There is a need to beg, In my opinion I normally don't but I have never been affected by a story such as this and the need to fix it is unprecedented. Gaming to me after all the games making Martyrs out of us all has truly taken its toll. I mean no disrespect. I beat the game, with 100% military strength every mission completed etc. Multiplayer was unbearable I couldn't play it. The ending is still the ending. Whether he gets turned into energy, controlling the reapers. Merging synthetic with organic, blowing up the station. They all end with what you describe.

Just finished the game.absolutely loved. The best of the trilogy and my favorite game of this generation so far.

Liara(my LI) and the Normandy lived, the Reapers were destroyed and my Shep died.:(

I think it was a good and fitting end to my Shepard.

Thank You Bioware for this amazing game!"

Mass Effect 3 is the first I game I have played where the characters I am exposed feel so real, so tangible, that any and all actions took for or against them impacted me on an emotional level I am unable to describe. Bioware has expertly used these characters' connections with me to ellicit a genuine emotional response, and no other video game, and even film, has done this to the extent that Mass Effect 3 has. For this reason alone, I can easily say Mass Effect 3 is the best game I have ever played as a gamer, and the reason for it was not because of the gameplay or choice-filled plot, but rather the characters and the relationships I developed with them. Mass Effect 3 made me laugh, made me cry, and made me not only proud to be a Mass Effect fan, but proud to be a gamer.

And I've only talked about the characters...geez.

The gameplay is also improved from Mass Effect 2. The new rolling in and out of cover makes strategic gameplay not only viable but enjoyable. The more intelligent and aggressive enemies forced me to get out of cover and maneuver to win engagements, but at the same time, the game never felt outright frustrating. I played Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2 on Casual, with Mass Effect 3 being the first I pllayed on Normal, and I found it very fun 99% of the time.

The presentation is, for the most part, phenomenal. The art direction in certain places is outstanding (Tuchanka, Palaven's Moon, Thessia, and London), but weaker in other areas (Intro on Earth). The voice acting is great just like previous titles as well. The added gore adds to the immersion, and the atmosphere of all-out-war is nailed by Bioware, from a decimated London, to enormous space battles. On the Xbox 360 version, I only had framerate stutters a few times, and one of them wasn't during the space battle miraculously.

The only true flaw worth noting for the game is the ending. It's not that the ending is tragic, it's that there is no variety in the results and there is zero explanation on what occurs in any case. As the end of a trilogy and Shepard's story, Mass Effect 3 should have provided a sense of closure for Shepard's story, not a sense of confusion and frustration. Everything up to Shepard going through the conduit was phenomenal, especially the blood pumping sprint toward the conduit, but then everything fell apart unexpectedly.

Overall, however, Mass Effect 3 is a fantastic game, and despite its flaws (or flaw, I should say), it is still the best game I have ever played for the emotions it evoked in me. Such a feat isn't rare these days only in gaming, it's rare in entertainment period, and Bioware should be lauded for the accomplishment.

9.9/10. Would have been perfect if ending was as good, since other technicalities are irrelevant comparatively.

My ME score: 75/100

I have a lot to say but I'm not
sure this is the thread for it. I'll stick to the form most people
have used for now.

The Good:

The
things that tickled me and made me want for more.

- Eve-
...When
I first heard there would be a female Krogan making an
appearance I had mixed feelings of hope and anxiety. This
terrible image of some strangely humanoid amazonian female with
outrageous proportions and a ****y overly badass attitude kept
haunting me. What I got was this incredibly well dressed lady
who matched the appearance of her male counterpart and had an amazing
spiritual side that balanced Wrex's gruff personality. One of the
best characters ever. Bravo to the writer/creator.

-EDI-...I love
it when characters change for the right reasons. EDI did.
I didn't see it coming. When she stepped into Medical wearing
the fembot body I made a happy fangirl noise that probably
wasn't human. I've heard her referred to as the misogynistic
replication of some teenage boys wet Heavy Metal dream; and there is
probably a grain of truth in that. But truth is she was a great
character with awesome lines that had be laughing and rethinking
life. Her relationship with Joker was an incredible plus.

-The
ability to modify and upgrade my armor/guns-
...Thank you for
realizing that the Normandy might have more than two types of each
type of gun. Sure it took me forever to get the Black Widow and all
her upgrades but as Miss Vos'Normandy says...'It was totally worth
it'.

-Udina-...I cannot express the
greatness that was pulling that trigger.

-The combat
in general-
...When I'm gaming it up the last thing I want
to do is knock over my Mountain Dew because I'm screeching "Get
off the wall! I want to tumble! Damnit why am I stuck
to everything!" There was a lot of Mountain Dew lost during
ME2. ME3 cleaned it up. Yeah, it wasn't perfect but it was better.
would have like it if the ammo clips had been done away with but at
least ammo seemed to be in greater supply this time around. I could
snipe my little heart out and blast my biotics with few glitches.

-The non-Shep romances-...I'm a girl. I use
that as an excuse for totally loving romance, drama, and all that
emotional craziness. Seeing Anderson get a little flustered talking
about the girl from his past, watching Joker dance with EDI, and
walking in on Tali and Garrus were some of my all time favorite
moments of the game. This fangirl squealed for them all.

-Uniting
the Forces-
...For the most part the stories that I battled
my way through were well done and entertaining. I mean who
didn't smile when Eve took Wrex's shotgun from him? Moreover
I thought the writing and presentation of them was well done.

