I thought the game was amazing, played all of the games 1-3 with 5-7 profies.

I know the game was amazing til the end. I would give it 95/100 because of the bugs.
If the ending does not get changed I would probably give this game a 65/100.
becuase the ending completely ruined the game.

(Excuse the weird formatting, I tried to copy this from Word... :-))

My Mass Effect 3 score: 55/100.

And half of that is just because of the awesome multiplayer. You really messed this one up, I’m very disappointed.

[*]Improvements to movement. I love all the new rolling and jumping.
[*]Improvements to AI, especially squad mate AI.
[*]Awesome conversations with squad mates, particularly the ones with Garrus and Joker. But not enough of them. You said you wanted have less and deeper characters – that’s not what I see.
[*]Living universe. Things actually change while you’re gone. People do stuff and you can get involved, support either side. People move around, are in different places.
[*]New exploration system. Definitely better than before, although it’s kind of weird that such a big part of the war effort seems to be based on relics.
[*]Multiplayer is awesome.
[*]More customisation. But people still don't carry their own weapons in cutscenes. Instead, they run around with Avengers and Predators all the time - and it's not like the animations are so awesome that you could use "didn't want to animate each weapon separately" as an argument here. What's the point of visually changing weapons if you never get the chance to really look at them?
[*]Not enough room to be badass.
[*]The beginning is a bit weak. And has zero replay value. Reminds me of Baldur’s Gate 2, where we actually needed a dungeon-be-gone mod.
[*]The ending is even weaker. See below.
[*]The tie-ins with stuff from the previous game are sometimes good and seamless (e.g. blowing up the batarian system), but sometimes they also feel awkward and forced, even to the point where they are completely superfluous (Zaeed, Kasumi, Miranda).
[*]The game lacks epicness. The trailers promised a lot more than I got. There are great moments, like when you hit Earth and have that bright light we know from the trailers, but there could have been so many many more if you had pulled it off right. A little more epic music, a little more special forces feeling, maybe one more tragic moment. Those tragic moments were pretty good actually, particularly liked the one with Thane. But the game obviously isn’t a tragedy, so those alone won’t keep it afloat.
[*]Shorter than expected (and promised!). It took me 27 hours to get through it, compared to over 35 in ME2 and 60 in ME1 (although that was due to mineral searching...).
[*]Summaries of ME1 and ME2 for new players are a little too intrusive at times. Why didn’t you just include a proper intro video to explain all this stuff when a player doesn’t import a character? Let’s face it: Part three of a trilogy is NEVER the “best time to start”, so don’t advertise this and especially don’t try to fix this by repeating everything.
[*]Some story stuff:
Udina as Councillor. You really took the easy way out here if the player didn’t choose what you considered canon.
[*]The kid. – Why? What’s the point of showing him all the time? Of the dreams? It all doesn’t make sense.
[*]Why can’t we at least try to mediate between Geth and Quarians?I can’t help it but notice that both the game’s and the novels’ stories went right down the drain the moment Karpyshyn left. Especially all the drama, death and destruction just for the sake of having them are a common theme now. I wonder if that’s coincidence.
[*]Too streamlined. I wasn’t stupid enough to believe the “countless endings” story you tried to sell, but it really does boil down to exactly the same thing, regardless of what you do. Why do I play the game at all? I don’t even SEE any of the people I convinced in the final battle, where it gets really epic. Or should get.Performance. Some levels feel more like a burning graphics card than a burning planet and there’s no technical reason for that.
The Collector's Edition is a huge disappointment. To sum it up:
Robot Dog: Total joke. Does nothing, not even “follow Shepard”.
[*]Additional weapons: I like the Valient and the Eagle. Don’t like the rest.
[*]Additional outfits: Less cool than the ones that are in the game anyway imho, but that’s a matter of taste obviously
[*]Lithograph: It’s a postcard, so call it that. I actually feel deceived here.
[*]N7 patch: Don’t really have use for that. Didn’t players wish for a Normandy model when you asked them?
[*]Package: Steelbook is nice and I love the black slipcase, but I really don’t like the fact that the USK logo is printed onto it in my country. Ever heard of removable stickers? Also, would it have been so much more expensive to actually glue the whole thing together? Seems a bit cheap to just fold it.
[*]Artbook: Nice, but rather small.Comic: Seems to be more of a demo version of the full novel.
[*]Day one DLC: The monetary value of this one pretty much saves the whole CE.
The ending sucks. I think this is the greatest story disappointment I have ever experienced, across all media, ever. I want a happy ending, with a living Shepard, living friends and LIs and with some sort of epilogue. I also want the freedom to let it all go to hell if I want, let the Reapers harvest everyone, blow up the Normandy or let whole planets burn. I don’t want you to force as much destruction and pain on me as you can get away with in a half-open ending that raises more questions than it answers and just seems to be trying to do as many things wrong as you possibly can.
[*]Let me repeat this: The ending sucks!
[*]Overall, you totally overdid it with marketing and moneymaking. Putting my dead Shepard onto my stranded Normandy and telling me to go play some more DLC just makes me speechless. There are also quite a few promises that were not kept. The game isn’t longer than ME2, it’s not as epic as you promised (or as it could have been!), it does not have an ending anywhere near what I would call satisfying and it doesn’t tie up all the loose ends either. There’s also the matter with the Prothean, who by himself isn’t anywhere near as high-quality as, say, Kasumi, and who certainly isn’t integral to the story, but who still adds to it in a way that you would not want to miss as a player.

I seriously hope that you are developing some kind of “ending DLC” to reveal that Shepard was just dreaming the whole ending and is now waking up to experience the real one. I’d even pay for that.

