A quick note regarding the fix I posted. After you replace the .dll file you need to run Origin as administrator then launch the game as you normally would. If it still doesn't work then there isn't really much I can do to help any of you out past that due to the fact that I'm not even remotely tech savvy. Best of luck guys this will hopefully be my last visit to the PC technical support forums.

Yeah, I feel like I've fought in the trenches in a huge war with you and we came out the other side alright lol.  Happy playing.  Best of luck to everyone who is still having issues, I can say I've been there.

Sadly neither the patch nor the modified .dll do the trick for me. Still a no go.

The strange thing is I get no error message at all. Nothing. It just pops up in taskmanager (~5MB RAM) and after 2 seconds it's vanished.

EDIT: I'm using Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit  /  i7 Q720  /  8GB Ram  /  G285M 1GB VRAM with Nvidia 295.73.

^ Yes, that's exactly what happens. I've been trying to find any hint of an error message to give, but one simply does not exist.

I managed to get my game to work yesterday, after getting erros about the exe-file not being compatible with my Win 7 64-bit system.

I uninstalled the game, then set my Origin settings to upgrade to pre-release (which didn't seem to do anything after a restart), rebooted my PC, and downloaded the game again (this time keeping the installer files, just in case).

After a reinstall of the game, it now works.

Sadly, I don't really have any sneaky solution to force it to work. It just did on my second install. No clue why.

Hey guys,i've tryed pretty much every solution mentioned in this thread without any luck of getting my copy of ME3 to start.( Digital copy, downloaded from Origin)
My problem is the following, I've installed ME3 yesterday without any problems, i managed to play for some hours, then i stopped and when i returned and wanted to start the game once again I always get the first seconds of the Omni-tool EA intro and then a Windows error-window pops up saying that ME3 couldn't start up, "looking for a solution"and then shuts my game down. When looking in my Windows error log it shows me this message :

MassEffect3.exe
1.1.5427.4

MSVCR90.dll
9.0.30729.6161

Any ideas how to fix the problem?

Ok, just got it working! The problem seemed to be the local profile save file that somehow became corrupted. I solved it by deleting it. The file can be found in C:\\Users\\(User name)\\Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect 3\\Save.
The file name is Local_Profile.sav If you uninstall the game these document files wont be removed with the game so you have to manually go in and delete the "corrupted file" causing the problem.
If you use the "cloud option" in Origin you have to turn it off and then eventually replace the old saves /files with the new ones later, don't use the cloud files because they contain the corrupted files.

Exactly the same here. Can't kill the process and tried all the things suggested here. Multiple reinstalls and messing about with compatability. It just stays in the task manager with about 200k memory usage not changing. It's like its waiting for something but can't find what. It's all really annoying.

I have the same issues as Raven of the Dark and Cade above.

Found something out that is very interesting. I have Dragon Age 2 installed, and origin picks this up as well. If I launch Dragon Age 2 via the shortcut I have (i.e. not via Origin) it works without any problems. If I launch Dragon Age 2 via origin I get exactly the same issue Raven of The Dark reports.

If I use process explorer from Microsoft SysInternals and restart the process suddenly I get ME3 working and in without any problems. The hung process is still there.

The difference with the working process launches a child process called EACORESERVER..EXE. The hung process does not. I suspect it is something to do with the way Origin is launching the executable.

I am running Windows 7 64bit 4gb Ram Intel i7 2.8ghz CPU. Hope this helps narrow down this issue.

used Origin's built in live support, they suggested i clear out cache's browser/java cache and shut down all non-essential programs, including antivirus/firewall the last part turned out to be the issue for me.

Update on my part.

Had issue about the game just not starting. It did the check, it tried to sync with cloud service and then nothing... I reinstaller both origin and the game, but nothing. I replaced the dll file as one of the solutions were, but still nothing.

Then read "Raven of the dark" post about firewall and antivirus. I run F-secure (got it free so that's why) and i disables all the active processes of F-secure (basically shutting it down i think) - bam, my game works now.

NB: I was ready to shred the game and send it as box filling with a pic of my **** to bioware... well, not really, but the thought crossed my mind.

So, check your security programs, disable them, and try again - worked for me.

Best of luck.

Hey JMRC24, what settings do you have F-secure set to? Is it the maximum lock everything down or just the default settings?

Update on my issue:

I run Bullguard and noticeed I was running version 9 and not the latest. Upgrade the version and suddenly it all works.

I guess it is a combination of the way Origin starts the exe and the AV detecting it as rogue. Only problem is origin and ME3 cannot connect to the EA servers now.

Need to resolve that one. I will try a reinstall of Bullguard and see if that works.

Hey guys, i was the one who created the thread about the BEX error in the EA forums.

The alternate awc.dll will only solve BEX and some APPCRASH issues involving awc.dll, of course. If your problem is with EACore.dll or other module, it probably won't work.

To see what's happening, remember to run Origin as admin, otherwise the program might not launch an exception (and you won't know why mass effect 3 stopped working etc).

If you can't find the cause of your problem, you might want to visit http://forum.ea.com/...2.page#20832226

There's a list of possible (stressing "possible" because none of them worked for me, but you can always try.. see Klay who fixed it by changing/disabling Bullguard).

If you are having a crash issue with Mass Effect 3, you may need to download a patched version of the awc.dll and EACore.dll files in your game’s EACore folder.

Here’s the instructions:
1. Make sure Origin and your game are not running.
2. Download these file here: https://download.dm....sertest/awc.zip and https://download.dm....test/EACore.zip
3. Unzip or extract the contents to your desktop.
4. Navigate to the binaries\\core folder:
                              a. Mass Effect 3 default is: C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Origin Games\\Mass Effect 3\\Binaries\\Win32\\Core
5. Make a backup copy of your AWC.dll and EACore.dll files
6. Move the new awc.dll and EACore.dll files from your desktop into the directory listed above.
7. Now run Origin and launch your game from Origin.

Let me know if this fixes it for you.

Thanks!

To EA_Offspring:
default settings... haven't touched anything in the program,
If i'm not mistaken you can make it "overlook" some folders or programs, from the menu, so for those who run F-secure, that might be a solution (apart from disabling it).
