Javik is probably one of the more imporant characters in the game. If you carry him around, you'll learn alot more about the races in their earlier stages of their life, and how Prothean Civilization was like. + Abit more cultural experience. Let-alone, Javik provides alot of intresting dialogues inbetween when on the ship + shuttle.

+ Key component for when doing Thessia. I highly recommend having him on it, as well as checking out his quarters after-Thessia. A very emotional scene.

Bring him to Thessia, he has interesting insights and Liara has a confrontation with him later.

Hrrrm I might not have actually but I did complete the mission and all that. There wasn't much chance for a last minute search after opening the stasis pod.

Why it's always a good idea to explore every nook and cranny before completing the plot of a quest, there are 3 intels, if you did not get them before opening the pod, you cannot go back.

No, his fully fleshed out and has more dialogues than half the squad.

I would also suggest him for the Thessia mssion, his comments on the artifacts are most illuminating!

If anything, Ashley felt more like Zaeed than Javik did.

Yep, a DLC character introduced in the final installment of the game has just as much dialogue as a character who has been in the game since #1, and even featured on the cover

Near as I can tell, Javik has just as much dialog as any other squad mate, and just like any other squadmate, you only get the conversation wheel when you have a new conversation unlocked.

One thing though, be absolutely sure you take him on the Thessia mission. It makes a HUGE difference in how that mission plays out.

Not wanting any spoilers really, I've only played six hours, but is Jarvik just a Zaeed 2.0?

He had a lot to say when he first came on board the Normandy, but now there aren't any conversations, just one liners from him. And when we're on a mission he interacts on occassion with the others and the story, but not much, sometimes he isn't even in the cut scene where another character would be, just a voice from off screen.

Does this change?

Ill try not to spoil to much, basically he starts talking later, just go check on him from time to time. But there is one thing you have to take him on, and that is the mission to thessia. Always bring him as your other squad mate.

Javik is great and he talks. He doesn't just stand around the garbage compactor telling old man war stories I don't care about. If you keep talking to him he eventually warms up a bit and stops being an insensitive jerk.

I like hearing stories about how he was the only one to make it off the missions alive

He survived the suicide mission ,even if you see him dead or captured, you just don't know it yet.

Javik is a mixed bag of usefulness. If you play a class with no biotic powers he's pretty useless since Dark Channel is best used as a detonation source (damage by itself kinda sucks). I play an Infiltrator so powers like Pull, Lift Grenade, and Singularity just makes things harder to hit. However if you do play a biotic class his usefulness skyrockets.

As for dialog don't worry if you don't bring him to Thesia. Others in your crew will point out the obvious to Liara and you get a cool scene with Liara and Javik on your ship anyways. On my second play through I waited until I got Ashley back to go to Eden Prime so that I could hear her dialog (not much special so kind of a waste). He's got some cool dialog but if he doesn't mesh well with your class he becomes more of a burden in combat. I suppose you could combo him with Liara but then you're just missing out on other squadmates dialog.

So as I said, if you don't play with biotics you can safely leave him behind. If nothing else it made me wish I could have Samara and Thane on my squad. Those were the only two biotics I used in ME2. Just throw collectors off of ledges on the Collector Ship and Base and those missions were basically trivialized.

All the squadmates spout one liners that you can't interact with, you get more interactive dialogue with all of them, including Javik, the further you progress into the story.

Yeah that was really stupid. I made him a fire team leader. That didn't work out so well. You would think a guy that you know, LED A SMALL ARMY OF MERCS would have been a decent leader. Nope. Bastard bled out. Reload previous save...