-Mordin's Death Scene-
...Alright. Damn you.
BioWare, you took away one of my all time favorite characters. You
killed him. But damn did you do it right. The story was incredible
and the death scene itself FELT like something Mordin would have
done.

-Having Garrus/Tali back-...Garrus and Tali
have been our buddies since game one I was worried they wouldn't
be joining my crew. They did. They were awesome. Their stories were
awesome and it was really great to see a bit more about both of their
people.

The Boring:

The things
that were alright but could have been better.

-Scanning
the Sector-
...Okay, thank you for not making scanning as
tedious and insane as it was in ME2. The incorporation of Reapers
during my scans was incredible. However...that many that often? Wow.
It's fascinating that so many Reapers could stop tearing apart the
universe to stop me from picking up some ancient elcore artifacts.

-Running into old Friends-...It was cool to
see the people I tromped around the galaxy with. For that
I thank you. But uhm...It was like "Hey dude what's
up...oh...uh...bye. Guess I'll see you later." And then
hoping I'd run into them somewhere else...

-Thane's
Death-
...Mordin's death was amazing. Thane's death...not so
much. Oh wow...wounded keeping you safe. Bedside death. Meeting up
with his son. Coughing through his goodbye speech? Wow.
OKay...it wasn't terrible but it verging on it.

The
Crap:

The 'WTF' of this fan-critique.

-Emo
Shepard-
...Okay seriously. You took the auto-conversations
and made Shep inot a ****/dick. If I had been playing a
renegade Shep that might have made sense. But you made her yell at
Joker...over the Asari. Seriously? The pilot who has been with
me since the very beginning...and I'm yelling at him for making a
joke that was legitimately funny? No...bad game.

-The
Asari Storyline-
The Asari had all the knowledge of the
Protheans. The hid it from the galaxy and used it as a stepping stone
to be the most advanced race in the galaxy. They lied, cheated, and
stole their way into that particular position...and I feel bad
about them loosing their homeworld? No-siree bob. I don't.
I got to kill the human ambassador. I got to punch a
Quarian in the gut. I yelled at the salarians....and I cried
over these lying blue skinned chicks and started yelling at my
friends over it?

-My Choices-...you
stole them. I took time to decide if I was going to save
the Rachni Queen. I decided I wanted Anderson as the Human
Councilor. I wont list them all...it's besides the point. What IS the
point? None of them meant a thing. It came down to choosing
blue...green...or red....like they were cans of Mountain Dew. What
was the point of ever having them if they weren't going to mean
anything at the end?

-The Endings-...Yeah.
I'm one of those. I wasn't pleased. There I was; sitting in
my papasan chair, a few days worth of soda cans piled up around me,
and ignoring the twitch that had developed in my spine from the hours
of being in the same position. 770 days of waiting for the final
chapter of Shep's story. It all came down to...that creepy
kid? Really? WTF.

Score: 9.5/10 (could of been a perfect one if not for the ending).

Pro:
-I really enjoyed the party banter.
-The multiplayer was good.
-Some missions/character's really pulled on my heartstrings and even made me shed man tears more than just once: Thane's deathbed scene,Legion's sacrifice,Rannoch romance scene with Tali are just a few.
-Fantastic work at tieing up all the loose ends from all the previous games, especially the character ones.
-The gameplay was really amped up compared to Mass Effect 2 + the flexibility of the character with dodge rolls was really adding to my immersion.
-I really enjoyed the customizations that you could do for both gear and weapons.
-The story itself and dialogues with the characters kept me engaged throughout the journey.
-All the little moments you had with every squadmate(Garrus's Presidium shooting,EDI's questions, the final dialogue with Tali before heading to the Conduit)really made me happy to see and think that everything will be fine in the end and we will win this "just like old times".

Now the CON's.This might be a read as a rant, but I'm trying to keep my composure so bear with me:

-The most important thing that almost ruined it for me if it weren't for the "journey" was the ending. The similarities with Deus Ex 1 really made me think if this is actually a joke/hallucination of Shepard or not.
-A game that prided itself of actually letting you choose your own paths(wether it would be Paragon/Renegade)to be ended with such a shoehorned ending makes me feel very disappointed for not taking the time to properly end this fantastic epic trilogy that I've been anticipating since the end of Mass Effect 2.How can you make 95% of the game fantastic just to ruin it and rushing it at the end where it matters the most?
-The autodialogue was really annoying at times, making me feel like a third wheel between conversations. There were very few where you actually were involved.(Tali/Garrus one before the final mission was a decent one).
-The cover/storm/use button all in one made it very difficult to maneuver in multiplayer.Getting into cover when I'm trying to revive a team mate has killed me more than I could count.
-The cutscene with the most important people in Shepard's life really annoyed me when I saw Liara and not my LI which was Tali.
-Not being able to have a conversation with the Star Child and counter argument his dialogue really surprised me not in a pleasant way, especially that I couldn't convince him that Synthetics and Organics can coexist together(Quarian/Geth peace and EDI's relationship with Jeff).

My playthrough was a Male Shepard Soldier going full Paragon and romancing Tali with over 7000 EMS and 100% Galactic Readiness.I helped cure the Genophage, made peace between Quarian/Geth,I saved the Rachni Queen and choose the Destroy ending. After all my efforts to make everything work and get a proper ending I was left saddened and filled with regret that my choices meant nothing in the end.

I really wanted to choose my own ending with Shepard reuniting with his LI and Normandy crew no matter what the cost.Is that too much to ask? After what Shepard's been through he really deserved more than remaining alone in the dark and rubble of the Citadel.