Mass Effect 3 - 90/100
------------------------------

+Graphics
+Story
+Good Characters
+Solid Questing
+Interesting Twists
+Emotional Rollercoaster
+Excellent Sound Effects / Musicial Score
+Good Equipment and Character Customization
+Great Story Arcs
+No Real Plot Holes Off-hand
+Excellent Finale

------------------------------

-Tali's Face was Un-inspired and Lack Luster. Not to mention it was just a poor photoshop.
-Jacob Lived while Mordin and Legion Died?! Why?
-You let Jacob Live over Thane??? What about Mordin's cure?
-What happened to the Rachni end game? I didn't hear anything about their ships.
-Certain portions of the game were excessively hard. Even on lower difficulties; trial and error was required.
-Lighting Issues. Why is my Shepards face "green" or "blue"?...
-Xbox 360 had trouble recognizing my Shepards face. Patch please!
-Poor Multiplayer community. No cooperative skills, all a bunch of little whiney brats.
-I expected more from the Romance/Friendship things other than a small cutscene.
-I don't see how you can ever expand on Mass Effect as a series now due to the variable endings.
-Tali didn't get to go home after all in the end...
-Seemed a bit of a let down in terms of "your decisions matter". A lot was forgotten...

------------------------------

I think over all the game was excellent and the cooperative mode is awesome with friends; but the community plus all of the "left out" stuff really put a damper on my mood...I wanted to see Shepard and his blue babies (Liara!) or Shepard getting married and talking to his grand children about how he helped bring the universe together...I want to know what happened to Shepard in my ending; I saw his chest move - he lived - he took a breath...After all that hell he went through I wanted at least for him to have a happy ending...

But nothing...I'm all for a "sad - hero dies" ending..but really...the build up should have lead to a specific pre-chosen ending based on your actions; not something that ignores all choices, and boils it down to "rock, paper, scissors". I hope that you guys at Bioware/EA can rebound with continuation DLC to help us get ready for the next installment of the Mass Effect Series (even if it doesn't involve Shepard).

Thanks for the read.

I loved the Mass Effect series because of the story telling and dialogue which were probably the key factors that made the gameplay so much richer. Mass Effect 3 seemed to go along this root but then fell off abruptly at the end of the game. I was expecting some confrontation with harbinger because of his significane in mass effect 2 but instead I get to talk to a little glowing kid who at this point represents some child from Earth who was killed at the beginning that I was suppose to  care about through some "dream" sequences. I thought to myself no final confrontation to the reapers? I find out some robot child thing wants me to decide what he should do next that has nothing to do with my squad or the war or anything that I worked so hard to get the perfect ending. Apparently, the child robot has the ability to create synthesis the whole damn time and yet he needs shepard to do it. I don't understand this because wouldn't it be much more efficient to create synthesis with one person who could've been anyone rather then harvesting WHOLE POPULATIONS? Really bioware when did you start eating the crayons that you apparently wrote this game with. Here's some questions, what happened to my squad? Why build up harbinger to not even fight him? why are the mass relays destroyed no matter what even if I control the reapers? wtf did you do with your writers?

I'm not one for numbers but I'll just say: before the ending: 85/100
                                                                 after the ending: 0/100

A pure zero may seem harsh, but it's only because the ending makes the previous 25 hours of gameplay obsolete as well as all the gameplay and decisions from the previous two Mass Effects.  I think a good comparison to Mass Effect 3 is RepoMen (2010) where just before the last 10 minutes everything is solid, but then it all falls apart.  I enjoyed watching RepoMen, but after the ending I felt cheated; similar to how I feel with Mass Effect 3.  Now by all means it was a solid game, but it's a dragon with clay feet.

Good/Enjoyable Parts
  • you get straight into the action right from the beginning
  • combat is fun
  • Attempts to tie the two previous Mass Effects together
  • graphics are amazing and smooth
  • I love how the crew interacts with one another
  • Armor and Weapon customization are great
  • the very intense epic moments (often cutscenes but no exclusively)
  • The Tali romance gift (but perhaps thats personal preference)
  • Joker and Edi, 'nough said
  • The introduction of homosexual relationships is a very inclusive gesture on BW's part (beyond Liara and FemShep)
  • The From Ashes DLC and the Prothean filled in a lot of gaps in the Mass Effect storyline
  • The story is kind of half ass but still works for the majority of the game (ending's excluded)
The Average
  • The Multiplayer: it's ok, nothing fancy or exciting, basically a bad rip off of Gears of War Horde mode which took away resources which could've been allocated to the single player story

The Bad
  • Having to pass through the barrier (between the Galatic Map and War Room) on the Normandy is annoying
  • The reduction of the RPG element
  • fewer dialogue options; it really put annoying constraints on MY Shepard
  • It really does have a leading by the nose from set piece to set piece
which makes me feel unnecessary to the story (further on the lack of RPG
    elements to begin with)
  • The Child that dies and nightmare sequences; whether Shepard cares should be optional to the player
  • The fetch missions were annoying and tedious
  • The Journal didn't offer enough mission information especially for the fetch quests
  • I got the Collectors Edition but still the From Ashes DLC should've been free to all (similar to Zaeed in ME2)
  • Diana Allers voice acting is, to be polite, not that good
  • The lack of diversity among enemies; there's only 3 groups: Cerberus, Geth and the Reapers
  • The very small squad selection
  • The ship seems very empty partly due to the very small squad selection
  • Due to the ending your actions across the past two Mass Effect are largely irrelevant
The Very Bad and Clay Feet of Mass Effect 3

The Ending. The Ending is complete crap, especially by Bioware standards. It screams "We ran out of money and had to make the three ending exactly the same minus a small colour differation," or "We're greedy and just short changed you so we could charge you for DLC" either way this is cause for me to boycotte any further Bioware content; I won't be renewing my Old Republic subscription and I certainly won't be purchasing anymore products associated with Bioware until this is resolved.  The Ending also doesn't justify the waste of resources on multiplayer which, if reallocated, could've given a much better game and hopefully by proxy a much better ending.  The first thoughts when the idea became public knowledge was "This had better not ruin the single player."  Given the lack of diversity among enemies, the small crew selection and the terrible ending, I would say it did.

Let me just tell how I played Mass Effect 3, 25 hours straight start to finish.  Before I continue, anyone that says the
journey is more important than the destination I say, if I was to walk
to the park (the park being my destination) and when I arrived at the park I tripped and fell face first into fresh dog crap I'm sure I wouldn't care if the walk to the park was somehow the most epic experience that life has to offer.  Bioware had managed to create this epic and immersive experience which I enjoyed thoroughly until the bitter end.  I even found myself role-playing in a game that heavily restricts that; before the "final mission" to reclaim Earth I found myself going up to Shepard's cabin and looking at Tali's gift that she had given and thinking "This is why I have to stop the Reapers."  I must add an aside here to say the Tali Shepard story was awesome and very much enjoyed but again rang hollow due to the ending.

