So, do ya think it's the critisism that unstickied the thread?

Yep. i think were lucky, as normally anything that criticises the game gets lock for company bashing or no reply is given only when locking it or removing spam.Image IPB

But if Bioware can be trusted to have good sense here, they should be more
concerned by the customer reviews (and not the critics), for the players
pay for their business.

Espeically since EA essentially pays the critics themselves anyway with their ad dollars.  Can you say "conflict of interest"?

Metacritic user scores:
4.9/10 with 2,200+ scores submitted (Xbox)
3.8/10 with 2,600+ scores submitted (PC)
3.8/10 with 800+ scores submitted (PS3)

These scores are after Metacritic aggressively deleted negative reviews, too, so these are the "best-case" scores for Bioware.  Originally they were as low as 2.2/10.

Amazon.com:
1 star out of 5 most common vote for ME3 products

That's a pretty brutal customer response right there.  But hey, publications funded in part by EA advertising money gave it good reveiws so it's all OK, right?

 indeed.

^This.

I don't think I've ever seen such a huge disparity between general player (dis-)satisfaction and the professional critical reviews ... in any media (books movies whatever).

This is telling, and I suppose reflects the disparity between an extremely good 95% of a game, and an extremely bad ending 5%.

Basically for anyone invested in the story - meaning the players and fans and not the critics - the extremely terrible ending will cause more damage to their rating than the mitigating previous 95% of the game.

But if Bioware can be trusted to have good sense here, they should be more concerned by the customer reviews (and not the critics), for the players pay for their business.

Thing is, it's not just the endings.

Several NPCs were cartoonishly wasted.  MP is a cram-in farce.  Origin is a crock.  Clown rolling in combat is cringe-inducing.   Etc.   Etc.   Etc.

This game is very far to be perfect so i don't understand the "professional" reviews giving 10/10.

In my mind there's no game - or any product for that matter - worth a 10/10. So someone rating it that high isn't to be taken seriously in any case.

if you read through some of the reviews they point leaps of design and problems with the gameplay and so on but still give a perfect score, makes no sense.

Yeap.

The review rags and websites get advertising dollars from the companies whose products they're reviewing, they rely on the companies for pre-release access and swag, etc.

Maybe they dont understand that without credability they will have no traffic, which means no money from ad. revenue when this becomes clear, or maybe they do and have decided that milking the golden goose while they can is the only option! (and looking for the next cash cow)

only grip with the ending for me is that i always pictured my shep geting sacrificed but in a way that makes sense, the whole star child and space magic seems that they only thought through the whole thing up till earth then scrambled to come up with an idea to end it

Once they made the Reapers into silly Lovecraftian spacegods, they couldn't just have a, you know, war to end things... had to include space magic and an artsy ending full of "meaning".

Take a look at COD: MW3 in Metacritic. The disparity is even bigger.

Looking back, those scores are way too inflated, and that's not just because the ending sucked. I know that the game review scale(s) is entirely broken, but the average score should have been around 7/10.

Music wasn't the best of the series.
Animation, pretty bad.
Sidequests, where were they? Variety?
Lack of choice, especially compared to the rest of the series.
Gameplay didn't feel as tight.
Emotional impact was there because we were already invested from the previous two games, and apart from tugging on that, the story didn't really do much. Super space weapon at the start, sequence of events was iffy, wrapping up in one of the biggest gaming blunders ever.

And the majority of reviewers gave it a higher score than the other two games? 10/10's... so they were honestly satisfied with everything to the max? Sure, it's Mass Effect, and we all love the series, but the game wasn't that great.

All those perfect reviews and they still can't even come close to the hallowed 10 million copies sold barrier. Pathetic.

ok people let me honest , the game wasn't bad most important is a quest journal update .
that was a bit messy and lack of oversight ,,,

Other then that the game even if black and white too often with choices .
Was really good , especially if you import saves , there were tons of decisions and different dialogues, just the ending was bad ..

does that ruin the game ? no , sure the scores has been inflated , that we already know .
But don't say those score are not realistic with what is coming out every month .

So you have to be fair .

The game was the worst of the three. "Mainstreamed" like DA2, although that game is the true abomination.

ME3 deserves the Worst Ending Ever Award, and BioWare the Biggest Freaking Liars Ever Award.

Why would anyone who seriously reviews a game give it 10/10 or a 5/5

Are we expected to believe that they thought the game was the best game ever created, with absolutely 0 problems in any part of it.

Pointless scoring system seems pointless.

I don't think I would rate even my most beloved and bestest game ever a 10/10 or a 5/5 it's almost an impossibility. And more to the point what is the point of reading a review that scores like that, it's clearly not going to accurately review a product.

Regardless it seems overall that ME3 was well received, Well done Bioware.

Most reviewing sites admit that no game is perfect but games that are excelling and where their flaws are outweighed by what they are doing right that is what a 10/10 is. It doesn't mean the game is perfect but it means that it is one of the best games out there.
