Because with in game tutorials, online resources, its cheaper to not produce a manual.

It has only been going on in the more recent years, primarily with PC games where they will have a digital manual or when someone orders the game to be downloaded. I pay for a physical copy of my game along with that I do expect a manual. Now tutorials are all great but usually a manual includes some back story along with what you can expect to see in the game such as weapons, races; etc. Now I cannot even think of a single game off the top of my head that did not include some form of a manual recently when I bought it for Xbox 360.. though some did include those two to three piece paper brief manual but that was only useful for starting a fire.

Disagree. I have a STACK of Xbox 360 games...probably 50+ going back 5, 6 years...and alot of them have little in the way of a manual. Many simply have the 2 or 3 piece of paper you diescribe.

You must have purchased a lot of either preowned or low quality games. I only had about 5 or 6 of the 30 or 40 games I purchased in the past few years that have had that type of manual. So from my own experience and point of view this is not industry standard.

Yeah, I miss the old days where I put the disk into the reader, clicked on "install" and then passed the time until it was done with thoroughly working through the manual.
Not to mention how I miss the "good" old days where the installation progress was a sight to behold itself with vidoes playing and stuff (CnC) or when manuals were more of a roleplay thing than just a mere manual (Wing Commander).

again, this is an industry standard...pretty much EVERY developer are stingy with the manuals these days. It has nothing to do with BW or EA, its simply following industry trends.
