It looks you at least get part of the Terminus Fleet as you complete the individual missions. I think you get 50 military strength points for getting the Blue Suns aboard, getting Eclipse, and getting the Blood Pack. I think you get another 50 just for talking to Aria for a total of 200. So I did at least get 150 points for my trouble. I checked at my war terminal. I'm not quite as annoyed now. Certainly not replaying 4 hours worth of game for 50 points, though I may miss out on an achievement or something. Hopefully they can fix all this since all our data is uploaded to Origin.

same bug saved after talking to the salarian then reloaded the game. Can't finish it now, bug fix patch would be cool.

I'm getting the same problem on PC.

This reminds me of a Mass Effect 2 assignment bug.
It was called "Omega: Packages for Ish" or something like that, it just wouldn't finish and I never saw it fixed.

Let's hope this will get treated soon.

I am in the same situation on the xbox. Are there any followup missions I would miss out on if I didn't finish this mission? I am not too excited about losing 5 hours of progress.

I saved right after talking to the salarian and then reloaded. Looks like several people are having the same issue if they have saved.

The only thing is you loose a fairly minimal number of war assets. Not worth reloading IMO.

Go talk to the guy in the last box area in the commons and you'll be able to force an idea on him that he kills the crazy lady when you free her, he'll take over and Aria will be happy.

There's a surprisingly high number of ways to do the side missions. Citadel confined missions are directly easy, just talk to everyone by walking around constantly and basically you'll finish.. I guess all of them depending on what point they become available. Crew moves around on there so you're gonna be walking around to find them anyway so just don't miss talking to anyone.

I agree. That's one of my few gripes with the game so far. You go talk to someone who gives you a mission. Shepard says "okay, I'll do it," but the journal never says what to do next. I usually open the map and look for new people to talk to. I think the ME2 journal used to give sub-objectives for side missions. That would be helpful.

lol.

Well to be fair most of the time the hub ones are easy to find due to new NPCs and items appearing on the map itself pointing the way. It's the ones outside that take you searching outside the hub in the galaxy that are tough. I think the journal could be improved and would be nice if was for those ones because of the timed element to some, still it is not a necessity as when each new system opens up I fully scan and explore and I got everything done even without updated journal because of that.

If you guys are stuck on any Citadel missions, try looking at your map. We marked plot-important items and NPCs on it, and you can flip back and forth between maps on the GUI to check if what you need is in another area without loading it up first.

(Can't remember off the top of my head if we marked off Sayn on the map in this case - I believe we did, but I can't swear to it.)

Hi there, as the many posts on this topic explain, we're not stuck on this mission,  it won't complete, even after i spoke to the salarians, as i wanted to get Paragon for the mission.  It's very frustrating and needs a fix.  thank you.

What I find appaling is the level of disinterest Bioware is having for this very annoying issue.

Btw this fix did nothing for me, playing ME3 DDE through Origin.

Don't suppose a Bioware response to this would be too much to ask for. Just a we are aware of this issue or something.

To re-iterate: The problem occurs when you go to the Salarian named Sayn and talked to him for the mission Aria: Eclipse. Once you have done this if you reload the game or quit and come back before going to the elevator the mission is impossible to complete. Bailey calling you up doesn't trigger and you're stuck with the mission Aria: Eclipse in your Journal forever.

There is a bug where, after choosing not to free Sederis and convincing Sayn to take control, you save and exit the game *before* returning to the elevators, when reloading the game the mission will not complete and you are unable to talk to any of the mission objectives again.

When you start this mission, finish it before you save and exit, or you never will.

I got this bug as well. Pretty frustrating as I had to head out right after talking to that second in command...

I'm also having trouble with the hex fix. As previously stated, if someone could elaborate on step 3, I'd appreciate it. I'm also using XVI32, and I'm not sure how to "add" the 0x369 (I've tried the edit->insert string, but to no avail). Everything else seems pretty straightforward, but then again, I'm pretty ignorant with hex editors!

Edit:  Figured it out!  Going with the original instructions (of adding 0x368 to the D0), add 208 to 872 (1080) and covert the decimal number to hexadecimal (0x438).  When going to the 00 00 00 D0 00 00 00 00 in XVI32, highlight the D0 and go to "Edit" and "Overwrite String".  Enter 0438 for the new value.  Then, go to the 11 89 01 00 and change the 89 to 09, and follow the other instructions as follows.