The battle to reclaim Earth, ground side at least because as usual the space cinematics were awesome, felt unimpressive and not at all the climatic battle it should've been.  It was still you and your two favourite squadmates (selected out of a possible group of 6 if you have the DLC) versus waves of Reaper foes.  Although Bioware did a great job in creating these emotional moments between you and your 4-6 squadmates at the end the action seemed lacking.  I saw another person on this forum post how Harbinger only appears for a few brief seconds and in hindsight its true there wasn't really much going on between Harbinger and Shepard like there had been in Mass Effect 2.

Now I said the story leading up to the end was pretty solid, but still I have to add the Crucible seemed just like a conveniant escape route instead of something to drive the story.  The Crucible has been called Deus Ex machina and here is a short exert from wikipedia, "A deus ex machina is generally undesirable in writing and often implies a lack of creativity on the part of the author."  When I got to the Citadel for the ending sequence I had this feeling, "I'm almost there, soon Shepard will defeat the Reapers, soon he will retire back to Rannoch with Tali and build a family.  Instead I'm greeted with the one of the largest middle fingers I've ever seen.  The ending made no sense, offered no closure, and really it took away all enjoyment of every previous hour of gameplay leading up to it.

Now a simple recommendation as to how Bioware can fix all this and regain the fanbase it's alienating: FREE DLC which changes the ending so there's more choices and that our actions actually make a difference.  I say free because this isn't the Mass Effect we the consumers have waited for and now unfortunately paid for.  Bioware knew they would make money on this game regardless and the fact they did such a shobby job at the end is unprofessional and unforgiveable.

If anyone from Bioware is reading this, please check these polls, 10,000+ people say new endings.
http://social.biowar...06/polls/28989/

Please, don't let this be another Dragon Age II.

I'd love to give a thorough review of the game, but so many others have expressed almost exactly how I feel. It's amazing until the last 5 minutes of the game with the SpaceNeoJesus Child and the Deus Ex ending...

10/10 before the ending.

3/10 after the ending.

The end means a lot. Please read the comments of others and fix what was the greatest game I've ever played...

March 5.

Playthroughs ready for ME3: 11.

Playthoughs finished: 1

Never importing again.

I spent a good year of my life waiting for Mass Effect 3 by talking in forums, reading fanfics, and above all else, playing Mass Effect 1 and 2 to make the most interesting playthroughs ever. I was looking forward to seeing Kolyat react to his father being killed in action. Kaiden dealing with all of his survivor guilt. Shepard and his (her) Love Interests living their days out in happiness. So many more possibilities and predictions ran through my head for months while in anticipation of Mass Effect 3.

None of my anticipations came through. It feels that Bioware has pulled another Mass Effect: Deception. The ending was horrifying for one reason and one reason only. It defeated the canon. Bioware could have done so much better, and I will continue to support them with many of the story they write, because they are fantastic writers. Mass Effect 3 felt rushed in terms of story and gameplay. I will be using a fantiction as my interpretation as canon for the plot. I know the writing was most likely a difficult process, but honestly, I would have rather had to wait two more years for Mass Effect 3 than play that.

I loved the story, hated the ending. What happend to my friends, what happend to galatic civilization?

Some issues with the graphics. Cutscene with bulging eyes broken necks and missing people.

Some times had difficulty with movement and getting to cover.

Mission journal wasn't very clear. What star cluster do I go to? Have I already got what they want?

95/100 befor end, 25/100 after end.

Great characters and quest plots with twists depending on choices

Combat has been improved

Multiplayer and single player work well together

Mutiplayer is fun and has replayability

-Issues

for combat the cover system was clumsy at times, when I wanted to run i stuck to a wall

Quest journal could have offered more advice for the 'search for the point' quests

Confusing endings, i don't want to say plot holes but areas do need clearing up

Great game and characters. Amazing story and gameplay.
Have to knock 30 points off due to a rushed ending which takes little into account what I've done as shepard over 3 games.

I never post in forums. I have had a Bioware Social Network ID for a long time, but usually just lurk and listen. Mass Effect 3 has given me the incentive to finally make my voice known. When the developers said that they wanted the game to get emotion out of the player, no truer statement had ever been said. Yet I doubt this is the emotion that they wished for.

But first, the positives...

The overall campaign of the game was amazing. There were some flaws - the random fetch quests even caused me to have to use a paper and pen to try and figure things out since the journal wouldn't update. This pulled me away from the experience only slightly, and I could overlook it. Hell, the whole reason I was doing all of the quests was because I needed the War Assets. So, if it would help my Shepard in the end, I was all for it .

The storyline within the game of uniting the different species to fight the main threat was well done. I was happy that we were able to see the genophage storyline continue from the original game. It was also great to see the Quarians be able to return home. The storylines not only helped further the current plot, but also gave fans of the previous two games some closure in those recurring plot threads.

The voice acting made the whole experience so emotional. Jennifer Hale is a big part of this. She just embodies the role and makes every line sound like it is truly fluid with the scene at hand. And in the case of my Shepard, Hale's emotion went hand in hand with that of Raphael Sbarge's Kaidan Alenko. The whole romance storyline between the two characters was so fulfilling and the ending dialogue between the two characters was heartbreaking. I could hardly see the screen my eyes were so glassy with tears that were waiting to fall.

But now, the major negatives...

I am not a multiplayer person. I understand the need for it and am quite happy to see it included as I know that it appeals to many. I don't play Bioware games for the action as much as the story. I have loved the stories that the company has crafted since Baldur's Gate, with the Mass Effect series only adding to my overall admiration of the storytelling that the company has been able to achieve in games. With multiplayer now being a key role of the single player campaign, I tried my hand at it and failed miserably. It is just not fun or entertaining for me. The fact that I cannot get enough War Assets to satisfy the "Shepard lives" ending in singleplayer is irritating. I did every sidequest, every fetch quest and was still over a thousand assets short (thanks to the 50% Readiness).  I hope that maybe the Galactic Readiness is somehow configured to not sway so heavily toward Multiplayer and external sources. Either that or some supplemental way (whether through in-game credits or even Microsoft points at the worst) to purchase War Assets to aid in those who do not want to play multiplayer.