PS: I'm sorry for the last part but I couldn't bear that burden on my chest.Hope you understand that Chris.

Edit: PSS: I would gladly pay the price of a better/happy end DLC.

I want to start off by saying that despite my…issues with a few aspects of the game, I want to thank all of the men and women who put some much time and effort into this project. This is especially true since I am a PS3 owner and not a 360 owner. Your extra work and effort has allowed a good number of people the chance to be part of something very rare and very special. Its been a long time since anyone has created an entire fictional universe of this scope and detail.

The story is beautiful, the dialog without equal and over all the game series is one I will remember for a very long time. I have many fond memories from this series and will always have a certain degree of nostalgia when I remember it.

That being said, I cant help but feel this game was…rushed. The opening hit me over the head like a hammer as one of my friends put it better than I ever could ‘the reapers looked like a giant kids toy coming out of the sky’. The actual level was pretty good, other than Shepard and Anderson’s *very* awkward running. Really though, this was suppose to be the hook for the entire game, it should have had the same power as the opening to ME2 with the Collector ship destroying the Normandy, instead the graphics were less than even normal gameplay.

Now I will say you captured the sheer horror and pain of war on a scale no other game has. The kid dying at the beginning, and the wall of photos on the Citidel are two images that will stick with me for life.

The loss of heavy weapons from normal game play, I understand the theory and idea with the weight system for power cool down, but really this was one of the big advancements ME2 had over ME1 and you should have kept it as is. Making the game ‘harder’ by removing heavy grade weapons is more ‘artificial’ difficulty than true difficulty.

Not sure if it was only me, but the cover system was more difficult for me this time than previously. I died many times trying to run or roll only to ‘take cover’ with an enemy right behind me.

The face bug, and the other little glitches are mostly minor things, nothing game breaking but still very annoying to deal with at the very beginning. Its not a good sign when a game *starts* with a bug like that.

Now my single biggest issue, yes it is the endings, but not in the way most people are complaining. The Mass Effect series has always been about choice, and about rewarding players who put extra work into the game. This is a familiar system to gamers, hard work = rewards. If you work extra hard for something, it should be worth the effort, or at least something. Here however, after putting a LOT of work and effort into things, going *very* far out of your way to keep people alive or prevent some random bad guy from getting away to kill again, we are ‘rewarded’ with pretty much everyone dying or otherwise being screwed in the end. Deus Ex, the game whose endings this one pretty much copied to the T at least gave the player hope and a feeling of ‘at least things will be better now’ in some way. That wasn’t the case here.

Its true that there are no happy endings in war, no ‘happily ever after’, the prince doesn’t ride off into the sunset with the princess, that kind of thing only happens in stories…which is exactly what this is suppose to be, fantasy, not reality. Games are getting to the point where they are just as, or more depressing that real life is. How about going back just a bit and remembering why a lot of people play video games, and what drew them in the first place.

You worked so hard and did so much, I cant help but feel this isn’t fair, to the gamers or the series. I enjoyed it, but see how it could have been so much more if you had put just a little more into it. The multiplayer hower I admit will keep me around for a very long time lol.

Mass Effect 3: 7.5/10
Mass Effect series: 9/10

95/100

This has been one of my favorite game series ever and ME3 might be one of the best games ever. I realized during my playthrough that this was because I felt so connected emotionally to the story in a way that very few games (or even movies or books) can. The gameplay was also great and well paced.

Some of my favorite bits were during the quarian missions. The gameplay was more varied in that part and the reaper boss fight was amazing. In that part the story hit all the right notes as well.

I hate to jump on a bandwagon but my only real complaint was the ending. It just felt so out of place. All this so Joker can live happily ever after with his robot girlfriend? I would pay for a DLC with another ending. I was excited to play through on other Shepards, but now knowing how it ends a lot of the wind has gone out of my sails.

Like many here, my review is going to reflect a certain disatisfaction. I want to make it clear that up until the last 10-15 minutes, this game was a 10/10 for me. I laughed, I cried, I swore vengeance and I had fun. There is only one way for me to express my hatred of the endings, however, and that is the fact that it made me seriously consider giving up video games.

No, I wasn't considering giving up ME3 or boycotting DLC, I was seriously considering giving up an entire MEDIUM of entertainment that I've throughly enjoyed for 20 years. See, I got over the Matrix trilogy. The third movie simply killed the whole series for me but in all I only wasted a twenty dollar note and 6 hours on the sequels. I've played ME1 and 2 countless times on multiple platforms (they don't appear under my profile there because I can't be bothered digging out the registration keys), I love those games. Heck, I love ME3 except for the ending, which is just that bad.

I wasn't expecting a happy ending. I didn't think I'd actually see one of my Shepherds holding a little blue hand or building a house on Rannoch. It would have been nice but I didn't expect it. I was fully ready for Shep to sacrifice him/herself for the greater good. What I didn't expect was for a Bioware game to leave plot holes big enough to fly star systems through and give us universally bad choices.

I can forget the plot holes or hand wave them away for a moment. I can imagine that the Reapers and their creators were/are simply insane, for example. But here's the choice you're laying out for us: Kill EDI (thus betraying a friend who's saved your life) and the Geth (who are living proof that organics and synthetics might co-exist); Sacrifice Shep, turn everyone in the galaxy into cyborgs (with space magic) and destroy the Citadel, possibly killing millions, don't solve the Reaper problem conclusively; Control the Reapers, delaying the problem again (possibly becoming part of the problem), destroying the Citadel, possibly killing millions and Joker doesn't get a hug from EDI and Shep likely dies.

