid talking about problems with decisions and face codes import.

With all the auto-dialogue and lack of complementary responses in a RPG! mode we surely get more vivid and cinematic experience... but didnt we lose the 'choice making' part of the franchise which was so alluring in the first place?

I think major sites will go easy on ME3 just to fit with the fanbase and not to gat a backlash from the reader and communities alike. Its safe to oscilate around nine-tish score and give it a pass than to speak about shortcomings and problems.
Worrying tendencies I see here.

I am still very sceptic as to buy it. I read the reaviews and confront it with friends opinions. And some of the discrepancies of the marketing, slogans and lack of info about certain features is making me think twice.

I really wanted that game. I enjoyed the series so far, so what happened? Why the ugly gut feeling?

Yeah, it got a 9.75.......HUGE difference.

EA needs to get some perfect scores. They have to try to drown out anybody who claims it's as bad or worse than DA2.

I guess trolls have nothing better to do with their time.

It's disturbing and probably will be quite damaging.

While I definitely don't agree with targeted mass low-votes such as this, I can understand peoples frustration.  I'm sure it has to do mainly with the import bug.  Can you really blame them?  Did BioWare think that by ignoring the pleas of their fans (for well over a week now) that this glaring flaw would be overlooked and swept under the rug?  Yes, blame lies with the people responsible for this undeserved low rating, but I think some of the blame also lies with BioWare IMO.  They had the power to curb some of the panic but they didn't.  Long time fans feel betrayed and rightfully so.

All BW needed to do was say something; a few words acknowleding this issue.  Anything at all, but BioWare has neglected to do so.  As far as I'm concerned BioWare has made their bed, and with all do respect Mr. Lee, I will definitely be more guarded when it comes to future purchases from your company.  I sincerely hope that both sides have learned something positive out of this kerfuffle.  That's all I have to say about that.

Gamespot's user review section is much better. Not sure why, but it's much more "consistent" there.

Yeah, 1.8/10 for User Reviews...Yeah sorry, to many trolls to be trustable.

I go to neogaf and read the impressions there. Way more solid opinions that journalists.

It will balance out once more people start posting their reviews. The gaming press hands out 9s like candy so gamespot or IGN giving ME3 a 9 or 9.5 or w/e is pretty meaningless (to me).

Reading people's impressions on forums (preferably "neutral" forums) is the best way to know. And reading *actual* user reviews, which will pour in soon enough. Not one liners with a 0.

This is true.

And regardless of how people want to claim that it's the rabid fanboys that's tanking the metacritic user score for ME3, one should look at other AAA titles like Fallout 3 that had a very polarized fanbase and wonder how a game like that managed a 7.8 user score.

I'd give it a week or so and wait for people that actually played the game to completion to post their opinions, but if a couple of weeks from now the user score still reflects badly on the game then it will be a pretty clear indication of what fans really thought of the game.

The difference pre and post embargo was astounding. Not seeing that with ME3 which is a good sign. I'd stick ME3 somewhere around 85% vs DA2's 40% but it depends hugely on how you feel about certain things like autodialogue/forced unexplained endings etc.

It seems troll reviews at meta critic are becoming a trend, which started with MW3...(in that case they were right IMO). Now every major release has below average scores because of 4chan idiots or desperate fanboys that are crying about minor features being cut from the games... Pathetic

Goddamnit I always forget to rate on metacritic, so I accidentally gave it a 10/10.

Not that it really matters, the numbers are so unrepresentable. What matters is my review.

10/10...? Seriously? I mean, really?

So we have "perfection" here? A fully fledged Story driven game with RPG elements, greatly fleshed out characters and dialogue, intense action, sharp AI, next gen graphics?

We have a "Myst", Planescape Torment" and "Fallout New Vegas" hybrid here?

How about "no".

With what I have seen so far, and I havent seen anything but the demo, which I have come to realize is symptomatic for at least the first couple of hours of gameplay, that does not make a "10/10" game. Because thats damn near perfection.

And thats why I do not trust reviews from major gaming magazines, but lean toward what my own ilk with background in pen and paper tells me.

Dont get me wrong. ME3 might be great. But 10/10?

honestly, user rating should be disabled for at least a week after release, that way it would ensure people have actually played and completed at least 1 playthrough before posting any comments, good or bad.

and this whole nonsense about how they have little to no conversational choices, STOP PLAYING ACTION MODE.. and just because some want to be a rambo and solo destroy reapers with flowers and pretty shiny rainbows at the end does not make it a bad game. not to mention all the other stupid comments i have read so far.

I really dislike people who make fatalistic comments about a book/game/whatever after only reading the first page/first mission and so forth, plus a whole load of 'leaked rumours' and think they have all the information to make an educated and honest review of any given product.

No game is perfect, but that doesn't mean no game ever deserves a perfect score. Otherwise, there'd be no point in having a maximum score at all.

Done.

Wait, nothing changed.

Oh wait, cause they have a valid point.

I'd write why but I'm afraid I can't because I'm auto-posting.
