I've just spent about an hour struggling with the same problem, as well as an import character problem.
If the above suggestions don't work then check your antivirus settings. If origin is restricted from accessing user files it won't authorise and can't find your ME2 saves to import as well. I found that giving the origin process permission to access user files seems to have fixed both of them (my antivirus is Kaspersky if anyone is wondering).

Speaking for experience generally EA does not care for these type of problems since they got already our money and seems that we are minority so no...i generally do not illude myself on having a reply.

Had this problem when I first launched the game, but it seems to have resolved itself peacefully (still not sure of permanently, though). I believe it had to do with the fact that due to my My Docs folder having been moved to a custom location, the game couldn't create My Docs\\BioWare\\Mass Effect 3 folder underneath. Since I got that fixed and created my first save, the authorization error message hasn't popped up yet.

Thank you Koveras Alvane, this solves the problem. This should also fix the problem for 3n3rgx, MadZombie and anyone else.
And BioWare or Origin? This is really stupid. Not everyone have their Documents folder on C:\\ Its another game, where i have this problem. And still they're doing something this stupid...

It happens to me as well but with the From Ashes DLC. I don't know what to do.
Take a look at my post here... verify if these are the steps you followed to register the "From Ashes" content.

@ruthruin
i have the Documents folder on C:\\ and i still have this problem.
@ekees
i preordered a regular me3 over origin, not CE. i bought from ashes seperately on origin as well. i didnt, however, get an email or any kind of notification from origin containing a code for the DLC. not sure if i was supposed to get one or if origin is supposed to verify it itself?
anyone having the same problem that is not related to CE?

For me it was a broken documents folder link in: "currrent_user\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Explorer\\User Shell Folders"
First make sure you have a documents folder in your Win7 profile, top right of start menu. Also make sure you have no problems with your 'Personal' folder. See 'thestarryskyisthelimit' here: http://answers.micro...eb-ef3fe7d24893
Once I repaired my documents folder link (just having a folder called my documents or adding it to the documents library isn't enough) I could use the DLC.
If you did have the DLC working once, then that is a different problem. This is about day 1 DLC problems before you start the game.
Also I am glad I made codes for both my 1st and 2nd shepards, as it didn't pull across their looks.
The ME2 codes do work, dunno if you can figure out the code from a new game plus in ME2?

damn this dlc to hell! I FINALLY did something while screwing around with all previous win7 64bit in pc settings and such,and managed to actually GET IT WORKING! but i was sleepy as hell at the time !! >_<
so i'd say what to do for people who are having the release date check failed, but again, i was near death sleepiness sortof feeling. arg!!!
i wanted to romance tali at the end of me2 but it got screwed up and i could only choose miranda at that point after breaking it off with Jack, to which Kasumi Goto told me "I heard you broke up with Jack. That'd like mooning a krogan, if you ask me."
which is one of the more funny comments she has made while being a dlc chatacter and all.
stil;l no luck with getting the dang from ashes to authorize, since i still see the box when i open the game each time.

In my case ( also a problem with activating the DLC from the collecters item) i have had about an hour phonecall with 2 EA helpers in The Netherlands. We couldnt determinate the problem. I even uninstalled my protection Suite ( f-secure) I tried it without Firewall.. didnt help. Finally due a bright idea i looked at the safety setting in Win7 (home) itself. ( The Internet options) I have put all settings on low .. My uac is always disabled. Finally the activation worked.
Its a BIG risk to be connected to the Internet without any protection from a good Virus/Firewall suite and with all security settings off from windows 7 itself. But it worked finally.
It took almost a day to have it running ( The DLC) as soon as i noticed that the DLC can not be activated error didnt occur anymore i have put al the security back to normal.
The problem is not Bioware ( you cant blame them) The problem is the program that the EA servers are using to get acces to your computer. Ea should take a look on this isuue asap.
It is very dangerous and risky to have an internet connection with almost all securty of.
Thanks
