I was shocked the first time I heard that too.....my first thought was "did this dude just say he had a husband.....WTH"......then I terminated the conversation ASAP, never spoke with him again and then he died during Priority Earth so it's just whatever I guess.
Same here lol. Though have no problem with his gayness. Wish he hadnt died. Apparently you can prevent it.

Still kind of annoyed that they felt the need to hold him "hostage" like that. They didn't do it with any other character. It's a rather heavy-handed way to try to make people feel guilty.

I thought it was pretty obvious he was. Don't recall him dying. Let's not do the why gay is right/wrong lifestyle choice thread. Please.
I think he dosn't die if you talk to him. Strange choice mechanic, but whatever.
I had a femshep and went with Traynor, btw.

Grunt dies if you don't help him with his problems. So does Zaeed. It is hinted that Kasumi dies too if she's not loyal.frylock23 wrote...

Yes, he does. He died in my first playthrough because I didn't follow up his arc. I didn't realize that he moved around the Normandy, so after talking to him about the recording of his husband, he disappeared, and I assumed that I didn't need to talk to him anymore. As a consequence, I didn't chase up his arc, and he died.
Afterwards when I was cruising the forums, I discovered that if you don't pursue his arc all the way, he'll die. I also learned that he moves around the Normandy's docking bay like the other characters unlike Traynor who always stands at her one post and is easy to find (I assumed he was like her).
IMO, it was kind of annoying that they did it. It was like they were holding Steve "hostage" against all those people who'd feel creeped out and never talk to him again after finding out he had a husband -> like a massive guilt trip. They didn't do it with any other character. No one else can die if you don't talk to them all the way through the game. So, why is Steeeeeeeeeve the only one?
It's too bad because otherwise he's a good character, and I like him better than 6,000 credit "toothbrush" Traynor.

awwwwwww, that's kinda mean, I can't remember how much the Puruvian Whiskey costs, but it was totally worth it

And I don't have Kasumi, so I wouldn't know. I never bought her DLC, so you can't hang that one on me.
And you're comparing ME2 characters to a drop in ME3 minor character. Why didn't they do the same treatment to Traynor? Why didn't they do the same treatment to Vega? They're closer to Steve in terms of appearance and place in the story.

You're seriously scared of talking to a gay character in a video game? What the hell?

Well that we can agree on. Kaidan is the best of the bunch, but he's been there since ME1.

I agree. I have no problems with gays, but the fact they try to guilt trip you and pretty much force you to talk to him just to save him sucks. They didn't take half as much effort with anyone else. You could barely converse with other people at times, even a LI, their dialogue would just be them talking to you and not a full conversation.

If you care about the character enough to not want him to die then I don't think talking to him should be a proböem.vixvicco wrote...

I know right, who does an half-a** job of role playing? I still can't get over the fact that I forgot to talk to Liara after Thessia falls cos I got caught up with the missions, well that's just me

Good point actually. It would have been good if they did that with other characters though. Because its one person, you don't suspect it.

Maybe they didn't want to repeat themselves too mcuh? They already did it with Steve and several ME2 squadmates.frylock23 wrote...