The conclusion to the game that was supposed to be the end of Commander Shepard's story left more questions than answers. There are many theories floating around about how the ending after the beam was a hallucination
or part indoctrination. Honestly, the theories have some compelling points. And that is the core problem with the ending - nothing is certain... well, other than the fact that you get to pick from three predetermined outcomes that have little to do with anything the character has accomplished from the three games. There are slight variations in how well the player prepared, but they are all the same. In the end, our Shepards all become the same Shepard.

For such a long time Bioware fan, the endings came as a shock. I know that the Dragon Age II endings were not the best received, but I was not too frustrated with them. It was the second game in a series and I hoped that more questions and actual choice would come about in the final installment of the series. That was what I was hoping for here. There was no sense of customization in the ending. A True Paragon Shepard could end up the same as a True Renegade Shepard if they prepared well enough.

And even though the game was always about Commander Shepard, it would be nothing without the supporting cast. Joker flying the Normandy away from Earth and the battle seemed out of place, but I could understand if the explosion caused it. But the fact that they landed on a jungle planet - with the crew that was part of my Hammer force on the ground - didn't make any sense. Shepard was barely alive in the Citadel, but Kaidan was wound free and aboard the Normandy? It didn't make sense. Nothing really made sense and all I was left with was an empty feeling that this was how my five year in the making story would end

I have lost my passion to play the game again or the other games in the series for that matter. Without explication, the ending seems incomplete, and thus, any numeric grade would be impossible. I don't really believe in numeric grading to begin with because an RPG of this magnitude could never be rated in the same class as let's say a Sports game. But if I knew that this was truly the end of Shepard's journey and that the fate of the Normandy was really what was shown in game, I would rate the series a 66/100 (the 34 points subtracted solely because of this game's lack of rating).

NOTE: I apologize for the lack of paragraphs.  I copied and pasted from my NOTES on my iPad. I am unable to scroll through here and separate my paragraphs.

