Just tried a reinstall of Origin and updated ME3 itself. It doesn't give me a chance to stop any updates from downloading and applying them. No improvement. Game registers as being in my Task Manager, but only using like 1273k of mem, and using no CPU power.

Thanks EA/Bioware. You've now joined Blizzard in the ranks of game developers that screw over their own customers with poor program updates/performance.

- Don't allow Origin to update after installation.

How you do it?
Mine demands update, and will not work as unupdated.

If I remember, after main installation, Origin gives you the option of activate autoupdate or not (If I remember). Turn it off.

If that doesn't appear try to cancel the update.

As I've said, after doing that my game has worked, but I don't really know where is the problem. :S

Well, I did everything, had a nice 2-hours live-chat with support, installing and de-installing and stuff. Was one step from re-installing Windows. And than a friend of mine told me to Join someones game.

I tried and it worked.

What is it I don't even...

Ah yes, updates. Fragments of software created to improve code and fix errors. We have dismissed that claim...

I had the same pb . I 'm quite angry right now: first I had to re install everything on my computer and even after copying my old saves Origin doesn't recognize (or find) the saves (even after trying different   folders...
So ALL my saves from mass effect1, 2 and 3 are useless....Great....Keep your saves did they say...right...
SO  trying to change my  idea  I go for a little MP...
But the game won't launch. I launch. it won't start.
I don't see why I should use of my rare free time to re install all these giga for a game that I don't really   wish  to play anymore since 1° I know the end already and 2 all my ancient saves that could eventually make me re play certain missions have vanished.
I start to find all this very much annoying (and those aren't the word that come to my mind when I feel this...

I Hope that will be fixed very soon...but hope is a word I start to lose  using for this  game  wich  is hurtfull  some howImage IPB

Last time I tried to uninstall Origin it wouldn't let me do it, kept telling me to close applications reg.exe. Also when I previously uninstalled then re-installed ME3, I was told that I wasn't an administrator, even though I'm the only account on my computer. I did a system restore back to a few days, and the game works once, but then it won't launch again. I'll just sit tight with my restored system and hope EA works out this Origin problem.

I got my copy of Mass effect 3 on Tuesday 22nd. First time I installed it worked. But I have not been able to get it to start since.
I get the error message“Origen (EP) is no longer running. Mass effect 3 will now close”
I have tried everything suggested here plus.

Using config to change setting before every attempt.
Run everything as administrator.
Run from short cut or Origin.
Update mass effect from inside Origin.
Delte browsing history.
Uninstall Origin and mass efffect 3, delete program folders and folders in My document. Then reinstall.
Run earlier copies of Origin, 8.6.0.355 and 8.5.2.23. Run with /nopdate command.
Bash head against wall until wall covered in blood.

I installed on laptop. Curiously so far works on laptop!?!?! I think this is why I can eventfully post here. Trouble laptop bailey satisfies minimal requirements and fire-fights using mouse pad are hell.

Oh Dragon Age II seems to work fine.

Not sure if this is same problem others have been having.

I suspect it is an origin problem. Maybe check this out, and send them a bug report like I just did. Fingers crossed.

Same problem here. I can't launch my game but there is a ME3 process using about 980k of memory and 0% CPU. Trying Oringin reinstall...
EDIT: Nothing, Oringin auto-updates no matter what and game doesn't launch...

Got this from the other thread. This works:

"From EA forum: Hey guys can you try the following:
exit origin
go to your origin install folder
rename IGO32.DLL to something else
relaunch origin and try launching your game"

Funny enough, Origin states it's missing a component and wants you to reinstall it.Image IPB

Well, thank you!

Ok. To those of us who are less tech inclined. How do I find this folder. I went to my c programs and typed in origin and I get a few folders. None saying Origin install. There is a Origin uninstall but thats as close as I can seem to get. Could anyone provide some assistance?

Thanks for the info. Sadly for me it has not worked. Both Origin and Mass Effect 3 still will not launch. Anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks! Got it fixed. :)

Damn Origin, being a "Steam-wannabe", it's crappy as hell. Oh well, problem solved anyways hehe.
