I know its been discussed before, but I cant seem to find any threads about it, so here we go.

In case you don't know, the notes of arl foreshadow are an easter egg you can find by performing all three rituals in the library of the circle tower together after you perform them individually. Arl Foreshadow appears and then goes away, but not before you can pickpocket him for this codex entry...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Books to pursue for furture endeavors

Lost Countenance: Ferelden to Orelesian Phrase Book
-Must not offend the potential landlords.

Raising spirits: Offspring and the Fade
-Terrible two's indeed!

Forest Fall: Truth and Legend in the Search for Arlathan
-Survivors? poppycock!

The Origins of Theses: Knowing More Than Everyone Without Looking Like a Jackass.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Seems pretty clear to me. Suggests that the next game will take place, at least in part, in Orlais. Any comments?

2. Seems as clear as the first, sounds awefully like Morrigan's kid. I suppose this only applies if you agree to sleep with her.

3. Arlathan is the capital of the original homeland of the elves. It is located somewhere in a great forest in or around the tevinter imperium. Does this mean the next game will take place there too? Or what? Anyone know anything more?

4. Not sure here. Unless its a jab at people trying to decipher these notes. Or. Idk. Hard to say. Any ideas?

I am hoping that these are all related to planned large dlc productions.

Wasn't there a similar thing in BG?

Yes and apparently it all came to pass.

Methinks this time they may be yanking our chains, because everyone expects it to be true.

I hope it isn't.. Orlais.. bleh. Fake French accents? No ty.

I would guess Orlais or the High Marches will be the next setting. Frankly, most of Ferelden is pretty boring, other than the history. The Frostbacks/Deep Roads are a neat setting, but to me the rest of Ferelden is like having an adventure in Nebraska. Woo hoo.

Could also be the different acts for the sequel. These could be the four 'planets', 'allies' or what have you. I can't imagine they would be the driving force of an entire game though, since they're fairly origin specific. Or seem to be. Or it could all just be a joke from BioWare.

Yea there was a Lord Foreshadow who talked about neverwinter, and, lo' and behold. Neverwinter Nights....
But as has been said, It could be nothing.

You have a point. If it were in Orlais, everyone would have to have 'orlesian' accents lol.

I think you mean Free Marches. Honestly I think the Tevinter Imperium is pretty likely. Too.

Not sure what you mean here. Origin specific?

Orlais and Tevinter seem like good canidates for a second DA. They are both large, and have alot of lore behind them. The second book suggests orlais, but the third suggests tevinter.

I'd love their to be an Orlais addition, :). I'd love to take my Leliana there and make her smile, ;). The architecture and such would be good to investigate as well.

And then she'd end up poisoning you because some Orlesian noble told her to. ;)

You know that Leliana's voice actress (Corinne Kempa) is actually French, speaking British English?

On 3, I think more important than the location (Arlathan) is the note about suspected survivors, I mean technically we already found a sort-of-survivor of the old Elven civilization in DA:O (The Arcane Warrior Phylactery), it's not too much of a stretch to think that maybe some Arlathan-Elves didn't suffer from the Quickening or at least managed to keep more of the old culture alive than the Dalish.

1&2 are pretty self-explanatory, unless BW wanted to be intentionally misleading.

Supports the theory that BW will either choose the Morrigan-Ending to be canon, or otherwise somehow just make it fit (You know, a wizard did it, everything's possible!).

Is she? Considering her accent varies wildly from French to god knows what else I'd never have guessed.
In any case I was thinking more of Marjolaine, Anora's servant and that tart in the Denerim market district. *shudder*

On the Morrigan ending, in any way you play there's the option to have that ending. Either a male pc does it, or Alistair does it, or Loghain does it (lol).

So... yes... it seems like it will be canon. Well just as long as I don't have to be her quasi-bhaalspawn devil child.. or have it in my party... or be seen within 500 kilometres of it..

I highly doubt they will establish a canon ending. Seems to violate the very principles of DA:O.

But it also would seem uncharacteristic of them to magic it in.
Is it not possible that that portion of the game will be very different if you chose to sacrifice someone? Perhaps there is no demon child at all, but now morrigan is up to something else?

Thats an interesting point on #3 though. They were immortal, so perhaps there are a few still around.

EDIT: Or maybe if you dont give her a child, then she finds another way? A different old god? Maybe something different entirely?

Your choices carrying over in full is one of the major gimmicks of Mass Effect, not Dragon Age.

They might want to keep that... unique.

I think I might have to disagree. One of the biggest things that has been stressed is the consequences of your actions. There has been so much talk about how Dragon Age Origins is your own story. But how can it be if you have to face the consequences of taking the easy way out if you didnt? If people who you killed or died in your story show up in the sequel? How can it be your tale if you end up king and then in the sequel you find out alistair and anora married?

I supremely doubt bioware will pull the canon card.

We'll see. If #2 is accurate then they intend to force the issue, choices or not.

If it isn't well, it's anyone's guess. Again I hope it isn't but we'll see.

I really hope that they do it for DA:O as well...you work so hard to get to where your character is, I think I would be really irritated after all the work to keep Alistair off the throne AND alive, to only have him be king in the sequal anyway.
I personally don't care where the next one takes place...I would just love to have some familiar faces.
Actually, the end of DA:O makes me think that the sequal will take place soon after you fight the archdemon. Anyone else notice how all your companions tell you their plans, but that more or less none of them are going away right away?

True. But if the dealio with morrigan isnt the driving force of the conflict, which I dont think it will be, it might just be a reference to things that might be in the next game.

Next game in Orleise, with ties to Arlathan is very likely. Good ol' Foreshadow has been with us in BG1 and he was good for his word.

Lost Countenance: Ferelden to Orelesian Phrase Book

-Must not offend the potential landlords.

The emphasis for me should be on the second part, Foreshadow's actual note about 'potential landlords'. Orlesian invasion (re-invasion) of Ferelden?

Raising spirits: Offspring and the Fade

-Terrible two's indeed!

Two years is the average production time for a sequel, perhaps the Dragon Age world takes place in 'real time' and Morrigan's child is about two years old in the next game?

Forest Fall: Truth and Legend in the Search for Arlathan

-Survivors? poppycock!

Potential plot point, I would think.

I took this more to imply he would be "following the plot" and thus, renting a home in Orlais.

I think number four implies we'll be doing more things in the vein of the Sacred Ashes. Possibly implicating a Chantry Origin next time around.
