See, I played almost and every single time with Soldier beacuse everyone know it is the most underpowered class and fights are actually hard, and I liek the challenge compared to power spam that lots of other classes offer, plus the fact that I never liked mage-like classes. There is no way you can tell me that playing on Insanity with soldier was a breeze through, that sounds like trolling to me, I remember getting my shields destroyed less than a second everytime I came out of cover to shoot, and if you do that twice in a row, you die.
I liked DA as well, but watching my character move incredibly slowly everytime he swung his huge sword was boring, again maybe mage-like classes are more fun, I do not know because I can't stand them. Also my point was that a friend in DA, set his party, litterally to auto pilot, and he barely had to press any buttons, the game would play itself, and that is far from my idea of fun... might as well watch a movie.
-Honestly I found soldier to be the most intensely boring class of them all. Point and pew pew with time dialation. Wait for time dialation to come back up. Pew pew again. Follow that route and the game is insanely easy... even on insane. With the imba machinegun and proper ammo selection plus a backup group that compliments you... even more so.
I allways gravitate toward mage-classes. I find them great fun. They start out underpowered and as fragile as glass and eventually they can pretty much take out anything. You do not like them. Again. Subjective playing style. Im not proposing mine is better than yours or that mine is "harder or more challenging" than yours. I just found the pew pew classes to be more boring.
Incredibly slow. Well. First of all you've likely never held a sword, let alone swing it. You dont utilize a claymore like you do a rapier. And even a rapier is considerably heavier than most think. Hell, early western handguns weren't precisely easy to draw either as they could weigh in at between 5-7kilogrammes. Try doing trickshots with that. Compare that to the "diablo stick" of DA2. There is litterally no way in hell anyone who hasnt studied martial arts for years could swing a pole like that. And why the **** bother when you can just point and shoot?
As for DA enabling you to set up tactics... whats the problem? Sure if you want to minimize interaction, do that. If you dont, just pause the game whenever someone has cast a spell or performed a feat and do your own thing?
If thats not your thing... well. Go watch that movie. I never played any RPG for the action or the loot. And Ive been playing ©RPG's for 25 years. The story, the dialogue and the immersion and empathy I get for the characters was is and will for ever remain the juice for me. Incidentially, thats also what Bioware built its reputation on. Good storytelling. Whatever else, the storytelling was usually always stone cold solid.

Ok first of all, I know we are going out of topic, but I do not like being called an ignorant in these type of things... so I have a Steel Mercenary sword (2 handed), and I am talking real steel (En45) none of that american crap they usually make them with overseas, and ship them over to EU, nope, the en45 is closer to the realistic weigth and not above 8 Kg for a sword this size, so not heavy at all. I do not use it myself but I lend it to a friend who does live "plays", and he can swing it faster than you can possibily imagine, and no, not in the same manner as a rapier, but he can swing it and to tricks that makes it move like helicopetr blades because it uses the balance of the sword to move it, and not brute force like Hollywood has brainwashed you to believe. Ask ANYONE with real combat pratice and he will tell you how wrong the sword fights look in DA. So let's just leave this topic now, cos I do not like talking with peopel who's idea of sword fights come from movies.

Where is the point to pause the game constantly if it can play for you by putting autocombat on?

Sorry to dissapoint you but Bioware does not share you opinion on that one, because if they did care only for story telling they would not bother makign the combat more action oriented and appeal to a larger audience.

I don't know if I will like it but my hopes are not high right now, will find out when finally comes out over here on 9th. Why in this day and age Bioware/EA feels the need to stagger release of this title is silly but such is life. I will make my own mind up when play it myself. I wont come back to moan or critisize the title however if I do not like it, given its the last franchise they make that I am interested in if turns out I do not enjoy it. I tried to leave feedback for DA2 after it's release and took part a lot in that period on here but what I want is apparently not what they want these days, I don't plan on wasting my time if it's bad. If it's good then I'll say what I liked.

