Alright, I'm having this problem as well. I sort of got it working, but then it crashed before it got to the intro screen, and now it doesn't even launch. Already reinstalled, repair installation, reinstalling origin, countless updates, I think tomorrow I will try reinstalling both origin and ME3. After that, I'm not sure what I will do.

I guess I'm glad that I'm not the only one, but it seems unfortunate that no developers or anyone have officially acknowledged this as a real problem that they are trying to fix.

I have found a solution, download the crack for the game of Pirate Bay, replace the MassEffect3.exe in win32, and presto it works.

Not only that but my import went on without a hitch, even connected to online without having origin open.

If I have one more conversation with these pants on head retarded EA support agents, im gonna start hunting them down. At the start of the conversation I give them a ****ing page of the things I've tried:

Cleared temp and %temp%
Updated PhyX
Removed All antivirus, windows firewall, disabled UAC
Updated Grpahics card
Reinstalled Origin 3 times
Reinstalled ME3 3 times, twice through ****ing origin
"and not that automatic uninstall; I mean the serious, Reg key, Program files (appdata) shift delete ****.
Removed Origin Log files
Explained Demo works fine
Updated NetFramework
Ran all updates
Ran in as admin
Ran in compatibility mode

First question... ok, please disable your antivirus...oh **** you
Basement porgrammers can make a crack that works for everyone, but people that get paid for this **** are either shooting up liquified moron, or just dont care.

Got a message from someone and they asked me to put it on the forums. Couldn't find the original thread though.

Hi,

I can't post on the thread with Mass effect 3 don't launch (64bit issue with text saying that's application is 16bit). I've got resolution for this. I tried everything like reinstalling game, origin and all that crap that didin't work. Then I downloaded origin and installed game on other computer and it worked. So I just copied activated LEGALY Mass Effect 3 to computer that mass effect didn't workd and replaced that file which caused issue. Now it's work great! Could you post this to your thread? It's definitel fix the problem for all you guys.

Like I wrote before, try deleting the temp log files. This worked for me and couple of others.

Have you added Origin.exe to the exceptions list of your anti-virus and firewall? Are there any peer-blocking programs running in the background (as this can prevent a stable connection the authentication servers)?

Have you tried disabling the User Account Control (Start - Control Panel - Users - Change User Account Control Settings)?

Finally, you may try downloading and installing in a "clean boot" state, with the minimum of services running in the background. Here's a link to a great FAQ on how to "clean boot":

I have done every one of those this multiple times and still a no go.  I am beginning to lean towards ME3 just does not seem to work well on a new i7 running high end equipment.

What anti-virus are you currently running? Have you tried disabling the anti-virus completely?

Another step to attempt would be to open ports on your router for Origin. This will ensure there is no packet-loss during the download process, corrupting the data and preventing a successful installation and launch.

I'm using Eset Nod32 but I've tried disabling both that and the windows security entirely. My internet connection is cable directly into the company outlet.

I have not had UAC turned on since I installed Win 7 64bit.

I use Kapersky.  I turned it completely off (no firewall, no AV, no nothing, not loaded) while installing, re-installing, changing permissions, etc.

Computers #1 and #2 are in a private network behind a router connected to a cable modem.

Computer #1 = i7 930 bloomfield with 470 GTX  Win 7 64bit-- Same thing every time, after activation window dings a couple times, looks like ME3 is loading, screen goes black, hear 1-2 seconds of music, game crashes and Win 7 pops up a window saying it ME3 stopped working.

Computer #2 = old E8400 with 8800GTS  Win 7 64bit  -- ME3 installs and starts fine, even with Kapersky running.  Comp #2 uses the same Windows settings as comp #1.

As a side note, after getting frustrated I decided to install ME2 so I could check on which saves I wanted to use.  After install, I now have the SAME ISSUE with ME2, sigh.

Edit:  I'm at work, but I can submit DXDiag's from both computrs once I get home later tonight.

- Clean boot didn't help me.
- Both Origin and Mass Effect have compete access through my firewall.
- It still didn't work with UAC disabled.
- Cleaned out the temp files to no avail.
- As far as I know the ports are open on my cable modem.

If there are any other ideas I'd love to hear them and the fact that the issue is now getting some attention is pretty comforting. If there are any logs that would be helpful let me know where to find them.

Hello everyone,

For those that have uninstalled/reinstalled Origin, do you have the Beta or Pre-Release (this information can be found by launching Origin and looking at the very top of the application)? To get the latest version, please download it from http://store.origin.com/download .

Here's an FAQ that may has some great information regarding crashing issues for Mass Effect 3 in Origin: http://help.ea.com/a...g-mass-effect-3

We are aware of a conflict with some programs that may cause Origin to crash when run concurrently with Mass Effect 3. For the best possible experience, please close any non-essential program while playing ME3. Specifically, please disable any program that appears in the list below:

• FRAPS
• RivaTuner
• EVGA Precision
• MSI Afterburner
• DXtory
• Punto Switcher
• amBX
• mumble
• Xfire

Also, you may want to disable the Origin In-Game Overlay (IGO) by clicking the settings (cog) button at the top right of Origin. Select Settings and go to In-Game tab to disable the overlay.

Hello EA_AgentX

it seems possible that my problem comes from running the beta verson of origin, as you said. However, whenever I uninstall and reinstall origin (even when using the downloaded version from link you mentioned) Origin still says "Origin Beta" at the top of the screen. Is there anything special I need to do to install the non-beta version?

Also tried those things and still no cigar in activating my retail game.

Edit: Also about the versions I did the same as the poster above me, reinstalled origin from the available link at origin.com

I'm having the same issue as RuffHouse789 regarding the Origin client.
I've had all those applications disabled well before I even saw this post and it never seemed to help.

To update to the pre-release version (if available), please click the gear (cog) at the top right. Select Settings. From that screen, scroll down to the Origin Pre-Release Participation field.

Put a check in the box to "Update to the pre-release version if available" and restart Origin.

EA_AgentX,

So we want to be using the beta version of Origin? In that case, the version of origin I have been using has been the latest. Reinstalling and upgrading Origin didn't fix the problem. Just keeping you appraised of the situation.

I tried checking the pre release box and restarted. No clue if it updated or anything but right now I am using Version 8.5.0.4554 - 144681 is this the one that's supposed to work?

Trying to download the game yet again :/ .... first time, I just get an error saying that the exe file was 32 bit and not compatible with a 64-bit system. This is when running it via the short cut on my desktop. If I run it through Origin, it says starting, and then nothing happens.

I did not see anywhere, where I could select whether to download a 32-bit or 64-bit version.

I am guessing most have the same issue?

According to the release notes on Origin.com/download, then 8.5.0 is the latest version. So I assume you are using the latest version.
