That's why you don't trust mainstream reviews. They have to be favourable to not anger the EA gods and lose EA's support of their company.

Trust the user scores and the indie reviewers.

It's the exact opposite. You can only trust professional mainstream reviews, because users tend to mass downgrade a game out of spite - or heap nothing but praise on it, creating extremely polarized scores. MW2 and Battlefield 3 are the most recent example of this, with fanbases waging war on each other. Same with TOR and Guild Wars 2 fanboys.

At least the ''game review industry'' isn't completely bought like SOME people would like us to believe, even though there are some examples of corruption. But it's nowhere near that bad. Most professional reviewers may give a game a good score, but still point out flaws.

The only score I put stock in is the professional reviewer average on Metacritic.

If only you could. People who aren't dead are a lot less offensive.

He made it before Steve Jobs died, though.

I'm hella joking tbh.

That means I'm failing to understand humor. My mistake.

The playtime I had yesterday I did enjoy, but not as a RPG, more as interactive story game. Who knows maybe this will change once I have played through it one full time, but the initial feeling doesn't bode well for this game as a rpg. :/

Huh... that's how I felt about all the ME games. I guess I'll have a blast playing this installment! :>

The truth is often somewhere in the middle.

The "professional" review system is inherently corrupt.

Call of Duty:Modern Warfare and Black Ops got multiple 9s and 10 as critic review. The user review gave it a crap score.

Same with DA2 most critics gave it a fricking 8 the users gave it a fitting score.

User reviews reflect the actual quality no the critics.

Dont trust the User scores on Metacritic.

User opinions can be important, but really Metacritic is just a big ol' load.

seriously man. Dont let it get you down. All of this stuff I have been hearing from the trolls and the nega-fans have been getting me down a bit too, and not because I think the game will be bad, im just easily manipulated.

DONT BE ME!

You shouldnt' trust any of the reviews, everyone is bias.

I'm not going say that previous titles were awesome RPG titles, but atleast they felt more like rpg games then this one does. ME3 isn't a bad game for what it is, the action is fast paced, story feels nice, but the label also say that this is a RPG game and that is perhaps true as you do have som very basic rpg mechanics available. Sadly the mechanics are so simple that it's a question if anyone could actually call it RPG features anymore. :/

But if you enjoyed the others as interactive story with a lot of acton fr sure you will enjoy this game. It does deliver in that end. :)

Just like literally every person who didn't like the flawless pillar of Bioware's library DA2 was part of a raid from /v/?

Have always found meta critic useful, if you actually take the time to read through them you can get a feel of why a lot of people don't like/like a game.

Waving them ALL off as trolls is just naive.

Anyone who rates games 1/10 or 10/10 is not to be taken serious anyway. Numbers say nothing actually, only those with arguments can help you decide whether a game is good or not.

I know Battlefield 3 got a very low rating at the German Amazon site. That was not because the game sucked, but because Origin made it impossible to play for a lot of people. There is a difference between bashing the actual game and (the mess called) Origin.

That's why users keep purchasing Call of Duty games then, is it?

The games sell well, yet the user review scores represent the product's actual quality?

I shall expect the 'people don't know what a good game is' response.

Edit: And yes, this does reek of people bombing the game. Wouldn't surprise me if they haven't played the game and they just waited for the ability to drop 0s and 1s for the game's rating.

metacritic is the opposite of useful =/

I must have accidentally read three major spoilers on that site today.

those user reviews are full of troll posts and spam masquerading as troll posts.

User reviews today (March 6th), with just a few hundred of trolls (most of the people giving 10s and 0s) are useless.

In a couple of days, after a few thousands of votes, the users score will be more or less accurate.

It is worrying, and you can't just throw it out. MW3 had this effect because it was an awful game and the user reviews are something of a counter to the lies from the gaming racket. Real game score for MW3 was something like a 4 or 5. Same with skyrim, broken game, needed a year or two of work to be finished, yet won GOTY.

I need to see how this ends so I'm still getting it. But there are a lot of worries. A lot that seems rushed and unfinished in favour of multiplayer. Very bare bones cameos for some favourite characters (this isn't selfish, it would decrease scores because Bioware may have lied about the content in the game; still hoping that the old squadmates are much better than what I'm hearing though).

Can't really judge til we play it all the way through, and since these scores are coming in so early (have hundreds really gotten at least halfway through the game?) I'm a bit skeptical. But there is a systemic problem with the gaming industry taking advantage of people right now, so it is possible that we are being ripped off here too. But still hoping this won't suffer from Skyrim Syndrome.

I would say it is 8 or 9/10 after a few hours of gameplay. That could change however.

This just happens when you take a customer group that was in the core of the targetted audience in the beginning of the franchise (in this case a certain type of rpg rpg fans, obviously not all of them, as not all are the same) and a later game in the series that doesn't target them directly any more.

It was the same with DAII. DAII was an ok game, they just shouldn't have tried to sell it as successor of DAO. Many of the DAII hater where people like me who actually preordered it on full price and expected something like DAOII.

After the high scores they gave DA2 it's easy to tell why many don't trust the high named reviwers.

Bullcrap. It's just haters gonna hate.

Happened to Mario galaxy cause a bunch of COD fanboys didn't like that the game scored higher scores then MW.
Happened to Uncharted 2 cause of angry 360 fanboys
Angry PS3 fanboys then did the sam thing to gears of war 2 if im not mistaken

And the list goes on and on. Never take user reviews serious on meta sites. Their mostly either fanboys or haters.

But the "OMG 10/10 BEST VIDYA GAME EVAR" professional reviews you can take serious?

I'm sorry, Mass Effect 3 might be a good game. But it's not worth a 10.

some of you here are only defending the game and attacking those reviews as le reddit and /r/ trolls because you dont know the endings and plotholes and rely on IGN and gamespot for an opinion.