I would like to establish logos here in order to convey my thoughts, questions and concerns in a way that will be taken seriously. I am a 32 year old female, married to a USAF officer, and have a 6 year old daughter. I am also currently a USC graduate student earning my MA in teaching. I am hoping to pursue a career in teaching high school English literature. Anyway, now that you know a little bit about me, I would like to discuss my thoughts, concerns, and feelings regarding ME3, preferably the endings of the game. I have played all three Mass Effect games with an intense passion. I have lost track how many times I have been engrossed in the games, creating new characters, playing in many different styles, and choosing various paragon and renegade options.
According to Aristotle, a good story encompasses six elements. The plot is listed as the number one element, followed by the characters. There are many people who argue that the element of a story's characters should be number one instead of the plot. to each his own. However, in my opinion, I believe it is the characters that drive the plot. Therefore, since Mass Effect has enriching characters, I have come to the realization that the series is my all-time favorite in all of my gaming experiences. And I have been playing video games since the release of the original Nintendo and Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda. With that said, I am hoping you will be able to understand where my passion comes from regarding Mass Effect.
First and foremost, ME3 flows beautifully and coherently. The dialogue cut scenes and the action scenes mesh well. The graphics seem a lot sharper than the last two games. I think this was well done by the graphic designers.
I enjoyed exploring the Normandy. I felt excited walking around every corner or before opening every door. It was drastically changed from the Cerberus design, but I believe for the better. The Normandy in ME2 felt superficial, almost like an institution. I guess the atmosphere was fitting, considering it was built by Cerberus. However, the atmosphere in the Normandy in ME3 created a more intimate setting. The hues of orange and dark blue conveyed a military feel as well as a somber and serious tone. This setting helped emphasize Shepard's emotional journey.
I was also impressed with the cueing of the music throughout the game, especially right before a battle. It made feel like I could kick anyone's butt. It pumped me up and made me happy that I pre-ordered the collector's edition which enabled me to download the soundtrack for free. The quality of the music was done extremely well. Thank you to the composers who worked hard on the music.
Regarding the Kinect: I absolutely loved issuing orders. I think adding the Kinect feature in ME3 was a brilliant idea. I never thought I would own a Kinect. However, it was only because of ME3 that allowed me to consider the possibility of playing the game in a new way. I first used the Kinect with the demo. After issuing orders to Garrus and Liara, I could not wait to try it with the other characters who have numerous power skills. During the game, it was a satisfying and the most bad ass moment when I used cryo ammo on a Batarian reaper (sorry, I forgot the official name), issued Liara to use singularity, then James to use carnage. The Batarian shattered in a million frozen pieces in the air. The sound of it shattering was most satisfying.
I really appreciated the emotions portrayed by the characters, especially Shepard. I could tell that BioWare wanted ME3 to be more of an emotional and personal story. I would like to say that I believe BioWare's artists did a wonderful job with this aspect of the game. There is a scene in one of Shepard's dreams, where he sees himself with the child and then they both are on fire. Shepard's facial expression was priceless. It is not often we see Shepard shocked or bewildered. The little boy had such a huge effect on him from the beginning of the game. Almost every decision Shepard made, he made it with the boy, a symbol that represents all humanity, in mind.
The atmosphere, or the tone of dialogue scenes are a lot more realistic or should I say intimate? For instance, while speaking with Garrus for the first time in the Normandy, there are computers and other devices in the background that make the scene more realistic. Maybe it is the colors or tone of the Normandy. As a player, I felt as if I was in the scene with them, listening in on their conversation.  I have not experienced this in ME1 or ME2.
I was hoping Aria T'Lok would play a huge part in the third installment. But she just sat in the Purgatory club the entire game! Sure, she was there to help Shepard unite the mercenary factions, but I was hoping Shepard would bring her along on the Normandy to help kick Reaper butt. She would have been the most unconventional ally. It would have also been interesting to see the interactions between her and the other characters.  I am at least glad that she has her own comic book series.
Sine I am a big Ashley fan, I am unsure if I like the fact that she was hospitalized for a good portion at the beginning of the game. Why? I could not put her on my squad for certain missions. Shepard and Ashley don't even discuss the fact that Ashley was nearly crushed to death. I think the accident (well, I wouldn't really call it an accident but more like an attempt of murder) would have really resonated with Shepard, causing him to fully appreciate and unconditionally accept his love for Ashley. I was looking forward to a lot of dialogue with these two, but somehow, I feel let down and a bit robbed. In addition, what was the point of making Ashley (or Kaidan) a Spectre? I could not find any significance. Her fate would have been the same regardless. I know she was there to help protect the council and Udina on the Citadel, but I think the non-Spectre Ashley would still feel compelled to help and protect them anyway she could.
RANDOM THOUGHTS: Returning to the citadel was easy by requesting exactly where you need to go instead of having to travel in elevators, long hallways, or various wards. Thank you for not wasting our time doing that.
I actually enjoyed scanning the different systems for war assets, items, fuel, etc. Often, I would find myself screaming for the Normandy to evade the Reapers when they discover my presence. The sound of the Reapers discovering you can be quite scary and made me make haste to get out if the system. They move pretty fast too. Thank you for not having us scan for minerals. Thank you for omitting the bypass and hacking mini games.
Other times I found myself screaming: at phantoms, brutes and banshees (especially when they shriek).
Thank you, shepard finally runs normally.
One small complaint: the loading time when customizing Shepard's appearance (choosing his casual wear or armor) takes quite a long time to load in order for me to view the customized items. I don't know if I was the only one experiencing this, but I wanted to mention it here just in case I am not the only one.
Miranda and Ashley had zero interaction together. Even in the mission at Sanctuary, they did not say a single word to each other. I thought Shepard cheating with Miranda would have grave consequences with Ashley? Ashley, while recovering at Huerta Memorial, only brought up Miranda's name. Anyway, my Shepard told Miranda that he still has feelings for her. However, he never gets caught by Ashley and still ends up with her in the end. I mean, Ashley still decides to sleep with Shepard, regardless of his cheating and lies. My question is, what were the grave consequences of Shepard being disloyal? Does this affect the outcome of the game? Does this affect whether or not Ashley is seen at the end at the crashed Normandy sight? Does it affect her happiness or whether she lives or not? How do we know what happened to Ashley?
Also, my Shepard was a Spacer. He only got word from Alliance brass that his mother, Hannah Shepard, who was promoted to Rear Admiral, was helping with the Crucible. It would have been nice for Shepard to have some sort if resolution, or goodbye, with her. In the first game, Shepard (if he was a Spacer) got to complete a small mission regarding his mother (Zabaleta). We even got to listen to their video call. Hannah Shepard has a voice, so it would have been nice to hear her voice again in the third game. If she was working on the Crucible, it would have been neat to see a cut scene of her, working with Hackett and/or other Alliance officers.
Anderson called Shepard "son" a few times in the series. I got the impression he did not really get along with one or both of his biological sons from the novels and email from Anderson's ex wife in ME2. It was a nice touch considering Shepard lost his father. Also, I keep reading online about "saving Anderson" on the Citadel. I am confused about this. Does Anderson not die no matter what? If not, how does Shepard choose to save him?
Ending: Joker and EDI (or depending on your gameplay, other characters) end up on a lush planet, or is it earth? It doesn't look like earth because of the multiple moon/planets you can see in the foreground.  If it is not earth, what the hell was Joker doing passing through mass relays during the war? And how did Ashley end up on the Normandy? She was right beside Shepard on earth right before he was almost killed and beamed up to the Citadel. Is BioWare planning on expanding these characters' stories through other novels, comics, cartoons? I mean, I feel like nothing was conclusive. I feel like I have more questions than answers.
I was not exactly clear on the options at the end. There should have been a way to help the player clarify their options, especially during the most pivotal part if the story. I chose the beam (center) hoping that I chose the right/paragon path I tried so hard to maintain throughout the series. I did not appreciate the DEAU EX MACHINA technique employed at end. Are you kidding? In the form of the child? Is this person/spirit God?  If not, that just throws Ashley's belief in God out of the window. Nevertheless, I think this is the part of the game that gets everyone riled up and upset. I cannot believe BioWare chose the ending to look like this. Were they purposely going for a far-fetched and unconventional ending? If so, they have definitely achieved it. However, why not give the passionate fans more options? Why can't we have a happy-ever-after where Shepard destroys the Reapers with the Crucible, saves earth, establishes permanent alliances with all of the races, and ends up with his love interest? Why does he have to die or sacrifice himself when he has already sacrificed so much? There is no denouement, no conclusion. Or why not give renegade players an ending at the opposite end of the spectrum? Shepard could control the Reapers with grave consequences. Ashley or Kaidan could die at the final battle. The Illusive Man could have been victorious. The earth could have been lost, forcing the human species to colonize another planet. My point is that after investing years into these three games, we should have been given these types of options. The actual three options we were given were not adequate enough. The characters we care so much for we're not given a proper conclusion. I mean, Shepard used the com to say goodbye to his faithful holographic friends. I feel that this was cheaply done. I was also surprised the characters from all three games did not really have any interaction. As mentioned before, Ashley and Miranda never got to have a cat fight (like Miranda had with Jack in ME2), Samara and Liara never interacted, and we never got to see Grunt and Wrex tear up the place.
So here are my questions: One of the ending options: CONTROL the Reapers: Shepard electrocutes himself. Does he physically change? Does he change into a Husk, almost like the Illusive Man? My Shepard chose to destroy the Reapers (which I believe is the Renegade option based in the cheesy colors used with each choice. The control reapers option will give you white and the Synthetic option gives you green). I don't know why it is considered renegade. The reapers are an abomination. But by doing so, Shepard shoots the tube and gets blown up. Do the mass relays get blown up in all the options? In the DESTROY option, does Shepard physically change as well? My Shepard survived after destroying the Reapers, but there is only a short scene of his N7 armor as he takes a deep breath. So what does that mean if he destroy's the Reapers and then survives? Are the mass relays destroyed? Just because we see all the relays lighting up doesn't mean they are being destroyed. I think they were just activated in order to destroy the Reapers. I am unclear.
Like Dragon Age Origins, there should have been an epilogue that explains what happened with the other well-loved characters (e.g., Garrus and Liara). I know the outcomes depend on the players' choices throughout the series, but I think BioWare could have at least provided a basic or general kind of epilogue for these characters. I had some ray of hope that when the Normandy port door opened, it was going to be Shepard. I know, how could it be if he died/survived on the citadel? But when I saw Joker, then Ashley, I was also hoping Shepard would be following her. Why does my two endings have Joker in it? He was just a supporting character. Why did he survive and not Shepard? I wanted to see Shepard wearing that uniform; not Joker.
RANDOM QUESTION: I have been reading online regarding "saving Anderson" at the ending on the Citadel. How does Shepard save him? I did not see any options to do so. Is there a way to avoid shooting Anderson? Can Anderson be saved?
I am hoping that BioWare takes into consideration a humble fan's thoughts and concerns. I am such a huge fan of the series. The entire gameplay of ME3 was awesome...it was memorable, but the options of how to end the massive series was downright shocking. It has been three days and I still feel so heartbroken and disappointed. I feel upset and sad at the same time. I know, it is just a game, but I feel as if it has deeply affected my personal life. It is difficult to concentrate on my studies! Anyway, I also want to say that I am not going to go off on a tangent and disrespect BioWare and threaten to boycott or not ever buy another BioWare game again. Some people take it too far. I appreciate BioWare listening to fans and our opinions. This is the first time I have ever written a letter to any game developer. I hope BioWare appreciates it and take my words into consideration.