It's a non-choice. Now, I can imagine someone making a non-choice choice in real life under a great deal of pressure, this is true. Thankfully, ME3 is a video game so I have the ultimate choice: turn the game off and never play it again.

The endings are all flat out depressing for reasons that have been listed ad infinitum all over these boards. I was crushed for two days after getting to the end which is as nonsensical in every iteration as it is bad. I don't need more depression in my life, I have enough as it is, thank you Bioware. It's not just disappointment after years of anticipation for this ending, it's a betrayal of everything the series has previously stood for in my eyes: hope. It reminds me of the movie 'My Girl', which had the same sort of effect on many viewers. Look at the poster, it looks like a feel-good movie about young romance... then you're inthe theatre the girl dies from a bee sting half way through.

I don't buy depressing movies or books, particularly not now. I hear that a twitter feed somewhere said that the writers at Bioware were having a bad day, let me fill you in on some of my bad days in the last 9 months. I was in a car that was hit by a buss (fortunately we're all ok). After having his legs amputated, my uncle gave up life and died. I was forced to quit my job. My father came close to going into a diabetic coma 3 times due to someone else's negligence, which means I almost lost my father 3 times. Those are bad days and the promise of ME3's release was one of the things that got me through. I know those at Bioware understand this since how people cope is a major part of ME3.

Something needs to be done about these endings. Some sort of epilogue at least to give proper closure, or better more choices given to players. Other than the ending, I'll reiterate, ME3 would be 10/10 for me. Mordin and Thane's sacrifice was just and one of the most emotional pieces of storytelling I've ever witnessed. Curing the genophage and forging Quarian/Geth peace was a highlight. Grunt being a total badass made me cheer. EDI and Joker made me laugh and gave me hope.

But I still can't fathom why you'd destroy all of that in the final scenes. The creative choice to give us those endings are just baffling. I can't even see how the IP can continue from there because the endings are pretty exclusive, either there's a bunch of destroyed Reapers floating around, everyone's partly synthetic/organic or the Citadel still exists, all of which would be pretty important to future stories in the IP.

Hate to be a tag-on, but I'm also one of those who would pay for a better ending.

Also would have been nice to be able to carry over the massive stockpile of weapons and armor I had at the end of ME2...

I feel bad about the how some of the small negatives out-way the positives of this game. 95% I loved. 5% I didn't.

First of all: Kudos to making this game a trilogy. That risk paid off!

Ever since meeting Sovereign (red hologram) in ME1 I was HOOKED!! This mysteriously massive vile insect mother ship was the real threat in ME1. The banter Shepard has with him won me over. This creature who says that it's logic cannot be comprehended or fathomed by us mere mortals perked my interest... that each ship was in itself a nation. Interesting.

Then we speak to Vigil... awesome! Can't wait to see how this series plays out!

ME2 comes along. Game mechanics feel better. Music is superb! Lawson, Jacob, Elusive man with the eyes... curious. Is he evil or is he for good? Forced missions ocurr after every other side quest to initiate deep, well fleshed out characters. We meet some older characters! Awesome! Choices in ME1 somewhat ignored... Rachni? Colonists? Vehicle and elevators gone... some improvement. Mineral mining... meh. Over-all. Better experience. Reaper threat looming there for RPG concept somewhat lacking. Makes sense though. Story is more important.

Colonists abducted by mysterious Collectors. turns out their using Human... material to give life to this Terminator Robot, all-be-it small Reaper. Why? Harbinger voice, arrogant, vicious. He must be the ultimate Reaper right? Each Reaper has a name. Harbinger seems to take Shepards attitude personally. Collector base defeated. Try and save as many characters as I can. Save them all. By-the-way LOVED the side quests helping out new characters and liked the stylish camera angles and dialogue. Detective work amid futuristic locations... excellent.

DLC for ME2: awesome!

ME3 finally arrives!! Initial perception is that it is war time. Exploration/RPG reduced to minimun priority. Expect a lot of action and curious about how every character will fit into the story arc.

Positives:

1) More locations!
2) Better improved combat movement via melee and running and hugging around walls.
3) Revisit to Persidium and other locations.
4) Loved how Normandy felt more like original
5) Nice to be Alliance again
6) Story twists and emotional character scenes. Well rewarding to save Wrex and Garrus and Mordin.
7) Loved the Reaper battles. Turned up my sound for them. Loved Shepard's banter to Wrex during first Reaper battle
8) Even more enjoyable were banters between my crew as I eves drop. Vega and Garrus trying to one-up eachother. Garrus and Joker trying to be funnier etc. Priceless!! Finding my small pet mouse scurrying at the bottom of the ship! <squeak!>
9) Loading between maps was certainly faster and to-the-point.
10) Finding my crew at several locations in the Citadel rather than one spot the whole game.
11) EDI's new body and the relationship piece with Joker.
12) Sound FX was top notch!
13) Loved the atmosphere of desperation and war looming, especially at the Persidium.

