I feel like the Banshee is the ME3 super mega equivalent of the Scion.

Rolling is your friend against the banshee. That's all I can say. She gets in close, don't hesitate to roll away..... unless of course you are a Krogan or a Turian, who can't. (Haven't unlocked those yet this time around, if I had a Krogan I'd likely try headbutting her out of spite.... and dying).

just use overload or energy drain on her and keep shooting her until her barrier is down (make sure you are constantly backing up while you are doing this), then use warp or incinerate to finish her off (remember to keep shooting her and backing up)
usually it just takes one or two people to do this strategy and it works...at least on bronze anyway
or you can just use a missle

When I met a Banshee for first time, I learned she has a instant kill.
When I met a Banshee the first time, I biocharged into her and she grabbed me mid-charge for an instant kill.
Should this be happening?
Banchees are Anti-Vanguards, sadly. If you're close enough to Nova, or reliably shotgun them, you're too close.
Thankfully, I'm an Assault Rifel Vanguard. Hailing them with bullets and using the surrounding enemies as leapfrogs to get away is very helpful.

I had one sneak up on me as a ~10 Turian Sentinel, thankfully my team was focus firing her, because I think my TA explosion staggered her enough for me to run run run.

As long as you roll to the side and/or have no lag, a human vanguard can Charge->Nova->Nova->Charge them to death. But it's difficult as wrong timing will give you an insta-kill.justgimmedudedammit wrote...

I still don't know how to deal with brutes and banshees, other than shoot ALL the bullets and hope it actually dies...
Support your local vanguard. I watched a rather low leveled player smoke them pretty easily during the bronze build-up matches I was playing earlier.

"I'm pouring it on but the barrier isnt budging!"
"FIRE EVERYTHING!"
Entire team goes to town...
And then it charges out up the ramp at half armor.
We fled.
And then we found it had friends. namely... two brutes.

My only issue with phantoms in SP is that my squad is typically too dumb to get away from the creepy lady with the pointy stick.Cuddlezarro wrote...

Funny thing the other day. I was playing as my Human Engineer, and I was the only one left alive, as was the Banshee on the map. I threw out my drone for support, and the Banshee just stood there staring curiously at my Drone as I whittled her life away.
the banshe has mostly biotic attacks, the drone has shields. And we all know how effective biotics are against shields, don't we?

Those bloodcurdling screams..... creepy, and the way she kinda just stands there like a shambling corpse, teleporting closer and closer to you.... stuff of nightmares....seriously.

Frankly it isn't the banshee that scares me, it's the fact that the banshee is often accompanied by a Brute. The two is generally over kill on a bunch of new players
