Also, when I talked to a live chat rep, I was told that there were no codes, that if you pre-ordered, it the objects just showed up in game. But, after reading all of this, I'm guessing that was far from true.

Yeah, and the best part for me was that I was told that right after he gave me the instructions for redeeming the code and getting the items in game.  It said right there "take your code and redeem it in Origin."  At that point I just thanked them and was done for that moment.

Update: I believe some of the retailers just have bad batches of the code.

I explained the situation to a gamestop clerk and first he apologized saying he personally isn't familiar with the situation but offered a new code to try which worked for me (at least Origin fully accepted this one, I haven't logged in yet to access it yet). Just get back to your retailer until they offer a working code that works.

i submitted my request as jluglue suggested and got a response from customer service saying they will review it. i just stopped in to my local gamestop today and handed the employee my receipt and said my pre-order code doesn't work. he didn't even pause to figure out what i was asking about, he went ahead and printed a backup code and said this should work. i typed it in to the origin client and it seems to work!!! now i just have to get into the game and find out. hope that helps other gamestop people.

Same ... I got another code from EB/GameStop.  Tried it out.  Same thing as the code before.  That's two pre-order codes I've had that don't work. :/