Negatives:

1) Opening wasn't as big as I expected it to be. No music.
2) Side quests (i.e. running around the Persidium) to get more recruits seemed like a chore.
3) After completing a mission I'd have to run allll the way back to the galaxy map. Scanning room a nuisance with the 2 females that act as if they've never been in the military.
4) Only one bar. One location to explore which is the Citadel. No more Omega. Never understood why Reapers didn't over-take the Citadel first.
5) Sorry to say I didn't like how there was lacking music. The older soundtracks re-used in this game put together with no music for several missions felt as if Jack Wall's absence more prominant. The newer music was nice and certainly didn't draw attention to itself as not being memorable but I expected at least a few memorable soundtracks near the end like in ME1.
6) Love triangle or drama was lacknig as well. As soon as I picked someone near the end the other two backed off as if nothing ever happened between us.
7) Combat mechanics of rolling was annoying as Shepard often rolled to a wall and was stuck there when I needed to flee desperately. I think elimnating the ability to roll/hug wall to wall would have helped as I wanted to choose when to hug the wall on my own. Many deaths because of this.
8) Combat, my partners in crime would often not perform a command when asked and medigel would often not work until several tries. Resulting in death. Especially in the finale battle.

9) As many have already mentioned the ending lacked in spirit and logic. The Dream sequences I didn't mind. Just like in the movie Gladiator as Maximus feels the wheat on his finger tips I felt this dream fortold me of Shepard's iminant mortality. I wanted my Shepard to sacrifice himself in the end and was expecting it. Some ending issues I had:

- ground battle was a bit out-of-place for me. Felt Like I was playing Half-life 2. Loved the depsaration though. People would be pleading for immediate assistance and I'd be tied down by enemies that would spawn over and over... started to get a bit annoying.
- No confrontation with Harbinger. Not even a banter of words. HUGE dissapointment. He was very personal with me via ME2.
- Mystical puppet master. This part makes me not want to play ME anymore. Felt like a LOST moment as writers didn't know what to do next with the hype they created so think up a new concept or character and suddenly introduce it to explain away key points but ignore smaller unanswered questions. Sovereign's dialogue ME1 is nullified. Harbinger's personal vendetta is nullified and ignored.
- No knowledge of what my friends were doing during the final battle: Wrex's influence. Kasumi's influence. Jack's influence. Normandy's influence. Not even a small cut scene.  ME1 did this and was very welcomed.
- No closure at all in the end. How did my choices effect Earth? My friends? Did Wrex live up to his promise? Was there a ceremony for Shepard? What became of everyone?
- What the ____ was Normandy doing zipping through the Mass Relay system during the end of the battle? And how did my friends, whom were  on earth with me minutes ago, end up on the Normandy?
-Where will the Krogan spread once they start mating? They certainly can't go home anymore now that the Mass Relays have been destroyed?
- The Ellusive Man suicide is a gimmick that is over-used. (Based on my play-through) I thought he would either be the Savior or the Ultimate villain... nope... he's just another pawn.
- The puppet master's sudden change of heart to allow Shepard to decide everyone's fate is... what??? We have no idea who he is or what he is or what he/it is capable of. No relationship is built so we don't have any investment in this character which leaves me to believe that this character was totally unecessary and pointless.

The Reapers are nothing more than puppets (like obedient pets) for an arrogant god child. The Ellusive Man was nothing more than a puppet. Shepard's choices dwindle to similar out-comes.

I would have waited another year if it meant to polish the ending... which, sorry to say, needs a complete over-haul.

My Mass Effect 3 score: 99/100

I believe Mass Effect 3 was the best game in the series. The best part was the emotional richness of the game. You really go through every possible emotion, from a-child-with-a-candy happy to i-cannot-take-it-any-more sad. And thank you for that BioWare, none of the games I’ve played has ever made me experience all that. Writing was amazing, and the execution nearly perfect.

Many people disliked the endings, but I think they were right on. Primarily, the lack of some sort of epilog seems to upset people very much. You play as a Shepard, and so the story unfolds around him, so including epilog would mean a major departure from the experiencing the story, which what Mass Effect games have always been, and moving to ‘here is what happened, now swallow it!’, and this would have been unacceptable to me. And for those who still cannot come to peace, just consider what the man in after-credits in response to the kid asking what he will find when he goes to the stars. The man said “Anything you can imagine”. And I do imagine that new mass relays, or some alternative, are build and systems are reconnected, and quarians rebuild their world, and that my squad mates all survive on some planet, and that my Shepard, after gasping for air on cold concrete, lives and finds his friends and reunites with Ashley, his love. I do worry about krogan; Those guy are wild and they might rebel. Should not have cured the genophage.

Again, I cannot stress enough how emotional the game is. You do start to care for geth, and when you see how their ‘rebellion’ really started, you care even more. I even had tears rolling down my chicks when Tali said ‘the answer to your question is yes’ to Legion when he was about to sacrifice himself, and I was like ‘whatever’ when my grandfather died last year.  You do pity krogans for they have endured. You do feel bad for leaving Earth behind. You do feel like you failed and it was your fault when Thessia fell. You do admire Mordin’s actions. And all these emotions are amplified tenfold by the beautiful music.

The another thing is the connection you build with you teammates. I feel like I knew them for all my life and I really care about them and want them to be to live happily ever after. That said, I can understand why people want to know what happened to them afterward. This is because we grow emotionally attached to them. And not only them, but the galaxy as a whole. And again, as the old man said in aftercredits, there might be one more story about Shepard. All that is required is for us to be patient and hopeful, and I am sure BioWare will tell it, in one way or another.

Also, another reason for why people did not like the ending, in my opinion, is that they perceived them to be somewhat negative. THEY ARE NOT! Reapers are gone. The life continues. It cannot get more positive than this. Even if Shepard dies, he is the HERO, in the eyes of everyone, and I cannot stress the word hero enough. And the ultimate end for any hero is self-sacrifice.

