So, my game was working fine until I had a power outage. After I restarted my computer, I can't launch the game anymore. On startup, I get to see the Bioware and EA logos briefly before the game crashes to desktop with a "Mass Effect 3 has stopped working" error.

Here are the error details:

Problem signature:
  Problem Event Name:    APPCRASH
  Application Name:    MassEffect3.exe
  Application Version:    1.1.5427.4
  Application Timestamp:    4f46d052
  Fault Module Name:    MSVCR90.dll
  Fault Module Version:    9.0.30729.6161
  Fault Module Timestamp:    4dace5b9
  Exception Code:    c0000005
  Exception Offset:    0003ae7a
  OS Version:    6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1
  Locale ID:    3073
  Additional Information 1:    0a9e
  Additional Information 2:    0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789

  Additional Information 4:    0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789

So I tried several things, none of which worked: Disabling Origin In-game, Repair Install on Origin, re-installing latest DirectX, Microsoft C++/NET packages, even the ones included in Mass Effect 3's "__Installer" folder. None of this has worked, and I keep getting the same exact error.

Help!

Lucky you. I don't even make it that far before I get the Mass Effect ™ 3 has stopped working. Mine just happens when I try to launch the game. I don't get to see the logos or anything. My error message is slightly different, too, although I am sure they are related:

What worked for me is uninstalling EVERYTHING that has to do with ME3. That means going into your Documents/Bioware folder and deleting the ME3 stuff as well as uninstalling from the Add/Remove Programs..

Then I Uninstalled/re-installed Origin and re-installed ME3.

Works just fine now.

I hope this helps you guys.

Exact same problem when trying to launch ME3. I also have the OP's problem when trying to play Fifa 12. Those are the only two Origin games I have, and neither work, and I've even done a clean install of Windows, I'm at an absolute loss.

Same exact issue here. I haven't had this much of a problem since the last time I bought an EA/Bioware game (DA2). I'm starting to think they do this to me on purpose

Its not just EA/Bioware. EA/Dice has similar issues with BF3.

I'm pretty sure it's an origin issue, because that's the obvious common denominator.

HEY, EA! Origin is BROKEN!

Stop requiring it for your damned games when it's a completely broken platform you jackasses!

Hey,

I'm also having issues with the BEX awc.dll error. Freaking Origin! Anybody have a work around?

I'm sure it is, as a last resort I downloaded the pirated version of Fifa 12, and it worked perfectly! I'm sure if I did the same with ME3 it would work too, but I'm not going to. I want to play the games I've paid for, and it's about time EA / Origin recognised that there are problems. They've stopped responding to me on Fifa 12, let's hope we have more success getting a fix for ME3.

I have an msvcr80.dll error when Fifa won't load. After the most recent Origin update the fifaconfig also occasionally crashes with an mscorwks.dll error, and I have the awc. dll error for ME3. Everything else on my system runs fine, I've reinstalled windows, tested my ram, only with Origin Games do I have these problems.

Having the same problem. Everything was working and running just fine. Odd enough I can hop on Multiplayer mode and no crashes. When I go back to single player and load my save. About 1 minute in from where I'm saved the game crashes.

Are any of you running Xfire? I was having a crash on startup issue and then I figured out that if I disable Xfire in-game for ME3, then it stopped crashing. Just throwing that out there in case it may help some of you.

For the record, I wasn't even getting as far as the logos or multiplayer, it was an immediate crash when the game started.

I had the exact same problem. I was playing the game and another program I had running in the background crashed. I restarted the PC and found that I couldn't open ME3. The game always crashed at the Bioware/EA logo at the start (the one with the omni-blade).
Here's what I did to solve the problem. Unistalled ME3>deleted everything related to ME3 from the My Documents folder>unistalled Origin>retarted the PC>installed Origin>installed ME3. The game returned to running flawless again.

Hope this helps the people with the same problem.

I am having the same error. Which started only today as yesterday i was playing the game fine. I tried ggrievous123's solution to no avail, but then i actually hit on something that worked. Turn off the cloud save feature for mass effect 3, then delete the file Local_Profile.sav in the save folder. I lost all my achievements and bonus powers, but at least now the game doesn't crash within a second of starting. I would appreciate less painful fix however bioware.

I had this problem a couple of times recently, and it seemed to be Origin related due to the launcher. Basically, open up your Origin menu, browse to your Games menu, and right-click the Mass Effect 3 launch icon. Look for "Check for Updates", and select this. There seemed to be a small patch that corrected this issue.

Hope this helps

I took backup from my Savegames (I backuped all Bioware-folder) before I started the procedure...

After I got everything working again. I restored saved games to Bioware-folder and I was able to pinpoint the file causing trouble (4me) ../Save/Local_Profile.sav

Thank You Guys 4 Help!! *ThumbUp*
