Cortez is one of the best gay characters written in a videogame. He does not act all flamboyant for one.. and he is actually a really nice person, and you can feel for him regardless of your own gender.

Female gay characters always come across to me as too "fake" and "forced" like.. put there just for the lolz of people who wants to see lesbians...

Actually, femshep can't have gay alien sex. Liara isn't a woman. Or a man. Asari only have one gender. I know it's tough to get your head around it, but there it is.  They are equipped as females because any one of them can give birth and nurture a child - as to why that means they have to look mostly like human women?  I don't know.

It just feels like Liara and femshep is a gay relationship because Liara looks like a female.

Just occurred to me that The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. LeGuin was about a race like the asari, but not generally as hot.  It is a pretty good story.

You know, a child has to emerge from their bodies somewhere - and they never actually state where on an asari.  Perhaps they actually vomit the child from their mouth.  Perhaps there is no vagina - no one actually says as much, though Aethyta kind of implies it in one line on the Citadel.  The thing isn't required for asari reproduction, anyway - that much is stated.

WHAT!???!?! There's a GAY in this game? Oh my God, does that mean I'm going to turn gay now, because I talked to him? I guess it speaks volumes about people when they take notice of this and feel the need to point it out. I spoke to Cortez and just thought he was like every character in the Mass Effect universe.

I come to the forums and are people speaking about Cortez's character? His emotional arc? No. He's gay. Sigh.