 My score is 80/100.

It certainly didnt have to be, and that is the frustrating part.  This was a nearly perfect conclusion to an awesome trilogy of entertainment until Shepard stepped into that beam to the Citadel.  Then it all came apart.  Bioware pushed choice and the fact that this was "our story" and the ending showed that it was quite the opposite.  No resolution at all.  I expected better of Bioware, I really did.  All we needed were text cards like Dragon Age: Origins, telling us what happened to all our surviving squadmates and the various races of beings.  Some sort of denouement.  But all we got was a title card telling us Shepard was a legend, and oh by the way, please buy more DLC.  Yeah ok.  Is it already on the disc too?

After a couple hundred hours in this universe, I don't think it is too much to ask for an ending where Shepard is with his squad and LI.  If you don't want that to be canon, fine, but that didnt stop you from putting non-canon endings into the other games, so why change now?  If you wanted to reset the Mass Effect universe for a different type of game, that's fine too, just don't force the players into an ending that reflects that.  Bioware stated repeatedly that this was the end of Shepard's story and no more games would feature him, so why not let us end it how we would like to?  I don't expect anything from you guys....I really don't.  It's your game and your characters and I'm sure you will remind us unhappy fans of that fact in the coming weeks.

The ending killed the entire series for me. All that investment and attachment wiped away in one fell swoop.

Graphics 7/10

+ Some of the locations such as Tuchanga was truly breathtaking.

+ Most of the key characters look much better than their ME1/ME2 counterparts.

- Minor character's faces are the same as ME2's, and shows their age thru rough textures/lack of detail during conversations.

- Weird glitch where Shepard's head would twist around 180 degrees during conversations.  Very immersion breaking and unintentionally funny.

- Other minor but annoying texture glitches.

Gameplay 9/10

+ Smoother action during battles compared to ME2, especially like the ability to dodge and roll.

+ More open level design compared to ME2; more opportunities for flanking. No more of the "Hey look! a bunch of conveniently located crates for cover. There's about to be a fight here." from ME2.  More opportunities to catch enemies off-guard if you keep your eyes open as you move forward.

+ Inventory system combined the best of both worlds from ME1 and ME2. Lots of weapons and weapon mods, no time wasted selling junk to stores.  Wish the same system could have been applied to armor upgrades for squad.

+ The weight system added another dimension to choosing your loadout. do you sacrifice firepower for more biotics/tech?  Could have added an option to sacrifice some weight capacity to carry spare ammo. Shotguns' and certain assault rifles are not very useful because they ran out of ammo too quickly.

- Mapping Sprint/Cover/Use into one button created major headaches in certain situations.

- Multiplayer mode lacks variety, requires more game modes, larger team sizes, and bigger maps.

Characters 9/10

+ Every former squad mate from the previous two games makes an appearance, even if only in cameo form.

+ Most characters have good sub-arcs in the story. Mordin and Thane especially stand out.

- Some of the appearances of former squad mates feel contrived and out of place. What are the odds that every side mission features the appearance of one familiar face?

- Could have allowed 1 or 2 of ME2's squad mates to join Shepard on his quest, even if only for that one mission.

- New squad mates seem bland and uninteresting.

Story 9/10 before the ending, 5/10 after the ending.

+ Numerous touching moments such as the death of Mordin, skeet shooting with Garrus, ect.

+ Excellent pacing during the first 80% of the game. There always was main mission and several side missions available.

- Last Cerberus base was too predictable. Felt too deja vu with Cerberus' experiments in making human husks. We already seen it before in ME1.

- Ending felt extremely weak and tacked on at the last minute. All of the player's choices were ignored or sidelined: curing the Genophage or not, regaining the Quarian homeworld or siding with the Geth. NONE of it mattered in the end. The player was presented with the same three generic choices as everyone else. On top of that, all three ending movies looked exactly the same except for different color lights. This effectively destroys the replayability of the game: WHY bother starting a new game if you are just gonna get the same choice of endings regardless of what you do in the game?

- Major plotholes in the ending: The squad mates you had on the final mission mysteriously teleports onto the Normandy, with Joker running away from the battle above Earth for reasons unkown. Not even one line to text to explain what the heck just happened.

- Complete lack of closure. What happened to all our favorate characters? What will happen to the different races that are now trapped in orbit around Earth? How will they get home without the Mass Relay? What will they do for food? At the minimal, text blurbs in the style of Dragon Age: Origins is required explaining what happened to everyone.

Overall 7.5/10 Had the potential to be one of the best games of all time, but squandered due to the worse than mediocre ending.

60/100 - "What can change the nature of a series?" - The game was good but ... The illogical and nonsensical endings in which everything you did in 1500 hrs of play for the first two games is thrown to garbage. I'm sorry, but you managed to ruin my whole ME experience with this (oops, sorry, forgot about Deception - another flop).
I'm going to replay Planescape Torment; even if my character goes to the blood war hell in the end it's a lot better than this.

(Start with) My Mass Effect 3 score: X/100 (where X = your score. 95, 67, 42, 6, etc)
(And then why you gave it that score) I really liked/disliked ME3 and here is why.....

My score for Mass Effect 3 is 99/100

The ending to the game made me sick, bitter and angry but at the end of the day however it was still the best game I had ever played up until the last 10 minutes. Does it deserve a perfect score for a crushing end? No, but an amazing experience until that point.

Some of my favorite things about the game was the story for sure. I love how well the romance between my Shepard and Ashley was done.