DeadSpyder88's Review of ME3

Overall Score 80/100

Pros
-Strong Characters: Again BioWare does a great job making me feel for the characters. One of the highlights of the game for me was being able to at least see my squadmates from ME2.
-Great Character Lines: Tali Drunk, Jokes about Garrus Calibrating, and all the great scenes with Liara. Another major reason I am drawn to these games.
-The Missions: Absolutely love a majority of the missons. Helping Samara, Jack, and Miranda were my three favorites.
-Diverse Enemies: While I loathe Banshees to no end they are an awesome enemy. I loved seeing so many races indoctrinated.
-Interrupts: Love doing paragon interrupts.
-Much Better Weapon Choice and Diversity: So many weapons and mods for them. The only problem was not having enough credits to upgrade more of them.
-Great Storytelling (Until the Point Where Shepard Charges the Beam): Seriously you guys were like the Texas Rangers in Game 6 of 2011 World Series. You guys had it all going for you and then BAM it all nose dived out of control. Every mission before the ending was good and entertaining.
-Moving/Interacting NPCs: People moved on the Citadel and the Normandy made immersion so much greater.
-Satisfying Continuence with Liara as LI (until the end): Seriously my favorite moments were talking with her on the Normandy.
Length: Took me almost 40 hours to complete that is pretty good bang for my buck.

Cons
-Side Quests: You walk by someone and you get a random sidequest. Very easy to miss and many of them are forgettable.
-Small Squad: a few more options would have been nice.

THE ENDING: Alright I know you guys are getting beat over the head with this but it bares repeating.
BTW All the next bullet points are negatives just so we are clear.
-Gameplay changes completely for the last 15 minutes: Shepard walking half dead with no armor and a magic infinite bullet gun. Yet he is able to kill two Husks and a Marauder.
-Hallway in Citadel: Where the heck am I? Why are there dead bodies everywhere? What was the purpose of humans being transported to the Citadel? Why was there no resistance on the Citadel? Surely they would have some sort of force up there to deal with Shepard.
-I was a complete Paragon but yet I couldn't get TIM to kill himself.
-Crucible just no working and start taking out the Reapers. If it looks like a giant lazer it should work like one. Better ending than what happened in my opinion.

**AI God Star Child***
-What the heck is this thing and why is it now just suddenly coming into play? I probably would have bought it if if Harbinger's voice and reaper body were the AI. Instead we have an unknown AI who for some reason knows to take the form of the kid we have been having night mares about.

-The Star Child is Still Calling the Shots: He gives us three choices to choose from. So effectively Shepard is compromising with the Reapers something he hasn't done the entire series.

-No option to reason with Star Child: Seriously we bring together the whole galaxy (synthetics and organics) and we don't even get to point this out. We don't get to give a heroic speech about the galaxy may drive itself to chaos but it is still a future we make not one chosen for us.

-Not having the option to taking your own action: My solution cantact EDI via Omni-Tool (it works he was able to talk to everyone else so it works) plug her into the Star Child's computer and see if she can fire the crucible to only take out the Reapers (Even with the Mass Relays if need be). Just don't have Shepard in the final act bow to the Reapers choices.

-16 "Different Endings" Do the Same thing: The only thing that changes is color of magic dust the Citadel makes. Seriously Mass Relays and Reapers are desteoyed in pretty much all of them. It is like a car salesmen saying you can have a free car but the only options are a Ford Fiesta in three different Colors.

-Not a very good montage featuring Shepard's Journey: Seriously you have three games of epic moments and we get like a ten second montage.

-Joker Randomly Flying Away in Normandy: How did he know to fly away and why no fly towards Earth?

-Crash Landing On Remote Planet: Not only have you made me tumble the Galaxy into a bleak future but my squadmates are forced to die out in exile. Seriously you couldn't have put them on Earth among the rest of people.

-Your two accompanying squadmates made it back to the Normandy: So Joker raced to Earth picked up the squadmaytes and automatically hightailed it out of there.

-Even in the ending Shepard apparently lives his squadmates are stranded on a planet far away. The game made me feel for the characters and they are ripped apart from Shepard forever?

-Lack of Differing Ending Options:
To me there should have been an ultimate fail ending where the Reapers win and the cycle goes on, but we see thousands of years later different civilizations watching and learning from Liara's doomsday box.

Ultimate Sacrifice: In this ending Shepard and Anderson just watch the reapears blow up while the Citadel blows up around them.

A Happier Ending: An option where Shepard can stop the Reapers and have time to flee back to the beam. However due to his injured state has to leave Anderson behind. Even when he makes it back and is surround by his squadmates the galaxy is in shambles. A bittersweet victory.

-Stargazer: Really the whole series is an galactic version of The Princess Bride? My lord if I didn't know any better I would say you guys were aiming to destroy all the epicness of this series.

To sum my thoughts overall the game would have been a masterpiece to masyterful series but you gloriously collapsed all that in the last 15 minutes. A very big part me hopes that the popular theory of last 15 minutes being a halucination because it would give you all another shot. In fact if it was a hallucination it would be epic. I don't want Shepard's story to end like that (You all can go back on saying Shepard's journey is over).

