Not wanting any spoilers really, I've only played six hours, but is Jarvik just a Zaeed 2.0?

He had a lot to say when he first came on board the Normandy, but now there aren't any conversations, just one liners from him. And when we're on a mission he interacts on occassion with the others and the story, but not much, sometimes he isn't even in the cut scene where another character would be, just a voice from off screen.

Does this change?

BTW, where do I find him? I played about 5 hours and couldn't find him.

Oh, I thought it would be on Mars. Haven't got to Eden Prime yet.

Speaking of Eden Prime has anyone worked out how to get the Cerberus Intel to the Eden Prime Resistance? I can't find a way to get the information to them.

It goes to them automatically.

Jarvik is probably the third best squadmate in the game so far(excluding Tali).

Based on? His abilities are pretty awesome, but if he doesn't start talking more I probably won't take him out again.

At the moment I'm running with Garrus and Liara, but I would really like to swap Liara out with someone else (Stasis is amazing though).

Are you done with the Eden Prime mission? Did you get all the pieces?

His dialogue in missions is great.

The side quest is fun, going back to Eden Prime, and if you have it on the proper difficulty, it IS a real challenge to beat. That said, the story elements, the back story, the effect of his presence on his crew, and abilities that he has...which are to say non-tech non-biotic non soldier. Are very much worth getting. He is one of the more interesting characters in the game, and if you are as big an appreciator of Liara, you will not regret it. (you get tons of extra dialogue).

Ship side he is one of the more unique and interestnig characters, He is practically mandatory for fans of ME1.

Hrrrm I might not have actually but I did complete the mission and all that. There wasn't much chance for a last minute search after opening the stasis pod.

I made sure I got all the pieces before getting the research to open the pod. There are three in total, so if you didn't get three, that would be why.

I guess I need to use him some more and see if his dialogue improves.

Make sure to bring him to Thessia to interact with him some more after the mission. There is also a conversation with him on the Citadel that is priceless.

I had the post-Thessia argument between Liara and Javik, and I took Liara/Garrus to Thessia.

He's also worth taking to Sur'Kesh, especially if Wrex is alive in your playthrough. They have some great banter.

Imho, Javik is probably the most uninteresting squad mate (after his mission) all he does is make wise cracks about the races and honestly, I found his powers to be mediocre on the battle field. If he did not come with my purchase of the CE I would have regretted spending 10 dollars on him.

The only thing ancient about Zaeed is his rifle.

Lift grenade is borderline overpowered, don't know what you are talking about.

Javik is great and he talks. He doesn't just stand around the garbage compactor telling old man war stories I don't care about. If you keep talking to him he eventually warms up a bit and stops being an insensitive jerk.

He changes the game substantially on Thessia. IMO, he feels like he was meant to be an original squadmate, rather than DLC.

From a gameplay perspective, Dark Channel is a ridiculously useful ability to set up biotic combos with. Every time it jumps to another enemy, it can be detonated again. So you can chain together explosions like nobody's business.

Personally, I found his perspective on the "young" races interesting. His confrontation with Liara post-Thessia is also a standout moment.

Jaavik has more dialogue than Ashley does; you just have to let him get over his sulking phase.  He is especially interesting to take along on missions with Liara.
