Thank you Bioware for finally addressing this.

Posting from the UK here- does this glitch stop imports from working completely, or is it simply an issue with recreating faces?

At the moment, it only seems to affect the facial reconstruction of your imported character. The reconstruction fails completely, displays an error message, and picks some random cycled preset as your character

OK, thanks to all who replied. Had a play with the CC in the demo and got some pretty good matches, so if the patch hasn't hit by March 9th then it'll do.

Okay... thanks for recognizing the problem, Chris. However, I don't see how this wasn't tested for. Did nobody test an ME1-imported character? Oh God, what kind of other import problems will it have...? :(

This is what my Shep looks like using the face code pulled from ME2. Kinda close but still fairly different. Some people looked at it and said "it's the same guy" others said "doesn't even look close to same person". I'm kinda in the middle.

The only problem I see are the eyes, you change the shape and color, and I wouldn't be able to tell the difference from a regular transfer update. I think it's mainly the angle and lighting that's throwing people off so much.

The main problem I have is with the eyes and the brown. They simply dont exist in ME3 to fit their ME2 counterparts, what makes my Shepard look completely diferent.

Maybe I should put the helmet always on and dont look at my Shepard at all. At least then I can imagine him the way he really is.

If I may be permitted a tiny spoiler...

Has anyone found the Shepard VI in the game? Is it using your old face? Or the reconstructed face?

Since this is only affecting ME1 imported faces, I think I'll finish my Fem Shep playthrough for which is do have a ME2 face code for and then play ME3 with that character. I was hoping to play with my Canon Shep which I've had unchanged since ME1. It's a shame they put so much focus on MP when SP should have been the priority...it's the mode that made ME3 possible, and yet, we get the short end of the stick it seems.

Generally speaking I don't like to comment about frustrations with bugs or complain when things don't go perfectly at launch...

But I have to echo the question of how did this happen?

How was this not tested for or checked?

I'm actually surprised how much of a shadow this has put on the game for me.
Seems like something I could deal with (having to make an approximation of my
Shepards) but it's actually kind of sapped my enthusiasm for a game I've been anticipating
for five years.

I mean, I know I'll get over it in the coming days or weeks, and that it'll be
patched (hopefully properly and not that preset half-measure RiGoRmOrTiS_UK
pointed out as a possibility) ... but in the meantime I kind of just feel
crappy; not angry, but lousy.

Hmm, when will this be fixed. I really don't want to have to recreate my Shepards for ME3...

And that is not because It was a ME1 import. With a character that I created directly in ME2 I have the same problem.

The exact same face code in ME2 and ME3 have completely diferent results.

Sadly, I think this issue will not be simple to fix, if it could be fixed at all.

Glad Bioware is fixing it for those who are upset about it.

I haven't gotten my game yet, but I am suspecting (unless Bioware's really fast with this) there won't be a fix by the time I get it. But that's OK. I don't think my Shep will be too hard to remake.

This was a know issue, although Bioware didn't acknowledge it until the game was released because of $, for 2 weeks or more, and yet, they still haven't developed a patch. They probably knew about this for a while before that, so I would say don't hold your breath.

They have known about this for a while now, so making the patch really shouldn't take too long...

The thing that frustrates me is the fact that my Shepard no longer looks bald. The hair is visible with his normal skin tone unlike the previous two games. The only way to counter this is to make his skin much darker, but even then you can still see the hair, not to mention it no longer looks like my Shepard. Why couldn't they have just added a bald option? Ugh. Very disappointed.

Also, the female lips, amongst other options, are all visibly different as well. My cute looking female Shep from ME1 and ME2 can't be re-created in ME3.

That's exactly why it upsets me even more, is because they KNEW there was a huge issue and still released it

I want to wait until a patch comes, but I worry that I won't go back to the game if I wait too long. That's what happened with DAII. I got the character slow down bug that crippled my game, so I decided to wait until the game was fixed. I have never gone back to it.

Who wants to bet that they'll turn the patch into a day 2 DLC for 800MS?

I just hope the fix comes quickly. :(

Can anyone from Bioware answer this: If they fix the import issue, will my looks completely transfer including the purple eye color and hair style? I really hope so. I remade my Shep with the face (looks waaaaaaaay better in-game than in creator) and the last slider on the right so her hair looks like it did in ME2 or close as I can get without being flat red. She looks awesome except the blue eyes make me a sad panda. I can live with it but its definitely something I would have had to think about before I bought ME3 had I known.

This is so true. :( They knew it all the way, because they changed the whole system, so it is impossible to not know. It's untehical. I feel such an idiot for preordering. This is what happens when you act on emotions. :(

I don't understanding why people are "thanking" Bioware. This glaring issue, which was pointed out repeatedly by demo players and is apparent from THE MINUTE YOU START PLAYING THE GAME, wasn't even acknowledged by BioWare until launch!

This is completely sloppy and unprofessional of them.

Hoping for a fix. Now can I ask how can I get my character code in Xbox 360, without doing all the Modio stuff? I remember getting a code for one of my Sheps, but I can't get it now :(

Bioware... I stand up for you.  I buy all your game straight and not used.  I'm a loyal customer.  I am one of those geeks that planned his weekend around your game.

First you block off a vital mission that is pretty core to this universe.  One last Prothean.  Now... that wasn't right.  I don't care how you cut it... that wasn't right.

I've bought all your DLC and I didn't complain because it truly did seem like extra stuff that would come after the game.  Not all of it good, but I bought it all without complaint when it came out.

NOW this punks your day one users.  This doesn't punk people that bought it used.  This doesn't punk people that are buying it for the first time.  It punks your longest running customers first.

That Prothean DLC would be nice.. but I sure as hell don't want a special gun.

You guys have done a lot of good and fine by me, but I'm sorry... this was not cool at all.  A problem that keeps the longest time fans like myself from playing the game from the moment they hit Start.