Mutliplayer was ok, I would of traded it for another single player quest but that is just me.

Would of loved to have even more interaction with old squadmates. Miranda (who seemed so loyal at the end of 2) was not around. Jacob was another favorite and even if not as a squadmate in 3, it would of been nice if they were atleast on the ship. Felt like a huge void when you play 3 and all your loyal people from 2 are gone.

The only bad thing about this game and a huge flaw was the ending. Terrible ending. Shameful but it is your game and not mine.

I hope for a Mass Effect 4. Do not leave the universe and please do not sell out to multiplayer. No one does the single player experience like the people behind these games. Series are never suppose to die as long as they are good.

I would give Mass Effect 3 a score of 67/100.

Here's what I liked...

  • I thought the music was fantastic. Not only in how it sounded, but also what pieces were inserted where. It was all very effective. Before I played, I was concerned about the absence of Jack Wall, but, as I said, the score turned out to be one of the best parts of the game.
  • I don't know where I stand in terms of the public opinion, but I found the "Stargazer Epilogue" (with the grandpa and kid. I'm not sure if that's what it's actually called) moving. Again the music played in this scene contributed to its impact. It was sad, in a good, nostalgiac way.
  • There were some deaths in the game that seemed alright. Mordin's in particular. Sad and justified.
  • Combat continued to be good.
  • There was a varied approach to each mission.
  • I appreciated the addition of a "Narrative" difficulty and while I don't intend to ever use it, I'm sure there are some out there that appreciate the option to not have full choice.

Here's what I disliked...

  • I'm not a fan of the "auto-conversation." I understand it's intent, but it made me feel like I didn't have to care what was be talked about as I had no input in many many spots.
  • I'm also uncertain of the general consensus of this, but I found Kai Leng to be a complete tone disruptor. He seemed far to anime-y/JRPG-ish. His... attire seemed ridiculous (primarily the face mask). I also wasn't able to buy into the idea that someone would use a sword in this universe. I understand he appeared in other Mass Effect media, but he just threw off the entire tone whenever he showed up.
  • Of course, there's the endings which I don't know how much more needs to be said.
  • My primary issue witht the game was the departure from Karpyshyn's idea of where the story was going. This was partially an issue back in Mass Effect 2 when the story never advanced (we were at the same point at the end of 2 as we were at the end of 1), but that had compelling characters and missions (and Karpyshyn was still present for part of the development, I hear). I expected us to have learned something of great importance that would pay off in ME3 (or at least that's how I came to terms with the story taking a detour for an entire game). But that never came about. Diverging from Karpyshyn's original idea is like... having someone else write the last book in the Harry Potter series. Things were set up how they were for a reason. Now the series title doesn't even have any relevance (as apparently it would have in Karpyshyn's ending). I understand if you couldn't keep him on board for all 3 games, but at least keep the original lead author's intent throughout all 3.
  • There were some minor technical issues, like lip synching, and some other stuff, but like I said, it was minor, not major.
  • Some of the love interest and other character arcs were lacking (many actually). We spent much of ME2 recruiting some of the most interesting characters in video game history (that may be an exaggeration, but characters were a major high point for me in ME2).  Many were reduced to cameos or emails which was massively disappointing. I suspect this was due to overambition and rushed schedule. I could be wrong. Whatever the cause, the relationships formed in past games all seemed to fizzle out.

I could probably add more to both my likes and dislikes, but this is already quite long. I apologize for that. But Mass Effect 3 was a great disappointment when I expected a return to form and a return to the pinnacle of science-fiction (which I once considered Mass Effect to be).

Everything was amazing in this game up until the last three minutes. I can't believe Bioware did this. Everything was so good and I mean everything than came the ending. I'm not saying everything was ruined for me (because it wasn't). But dammit Bioware why did you choose that ending it was so.... ugh.

I would rate the game with the current endings a 1/100, If the fix the endings I would give the game a 95/100 my full review is in my blog.

if you want your voice heard louder got to my blog which I have a link too in my Sig , click on my ME3 review and click on the links to my polls.

1. would you Boycott Bioware if they don't fix the endings
2. do you believe Multiplayer should have no impact on the single player campaign
3. Facebook Campaign demand better endings for ME3

Why so low?

1. Terrible ending(s) - badly written and totally out of sync with the overall ME series. Worse than the DA2 forced ending.
2. Have to go multiplayer to get over 50% readiness? Don't understand the heavy hand here unless it is just greed.
3. Too much of the dialog and personal relations are scripted with no choice.

This is really disappointing considering the high standard of plot and writing that was the basis for the series.

Okay... everything about this game I loved... aside from the last half hour. I mean I was walking on cloud nine when I was playing through it. I was happier at work. I was more excited for everything. The mechanics, the flow, everything was perfect for me. It finally felt like the end was near... and that I was going to make it. But let me do this right. Here comes the rundown.

The Gameplay-

It is so much more fluid compared to Mass Effect 2, and it's miles ahead of Mass Effect. The moving quickly gave it a feel of urgency that removed the slow and safe feel that the previous two titles had. The cutscene prompts were well placed, not too frequent that they got old, and just right so you felt in control when you wanted it.

I feel that each class felt more unique and fitting of what it was. That being said if there is a future Mass Effect title maybe you should focus one or two classes, that way giving us more of a feel for each of them. I mean with other biotics floating gently to the ground or throwing people around, I felt totally left out when I wasn't able to do similar cool things. Same for my soldier. He's a combat expert, he should have been in everyone's face with lethality come cut scenes. Just more of a feel for who we are would be great. If I'm a powerful biotic, let me know it. If I'm a quick and percise Infiltrator then show that in the game. I'm supposed to be the best and I keep getting bested. And that just doesn't track.

