I'm in the same boat, i did all of the above before i came here, even made sure the crappy windows updates all went through. even talked to EA tech support.

here's my chat with them

<quote>
You are now ready to chat with Rohitashv.
Rohitashv: Thanks for contacting EA Help! My name is Rohitashv how may I help you?
you: hello
Rohitashv: Hello
you: I picked up my copy of Mass effect 3 collector's edition today, and after installing it via disc, and downloading the dlc that came with it it t failed to launch properly
you: After a few tries i tried to figure out what was happening and it crashed, causing me to restart the computer
Rohitashv: Okay
you: so I un-installed the game completely and downloaded it again and installed it again completely from Origin, and i'm running in to the same problem.
you: Most of the time Origin logs me in, states its launching mass effect 3 then stops doing anything.
Rohitashv: From where have you purchased the game?
you: Best Buy. I pre-ordered online, then picked up my copy this morning.
Rohitashv: Please provide me your game code and the dlc code
you: product code : XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX
Rohitashv: Also please provide me your email address.
you: dlc: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX
you: supertoad2112@gmail.com
Rohitashv: Thank you and Please allow me some time to work on your issue.
Rohitashv: Okay try to repair the game from Origin.
you: Did that first time around, will try again since i downloaded it from origin this time
Rohitashv: Yes please.
you: approx. 3 minutes remaining
Rohitashv: Alright
you: okay attempting to run ME3
Rohitashv: Hoping for the best.
you: release date check....origin says launching...
Rohitashv: Okay
you: nothing happens...no me3 application in Task manager: applications, nor processes
Rohitashv: Alright
you: Occasionally Windows recognizes that mass effect 3 stopped working and sends a report to microsoft, but that doesnt happen often.
you: Also when i installed from the disc i also got an error once saying that it wasnt compatible with my 64bit operating system.
Rohitashv: Okay thank you for thew information.
you: So any ideas? I spent $80 and the last 5hrs trying to get into this game.
Rohitashv: I am working on it please give me some time.
Rohitashv: Okay un install the game again and redeem the dlc as mentioned on the link I will provide you.
Rohitashv: http://help.ea.com/a...are-social-site
you: so redeem the dlc before reinstalling me3?
Rohitashv: No install the game and then redeem the dlc as mentioned in the link
you: okay. install me3 from the discs or from origin?
Rohitashv: From Origin.
The chat session has disconnected. If you still need assistance, please try again.

I just installed the game on a TOTALLY different machine with TOTALLY different specs. 32b vista, vs my gaming PC 64b win7... and EXACT same problems and EXACT same solutions I've done on this PC I did to the other and nothing happens still. Yeah, I guess some of us live in Europe where the release is 8th? Maybe it's as simple as what Hobbes said. We live in Europe....even though I'm pretty sure there are too many rednecks around here for it to be Europe.

I don't live in Europe, and it's happening to me...

Yeah, me either. Georgia. I need to learn to contain my inner child and wait for sales and bargain bin games, especially from EA/Bioware. Heh. I did do that for ME1/2 ($10 for both on steam), so I don't feel too bad. It just sucks when you plan on a day of fun and nothing gets done cause you called in sick to work haha.

Yeah I'm in the technologically advanced part of Canada, not the East or West coast with the mouth breathers. This should be up and running. Just bad programming and a poor product release platform. I have over 30 games with STEAM. It's great and runs smooth.

OMG should I just get all three for Xbox and play it from there? I would like to replay the first game again...

Here is the conversation I just had about the release date/fail to launch issue.  It solved nothing and based on the CSR's responses they are obviously just reading from a script without trying to understand what's going on.  I know this isn't offical tech support but since the EA support is useless I wish Bioware would at least say they are aware of the issue.

I'm getting close to using the cracked exe to see if that solves the problem...   I really don't want to have to rely on pirates to play a legally purchased game.

Thanks for contacting EA Help! My name is Shobhit how may I help you?

you: My Mass Effect 3 is not able to launch. The first time I tried to run the game it did the release date check. It went through that screen too quickly to see what it said but I assume it worked because the game tried to load. In

Origin it then says "Playing Mass Effect 3" as my status but the game will not load. In the task manager in windows the Mass Effect exe shows up for about 3 seconds and then disappears. Running the game through Origin or directly from

the exe causes it to show up as running in task manager for a few seconds and then give up. It doesn't give any error messages.
you: In Origin if I tell it to check for updates, it will download 40 mb of data and then try to launch the game. Upon the first launch it will repeat the release date check and then try and fail to launch the game. It will simply fail

to launch the game if I try again until I update again in which case it repeats the release date check and then fails.

you: On the Bioware forums there are about 50 people with the same issue with no acknowledgement of the issue. The Mass Effect 3 demo ran beautifully on my system so the full game shouldn't be having any issues.

you: Per other people's conversations with tech support I have already done the following. 1) Reinstalled Origin 2) Reinstalled Mass Effect 3 3) Deleted the Origin cache in windows 4) Confirmed that the firewall has exceptions for Mass

Effect 3.exe as well as the Release Date Checker exe 5) Updated drivers, BIOS and firmware in case they were the issue

you: Short of formatting the computer entirely that's about all I can really do. Given the number of other people having the exact same problem I'm guessing the issue isn't on my end.

you: There.. give you a minute to read all of that

Shobhit: What's that?

you: pretyped what the problem is

Shobhit: I request you to please try the steps provided in the link below.