Give me something where Shepard plays true to himself like he has for the rest of the series. As it stands now I am having a hard time even looking at the ME3 box. Whether it be ME4 or DLC please do something I beg you.

My Mass Effect 3 score (pre-ending): 90/100
My Mass Effect 3 score (post-ending): 50/100

It was thrilling to travel the galaxy, rallying so many disparate groups to the cause.  It was truly inspirational to see my Shepard proving to mortal enemies that there was another way, that peace was possible.  I saw him broker peace between the Geth and their creators.  He was privileged to witness EDI, a synthetic, fall in love with a human being.

And then the end happened.  The Catalyst gave him three choices, but all predicated on the assumption that synthetics are destined to destroy organic life, even though Shepard proved differently.  The finale felt like a horrifying indoctrination attempt that Shepard couldn't break free of.  The ending was just so unsatisfying, it left me completely numb.

My score was 8/10

Likes:
Gameplay mechanics are great, the shooting and powers are the best they've ever been. All the different enemy types really make it more tactical.
Multiplayer is great fun.
Squadmates going around the normandy and interacting was probably my favourite new feature.
The citadel was amazing.
New weapon system was great. Upgrading was wonderful.
New leveling up of powers and the binary choices were also great. Makes the rpg systems much better.

Dislikes
The narrative structure was quite the cacophony. Probably a side effect of having way, way too many story treads to resolve but the story really lacked a decent flow.

No final boss... Oh, so that missle battle was my final mass effect trilogy battle? .........oh...... Wow....... That's a shame.

The endings.... I know it's a touchy subject around here. I want to be constructive rather than rant. But the narrative seems to stop dead in it's tracks. If we kill the geth, we don't see the geth die. We see nothing of what happens to the fleet or earth, no celebration, just some quick explosioding reapers and the normandy crashes. It feels very impersonal, and was rather unsatisfying. What happened to my love interest and crew? How did earth recover? Did curing the genophage mean the krogan population went nuts? How did the quarians repopulate rannoch if they were all at earth? Do my crew know what happened? Why did the game go to credits all of 10 seconds after my final decision without showing the consequence of my decision?

Overall i felt like the game's premise was all about consequences of choice and yet the game delibrately avoids depicting consequence at times and railroads at others.

I really loved the game, but the unsatisfying end left a bit of a sour taste to years of investment in the trilogy. It's a shame really. Perhaps the trilogy narrative structure meant the devs bit off a bit more than they could chew.

Thanks for the trilogy bioware. It's been a wild ride.

4/10 would be the rating I give it. The game itself is good. The multiplayer addition was great and well thought out. The story line was great as well, until we hit the ending. The ending alone ruined the entire story line for me to the fact that I probably lost the will to play the series ever again.

The ending was so filled with plot holes it looked like Swiss cheese. None of our choices mattered and didn't affect the ending. No closure for the final title of the trilogy. Plot holes galore including the following:

- The destruction of the Relays would have destroyed each system with one, just like in Mass Effect 2's Arrival DLC.
- The members of the ground strike team somehow poofed back into the Normandy.
- The Normandy somehow got to the Mass Relay at the edge of the solar system before the Relay was destroyed even though they were fighting near Earth.
- Quite a few others that made no sense.

The ending of a series is what makes the series, especially in an RPG. If the ending is horrible such as the one your writers came up with, no one will want to play again. In this case there really as no point as whatever you do, you still end up in the same spot.

everything is good, or awesome, the endings I know of is terrible. the worst ending should havebeen reapers winning, next after that you and you crew guys and the races with little people dies (krogan quarian..etc), but you win, the galactic society lives on! the cuz this doesn't have to be realistic it's a game, so the happiest ending can be everyone survives. althrough every ending is possible so long the mass relays, survives and we see all the home planets for the races partying or whatever. the ending made me think that the space age had ended THAT ruined it. on ME2 when all dies, the society survives and you fell your sacrifice wasn't in wain.

I just finished the game, so here's my review. I'm not giving a numerical score, but then you didn't really give much of an ending, now did you?

Yesterday, I loved the game. I mean really, really loved it. I finished the Quarian/Geth content, and it was damn perfect. Thane's content put a lump in my throat. I looked at the Tali pic on my bedside table a dozen times, at least.

Then I played through the "end." My wife wasn't at home, the cat was in another room, and I was all alone in front of the game, but when the credits rolled I actually said out loud "What the f*** was that s***?" As I understand it, the red and blue endings are there no matter what, only the drug induced green ending is unlocked through accomplishment. so, wait a sec... you mean I spent the last several years solving every major problem in the Galaxy, got all the spacefaring races to work together in harmony, and I can't prevent the cataclysm? Why did I bother, then?

Across three games, Shepard has been working his virtual behind off to make a difference, to make the galaxy a better place for its inhabitants. The ending seems to suggest that was all a big waste of time, even the green ending which, by the way, made no sense at all. Maybe someone can explain it to me, but at the moment I can honestly say "I don't get it."

Excellent game, bittersweet/inconsistent ending... but decent enough to end the trilogy. Amazing thrill ride all the way through.

Took a point off for the ending though, it didn't make enough sense to me.

Why didn't Shepard demonstrate how Organics and Synthetics could live in harmony?

Why wasn't Shepard able to shoot TIM when he arrived at the end... yet was able to when TIM aimed at him?

If the kid controlled the Reapers, why did Shepard not factor those implications? ie) This kid had TIM try to kill Shepard and Anderson... why would he just go along with whatever the kid said without calling in allies for support/exploring options?  Was he in a sort of dream?  What happened to "there's always another way"?

What happened to your squadmates after the beam?

What happened to Shepard's biotic powers at the end? Why didn't Shepard use medigel?

Why didn't any of his squadmates try to rescue/check on Shepard? (the path seemed clear after the blast and the Reapers left)

Why was the Catalyst that same kid from Earth? The Citadel wasn't there...

How was TIM able to control both Shepard AND Anderson? If it's Indoctrination, why hadn't the Alliance etc. (especially Anderson w/Grayson) tried to develop a countermeasure to it?

The game, because of the end, was a 55/100.  Probably would be more like 80/100 otherwise.  Please, for all subsequent games, take some cues from Witcher 2.