All in all things were streamlined that needed a little fat taken off, and the things that needed expansion were attended too.

Just more tactics, more abilities, and more bad-assery.

Gameplay- 8 out of 10

Graphics and Artistry-

This is a vast improvement already. The cinematography and art style were great. The galaxy finally felt grand and beautiful. Characters got a good face lift, the world itself was great, and space was pretty.

Graphics and Artistry- 10 out of 10

Story-

And we've come to the real meat of the issue. And the bread and butter. And the bag of chips.

For the first everything of the game things were great. I take issue with the last thirty minutes.

Companion characters felt like they were people, and not just drones that follow Shepard every moment. They evolved to be people on their own, leaders, soldiers and fighters. We just needed more. They are what tie us to the world, and some were downright overlooked and skipped. Sure we saw a cameo or two, maybe even a mission with them. But this was literally the end game. They should have had a bigger role. We've done so much with them and they felt tossed aside, or scooted to the corner. More involvement in their stories, impact reaching over to our story, and all of it coming to a culmination, that's what was needed. I needed to know just how the people I worked so hard to keep alive helped my final moments.

I know I'm "The Shepard" but dammit nothing I did was alone. And I know that! I want to see these people be respected as the vital component they were to my war effort. Let's see how Shepard does by going through the Omega Relay by himself. He don't get far. These people should be legends right beside him and no less. Hell Garrus, Joker and Tali should get credit from everyone for having Shepard's back for so long. As it is the spot light is just on me, and it doesn't feel right.

We need to have more to do with them for this to feel full. Just have them say goodbye at the end was a damn copout and I think I'm not alone with feeling that. We should have been treated to seeing just how everyone we've aided came into play and helped us out. Cut-scenes! Show us how great they are!

Now for Shepard's story... I loved it so much. It was great to see the stresses of the world coming down on him finally. It felt more real. Like Shepard isn't some demi-god going about. More like he's the man it's all come down on. He didn't ask for it. But better him than anyone else. Oh I still felt plenty special, but beccause he felt so vulnerable he felt all the more impressive for what he does. There was just this human aspect to him that really cemented it and brought it home for me.

BUT! And I capped that so you would know I'm angry. 'Cause you know... online that matters. Anyway... the ending to it was utterly enraging. I've been playing this series for years, put countless hours of my life into it because I love it so much. And the to have it all come to an end like that? It was the biggest slap in the face that I can think of from a game in recent years. I mean to have this character  be with us through so much and then what?! You take away our chance, nullify all of our hard work, undo what we believed would ensure our "happy ever after", and void out everything we've built up.

The three endings are pitiful. Sure maybe everyone doesn't want the picture perfect ending, then they can choose something else. What possessed you to take away that ending for the rest of us.

*Spoilers*
Okay so Shepard takes control of the Reapers and martyrs himself. Fine, but we still don't get any closure.

Then he might merge all life to create some kind of organic/techno thing... but where in the hell did he get the right to just take genetic control of every being in the galaxy? Do you know how monstrous that ending is? And why is Shepard dead? Why doesn't he just create a unique platform for him to inhabit once the deed is done?

Or how about you give the Geth free will at the cost of a friend, let EDI know what it's like to be alive, and then kill them because this ageless timeless super-God-Meta-computer program doesn't know how to pick and choose targets? But it can instantly rewrite genetic code and alter it so each unique species will adapt and thrive. But it can't tell the difference between EDI and the Geth and the Reapers? Now I'm not a professional writer yet, but even I know that is such a stupidly blatant plot hole that it's insulting to even think your fans would go for it.
*End Spoilers*

After all of that the only thing we see of our beloved crew and friends is that they are on a island paradise world and... that's it. We don't know what comes of our choices.

And side note; I loathe the people at the end. The child and the old man. Like I give a flying eff what some jerk-wads in the future think, tell me what happened to my friends!

All in all the only saving grace for the game, the franchise that millions of people love, would be DLC that lets you get that fairytale ending. Or you come out with Shepard's true final chapter, and turn it from trilogy to saga. As it stands nothing we done matters and that defiles everything this game series was supposed to be about.

Story- First ninety-nine percent 10 out of 10/ Last one percent 0 out of 10.

Still I love this game so much, and with everything I have for video games, I want this to be fixed. The end needs to be ret-conned. I want that as much as I want the next Dragon Age title to be as good as Origins. As much as I want a pure word for word re-make of Jade Empire. As much as I want to see my Shepard with Tali on Rannoch, her out of her suit and them growing old with their friends around and galactic peace.

Please Bioware... don't leave me with this. Help us make this right. The ending of ME3 is Saren and you are my Shepard... only you and your team can make this happen and make the galaxy right again. ^_^

I really don't get it. Why do people demand any closure? You didn’t for the first two games, and they too ended on pretty much ‘now what?’ note. The endings are perfect. Just spend some time thinking about them.

I dont agree with it being such but I see the angle and point of this. Not everyone has internet for their system, I've had mine for only a little over a year, add to that needing an online pass which costs money. Rather than just buying the game and being able to beat it as is (say you buy it used) you must buy an online pass which I think is around $10. It could be seen as forcing people to pay an additional $10 just to get the 'good' ending.

Like I said, I dont agree with the thought but I don understand it.