Shobhit: http://help.ea.com/a...te-Check-Issues

you: actually went through that earlier from another person's post

you: firewall is configured to allow the release date checker through and I power cycled the modem. Only non windows startup app running is the ATI display manager

Shobhit: Please uninstall and reinstall the game and after that it is fixed

you: no it isn't

you: I have reinstalled origin and the game

you: game I have done so twice

Shobhit: I would suggest that you try running your system using the Windows clean boot option. That way you would be able to locate any program that might be interfering with the game. The instructions for clean booting your operating

system can be found at the below given link: - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
you: I can try that however there is only a single application running in msconfig that isn't a core windows component. Is there a reference number I can use if this doesn't solve the problem?

Shobhit: Sure

Shobhit: If you need help with anything else, please feel free to contact us anytime!

Shobhit: Thank you for choosing EA Customer Experience.

Shobhit: Bye and take care

you: Can I get the reference number?

Shobhit: Sure

Shobhit: 03168752

you: thank you

I kind of just want my money back at this point. I hate console games so that's not an option, but I can just wait until it's at least stable and/or cheaper... Origin/EA really makes you appreciate Steam. Haha.

And here I was thinking about contacting EA myself. Obviously that will do no good. I wish somebody would just admit that a problem exists and they are working on it.

I'm just upset that I dropped 60 bucks on this game and I'm not even able to get it to launch. As for that March eighth release date thing, In the states the game was released today, the sixth. My date checker wont even run properly, gets to 80% makes some beeping sounds then closes and I get a Windows error saying "Mass Effect™ 3 has stopped working," whenever I try to launch the game. I was expecting to get what I payed for...or atleast be able to launch the game. I've spent all day trying to get this game to run.

Yeah, some acknowledgement would be nice. Even if it was just "we are aware" at least it would show that the slightly care about us some after they already took our money.

Killed the three AVG antivirus processes in task manager and tried launching ME3.  Worked like a charm.

Thought I was gonna have a nice relaxing few days of ME3 after exams this week but I guess not. I mean I'm no genius but personally I think it's just bad business releasing a game that doesn't work. Love BioWare and I think that they are a great company but, C'mon a few answers would be nice.

Disable your anti-virus applications, this could be the problem.

Bioware is a great company, but they got infected by the virus that's EA like other great companies that are now dead because of it... Maxis..Westwood.. *sigh*.

I totally uninstalled my antivirus (which was AVAST!, not AVG) and nothing changed there.

And yeah, I don't have exams, but after this week I have a full week of student teaching, tons of papers, and lesson plans due. So, my few days I could've played ME3 and vegetate have also been yanked.

Looking around the internet for solutions I also noticed the metacritic reviews for the game.
Don't know if they're true or not because the damned thing won't work, but until I actually get a working game I'm happy they're getting flak, regardless of the reason.

I've done every "fix" ((for lack of a better word...because none of them did anything)) in this thread, multiple times. Please, Bioware, fix this so I can play the game I've been waiting to play for over a year and 1/2

I just fixed my problem finally.

I opened up Event Viewer and searched for Mass Effect and it had one error listed.  After googling what code 0xc0000005 was I found out it's an access violation.  It can be caused by a bad file, bad RAM or various other issues.

The offending file was PhysXCooking.dll which is part of the physics software used by the game.  I went to the Nvidia website, downloaded the most recent version of the PhysX software and the next time I ran the game it worked just fine.

Here is the error code I had:

Faulting application name: MassEffect3.exe, version: 1.1.5427.4, time stamp: 0x4f46d052
Faulting module name: PhysXCooking.dll, version: 2.8.3.41, time stamp: 0x4e9bc59d
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x0002ffce
Faulting process id: 0xdc4
Faulting application start time: 0x01ccfc10c77651a0
Faulting application path: F:\\Games\\Mass Effect 3\\binaries\\Win32\\MassEffect3.exe
Faulting module path: C:\\Program Files (x86)\\NVIDIA Corporation\\PhysX\\Engine\\v2.8.3\\PhysXCooking.dll
Report Id: 07413b80-6804-11e1-a853-5404a6384d5b

Here is where you can get the PhysX software if you want to see if it fixes it for you www.nvidia.com/object/physx-9.12.0213-driver.html

Good Luck!

Why, oh why, do I not learn my lesson and keep buying this garbage from EA. I am sick, sick, sick of trying to support companies and the gaming industry with my money. Guess I'll go back to TF2 and SC2. I'm just really fed up.... EA, I hope you are sued and go bankrupt.

I just uninstalled it. Probably will leave it that way, at least for a while. What do they care, they got my money. $60 down the drain.

I took the advice from the person I was chatting with from EA support and tried the following:
Sudheer: (1)Clear cache of your web browser.
Sudheer: (2)Delete temporary files from the PC
Sudheer: by run "%temp%"
Sudheer: (3)
Sudheer: Please try running your system using the Windows clean boot option. That way you would be able to locate any program that might be interfering with the game. The instructions for clean booting your operating system can be found at the below given link: - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
Sudheer: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
Sudheer: Please try running the game using admin access. For this please right click on your game’s shortcut available on your desktop and choose the “Run as Administrator” option.

Big surprise.... didn't work. I'm done with this. I just dedicated almost my entire day to resolving this issue I've done it all of this:
- Made sure my firewall wasn't blocking it.
- Made sure my anti-virus stuff was all off.
- Reinstalled the game.
- Repaired the game and ran it as admin.
- Tried the PhysX update
- Looked under applications in event viewer and wasn't able to find anything notable relating to Mass Effect 3
- Sat around and thought about how bad I was just ****ed out of my 80 USD.
- Didn't even bother to study for my AP Chem exam due to pure anger and determination to get this to work.

Meanwhile at EA and Bioware............. www.plrinternetmarketing.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/sleeping-at-computer.jpg