-The graphics are okay, and the actual combat is okay, but can be overlooked largely due to the story.  Could be improved heavily but that isn't the reason to play these games.

-Seeing all the characters again was nice.  Would've liked to been able to see certain characters more than others, especially the LI if she wasn't a squadmate or on-board the Normandy.

-Paragon and Renegade dialog bypasses the need to make what would have been really difficult, really compelling choices.  The game would've been better if the paragon/renegade options were not there at certain times.  The Quarian and Geth conflict, which is incredibly well-written in particular would have been amazing.

-Liked the DLC despite that it should have been included initially.

-The ending ruins the universe and makes all my actions have no payoff.  I don't need a happy ending, please don't think I want one.  I want an ending that makes some amount of sense.  That ending simply isn't in the confines of the world you built.

-The speech the boy makes is contradictory and doesn't align with what Sovereign says in the first game.

I honestly don't know that I can buy another Bioware product again.  I got so burned last time by DA2, which was worse for a number of reasons, but this game's ending is so much worse than anything because of how much it was anticipated, how highly I loved the other two games, etc.  I am actually very upset about the ending.  I don't want to play these games to feel like I wasted money and time, I wanted to have an ending that makes sense.

I mean, kill Shepard, kill everyone Reapers and humans and that would have been fine.  But the Crucible ending just doesn't make sense.  The logic employed by this boy isn't good enough to allow for the creation of the Reapers.  I really wanted the Reapers to be sent from a different galaxy, representing a new threat in a galaxy that is unified but has its own internal struggles, with the Crucible being sent from even a third galaxy at war with the one that sent the Reapers.

I used to love this company, but now...not so much.  I heard the ending was bad, but just not this...it's beyond nonsensical.

Bioware can easily redeem itself with an Ending DLC and many concerned gamers have already offered interesting suggestions.  My ideas are no better than any others but I just want to point out how this is a relatively easy fix that Bioware can accomplish with minimal effort.   This is one possibility among many:
--Make the DLC the true ending but it can only be accessed in a NG+ if for no other reason than to encourage people to want to replay the game.
--After the obnoxious Catalyst A.I. gives you its 3 false devil choices, Shepard spots a console or electronic board or something that he can approach instead.  Once Shepard approaches this 4th option, he pulls out his omni-blade and stabs it to sever the Catalyst's control over the Crucible and allows Shepard to contact the Normandy.
--Shepard tells EDI to take control of the Crucible so that she can better regulate the energy so that only the Reapers are destroyed but not other synthetics like the Geth, or Shepard's cyberborg components, or EDI for that matter.
--Then perhaps give Shepard a timer to get to the Normandy (which has already picked up/rescued all remaining companions from Earth) like Legion's loyalty mission in Mass Effect 2.
--If Shepard fails to get to the Normandy, then only Anderson gets on the Normandy.
--If Shepard makes it, then he and Anderson get on board.
--When the Crucible fires, it destroys the Reapers, itself, and even the Mass Effect Relays. (I know many don't like that because it destroys Galactic Civilization but I understand what the Bioware writers were trying to convey:  That organic societies would have to pay a heavy price to be free of the monstrous Reapers.  Also provides an opportunity for a future game that I will state at the end)
--Instead of crashing on some random planet, the Normandy crash lands outside London.
--Everyone (I mean every companion character not killed in earlier missions to prevent ambiguity) steps outside of the Normandy and gaze at the ruins and transitions to a final scene:  If Shepard lives, a victory speech by Anderson or Hackett.  If Shepard dies, a eulogy by Anderson or Hackett akin to the Spock funeral in Star Trek II.
--If Shepard lives, then allow the player to interact with all of his companions after the victory speech to find out what they plan to do now.  Like what we could do with the Quarian Admirals after Tali's Trial in Mass Effect 2.
--Then have a cinematic cutscene with narration from Shepard or Anderson or Hackett about the long term fate of Earth, Thessia, Rannoch, Surkesh, Tuchanka, and Palaven.
--If it's too expensive to bring back the actors for the DLC fine, then just get the Shepard actors to narrate an epilogue cinematic like Fallout New Vegas or Fallout 2:  If the player lets Shepard die, have a cinematic scene of Shepard's funeral with every companion in attendence without speaking and then cut to credits.  If Shepard lives, have Shepard narrate about the fate of all the companions, Earth, and the major races' homeworlds.  Done and finished!
--Keeping the Mass Effect relays being destroyed means less stuff to change for Bioware plus it gives them an opening for a new Mass Effect story arch.  The civilizations never mastered relay technology but did manage FTL drives so Earth could rebuild a small interstellar civilization in the local star neighborhood.  Since most of the interstellar technology  was Reaper based and destroyed, Bioware could make a new trilogy taking place  a century after Shepard's death in which a new character and crew  explore the galaxy trying to rebuild galactic civilization.  Keeping galactic civilization would mean a future Mass Effect game would have little in terms of conflict or challenge to match the Reapers.  I would rather have that than a Mass Effect prequel because right now I would hate a prequel because I know the fate of the galaxy is pointless.  Bioware can do a prequel after it shows that the galaxy is worth saving after all.

Long winded I know but I want Bioware to know we care about the outcome and WE WANT AN ENDING DLC to correct their FUBAR!!!!

For mass effect 3 review. 10/10 until the last 5 minutes. But a 6/10 for the last 5 minutes.
I didnt exacty hate the ending but if they are going to introduce somthing as big as the catalyst kid, they should have done it before the last 5 minutes. Plus i think that it is about everyone hatting the ending completely but it caught everyone off guard and it was NOT what anyone was expecting. I can say that the ending made sense it was just rush and felt like well since we made everyone love this game so much, lets spit in their face and add somthing else in that will throw them for a loop. The game could have ended with shepard and anderson sitting and watching the reapers blow up as the crucible killed the reapers. I think the biggest dissapointment was the fact that after literally months of my life used on the mass effect series there was no explanation to the ending! You can't just make a series that blows everyones mind such as and just end it, there needs to be an explanation. I was expecting a 30 minute cutscene at the end of the game to explain everything but no. Overall i still really like the series but it went from i would recommend every gamer in the world to play it, to you might like it