A couple of notes, first be sure the save you edit has Shep next to Sayn and second, if you're on PC, be sure to run the checksum.  Whatever values it spits out, be sure to reverse them for the last four bits (i.e.: if it gives you 01 23 45 67, enter it as 67 45 23 01 for the last four values of the save in XVI32.

I was also unable to complete the Aria: Eclipse mission.  I spoke with all appropriate parties, but the completion never triggered.

It drove me crazy throughout the game, but in the end, it doesn't make a difference to your ending, one way or another.

Managed to hack my save file to reset the quest progress for that part.

Warning: this is hackish. By doing this you agree not to hold me responsible for corrupt savegames, frozen games, or Reapers invading your home planet.

Flimsy Directions:
0. Back up your save files, and make a save in front of the Eclipse second in command. (Sayn)
1. Get a hex editor (I used XVI32) and a Mass Effect checksum calculator (http://www.mediafire.com/?wmkztjwjimt)
2. Open the latest save in the hex editor and search around for the hex number "00 00 00 D0 00 00 00 00" (mine was at around 0xBAFF) (if anyone knows how to calculate this better, please speak up)
3. Add 0x368 to the address of the D0
4. Around that new address there should be something like 11 89 01 00
5. Change the 89 to 09
6. Save.
7. Open the file in the Mass Effect checksum tool
8. If the checksum it generates has 8 'f's in front of it, remove them
9. Change the endianess of the bytes of your checksum(if on PC...xbox users don't need to, but have to go through the process of exporting their save from the xbox :P). If your checksum is AABBCCDD it will become DDCCBBAA. 12345678 becomes 78563412. Et cetera.
10. Modify the last four bytes in the save file to match the checksum
11. Save
12. Load the modified file in ME3
13. Pray to the Goddess
14. Enjoy your fixed game. The quest should complete after talking to Sayn and going to the exit. If not, reload and try again.

Hello,
can you please do more accurate walkthrough for dumbasses like me, who has never used hexeditor and so don't have the slightest idea what are you talking about? :D It would be much appreciated. Thanks

Some of those are bugged (only in terms of their map markings, as far as I know). I don't remember if this is one of them. The big one for me was the Hanar diplomat, it wouldn't show all of the terminals on the map, had to run around and find them the old fashioned way.

I also had the problem, the quest log kept telling me to talk to the officer to talk to the criminal and didn't give me any other directions after i decided to not release her.

Thanks!  This appeared to work for me as well, though I also had to scratch my head a few times to understand what you meant about point 3.  For those who were asking, what I think he meant is, after finding the D0, highlight it and then add 0x368 to the address-- that is, jump forward in address space by 0x368.  He didn't mean insert 0x368 into the field, or add it numerically to that field.  You can do this by clicking on the address menu, clicking on Goto, and then the hexadecimal radio button.  Type in 368 and then click on "relative down" on the right.  You should jump forward and should see "11 89 01 00" somewhere near there.  Then follow the instructions from there.

I figured this out just by fooling around; I have virtually no experience with hex editors, but when I followed the instructions, sure enough, Sayn was active again and I could talk to him about taking over.  This time, I left the docks through the blue screener like a civilized being and sure enough, Bailey contacted me and the quest updated.

I haven't been further along yet to see if this had any negative effects on the rest of the game, but everything looks
to be in order.

Thanks again, you saved me from having to backtrack a lot of game hours.

P.S. How did you figure this out?  I'm interested in learning about these sorts of things.  That is, how did you know which addresses and values corresponded to this quest?

SqurlGoneWild:

I created a C# app to automatically apply the fix you described in the thread (Reference: http://social.biowar...54456/4#9761635 ).

Since I am unable to post yet as it has not been 24 hours since I created this account, I am just sending you the link with all of the source code included.

Hopefully this helps someone.

I made a save file before and after talking to Sayn, then I found the differences between the two files. One by one I changed the after file to look like the before file until I found the byte that fixed it.

Thanks for posting that SubaruH, my 24 hours are finally up lol.

Remember people to backup your save file before using the program (it is located in the folder bin/debug/). If the program does not work for you, PM me with a link to download your backed up save file (I need the original to see where it went wrong) and I'll try to adjust it. :)