-Mine doesnt come from Hollywood movies. Mine comes from talking to and being in reinactment fights in North Europe... Denmark. And the crew I hung around were fiercely accurate. Reconstructionists. Try swinging a sword like a "Helicopter blade" for 30 mins. Hell. Try doing it for 20. What the hell is a "2 handed mercenary sword" anyway? Some nifty term for a claymore or a flamberge twohander?
I agree with you on the balance issue, but then getting a good sword from a good craftsman with good balance isnt easy. They do make nice blades in some parts of easter europe though. I think one of the greats live in the Czech republic. Name escapes me though. Sure the DA experience isnt authentic. But then few games are. However combat IRL isnt fast either. It's dirty hard and sweaty. And the hollywood "just wear mail" bit is bollox too if you dont have some padding to take the blunt force trauma. Hell... try wearing mail with long hair. Thats fun. -Bioware didnt really before EA came along now did they? Most of their games did have some combat but it was allways inferior to the story. So... Im not dissapointed. You?

Whats odd is how every excuse coming from people defending the title is mirror of responses from release of DA2. Such things as "Try playing again and use your imagination to pretend its better" in other words ignore the bad elements and see it another way, you know with lower expectations. Or making excuses for each element. I will find out for myself but these forums currently mimic the DA2 forums with people stating what they hated and people bashing them personally for every single negative thing they say like some sort of self defense mechanism.

When it comes to gameplay, GOW3 is solid, the campaign feels so refined, it doesnt do a whole lot, but what it does it does gracefully. ME3 on the other hand is trying too hard to be GOW, and forgetting the part about itself that is superior to GOW, the RPG aspect.WildcardCharlie wrote...

Thanks for turning the combat system into Gears of War Lite.
Gears of War Lite is the definition of pure garbage.
I really have mixed expectations, the reason being that many people that complained about it, are durps that can't handle change, complaining about the auto-dialogue, these where the same people that complained about Sheperd not being a real character, look where that one went...
Also i found myself often selecting options only to realise they where exactly the same, and almost always resulted in the same thing, the autodialouge atleast adds cinematic value.
I geuss not being a total **** makes me less attached to it. I LOVED ME1, it is on of my fav games of all time, if you ask me, it all went down hill from there.

The only thing better is the subtle troll vs fanboi rage. A subtle troll can whip the fanbois into a flaggelantic frenzy of zealous overprotecting whiteknightery that is staggeringly amusing to behold. Surprised none has even tried taking the torch to them yet... would be many lulz and some with sealclapping too I wager.

^ THIS is still an improvement from where the series started. Just sayin'. The combat in the first game wasn't anything to write home about.
The rest, apart from the dialogue and ending, is all subjective, so there's no point in me saying anything about it. I can't comment on either of those other two things, as I haven't completed the game yet.

I had ME3 pre-ordered and decided to stay away from the forums. I guess curiosity got the better of me when I saw a headline about user backlash. I thought to myself...oh no...not again! I cancelled my pre order and decided to take a wait and see approach. I don't want a repeat of my DA2 experience. Not ever!
So far...I'm reading a lot of negativity and disappointment.....hey..you can't please everyone all the time. Still...from what I'm hearing, the endings seem to effectively kill the series dead. Hmmm..... I guess I'll hold my own judgement until weeks have passed....see if this holds true. Amazingly, I'm no longer in a great hurry to play this game now. I'll give it more time to see if the tide turns. As I said..I will NEVER have a repeat of my DA2 experience again...not if I can help it.

I never said I only want to hear praise. What I want to hear is valid, constructive criticism. And to achive that, you actually have to indictate that you know what you're talking about. In this case, that mean's proving you've played the game, and being willing to discuss with other people who've played the game.
Both of these are very easy to do. I'm sure you have a good reason why you're not prepared to do either.
This is just so pathetic. Since when do people have to "prove" they've played the game? He made points many others have so I'm guessing he's played it. I have games and a ton of DLC on my account none of it shows up, it's a forum, I don't care about post count, sign up dates, games owned, I don't even bother with a profile pic for christ sake. A forum is for discussion if you're guilty until proven innocent before posting then the forum has become a truly pathetic place.
