no this is simply for not reading your face import.  If your old save isn't importing at all your basically screwed and have to go on without it if we are talking xbox or PS3.  If your talking PC you may be in luck

Hopefully this gets read by Bioware/EA. I submitted an email when my face import wouldn't work because i didn't know that this was a wide spread issue nor that EA was aware of it. 2 days later with no response, I tried live chat. I asked where I could find the face codes from ME2 so I could put them in to ME3. The response I received was "you can't do that." That was it. I said of course I can...there's a field for it and everything. After ten minutes of no response they said "have a great day" or something like that. So I tried another live chat to get a different rep. Same conversation basically. Then 2 days after that my email was responded to with "you can't do that."

Simply saying "We're aware of the situation and working on it" in those instances would have been great. Why did I have to find out about this through google and not through any of the three reps I was in contact with? I also received a similar answer when I asked those live chat reps about my mic input not working in coop. EA reps have been great before this. It's just frustrating when the only response you get is "nope, sorry."

welcome to the great world of customer service friend

Your Shepard is pretty similar to mine. It really annoys me that the undercut hairstyle isn't even in ME3 when it's been in all the others. It's also annoying that the scars and stuff that were available in ME1 never made it into 2 or 3. I find it so bizarre that Bioware seemed to limit the possible choices more and more with each game. And there are various features that I've seen on other characters in the game that aren't available to Shepard. I just don't get that reasoning at all.

Like you, I managed to make a reasonably similar Shepard (minus the hairstyle), but I'd still like it to be more accurate.

I would have thought they'd be unaffected as the issue stems from the character created in ME1.

Some ME2 - ME3 imports also don't translate properly. My alternate Shepard that I made in ME2 and never was in ME1 looks nothing like the original when I import it to ME3.

Just gong by my friends who have PS3's. What I'm hearing is grim. They've said customer service is basically non-existant and they've basically been ignored

 It's unbelievable. First time in history we have the opportunity to play add-on BEFORE the game is ready. And I must say - Mass Effect 3: Take Shep Back isn't my favourite add-on.

Yeah, what I was trying to say is that even if you couldn't choose some hairstyles in a new character, you can use it in an imported save. That means that the hairstyle file is there, but hey don't let you choose it unless you had it in the previous game.

Guys, stop hoping for a fix. They've been aware of the issue for a long time, and haven't done anything to fix it, so stop waiting for something to happen now.

Use the tools at your disposal. For anyone who doesn't know yet, this method works for the facial structure (use a browser other than IE for upload, Google Chrome worked for me), and the NEW GIBBED'S MASS EFFECT 3 SAVE EDITOR is there to iron out leftover elements (eye, hair and skin colour, etc.). Also, the editor allows you to change your face at any time in the game, no need to restart your game in order to enter facecode or whatever. Full procedure:

1. Generate a facecode from your ME2 save using the YAML converter;

2. Open the ME3 character creator (i.e. start a new game in ME3), enter facecode, make any corrections you deem necessary, save the game;

3. Load the ME3 save in Gibbed ME3 Save editor and the ME2 save in Gibbed ME2 Save editor, copy over any values that were left out by the YAML converter (notably eye shape and colour, hair shape and colour etc), save;

4. Using Gibbed, export headmorph from your new edited ME3 save, and import it into your latest ME3 playthrough save.

5. ???

6. PROFIT!!

My result, in the space of a few minutes:

ME1-2:

ME3:

After getting the facial structure from the YAML converter, I corrected eye shape and eye colour using Gibbed (by copying vector values from an ME2 save opened in ME2 Gibbed editor), and decided to keep the new hair and eyebrows since they're more high-def and better styled. By now I'm halfway through ME3 and feel that this is "my" Shepard, though with slightly less makeup and better combed hair.

So my advice to everyone is to stop waiting for the patch, and take your future into your own hands. Bioware made a glaring mistake and are not too eager to correct it, but let's not let them ruin our gameplay any more than they already have.

Wait, you can even get scars to import using the Gibbed method?

I took the code from ME2 and input it in ME3 (there was only 1 digit difference). And the face that came up is not even close to my old Shep. Is this the same for everyone?
Is it supposed to import the way you levelled up your old character, because alowing to change your class for an imported character seems weird.
Any news on the fix?

Stop defending Bioware just because there is a fanmade tool avaible for us to get a "temporary fix". Fanboys.

Indeed.  We shouldn't have to rely on fanmade workarounds.  Bioware should have fixed this before the game even released.  There's no shame in a Day 1 patch.  It wouldn't have hurt sales to admit they screwed up, and had a fix ready on day 1.

I'm just very concerned that when they do fix it, it will be a shoddy fix, and still won't produce an exact duplicate of MY Shepard.  I don't want "close enough", or "pretty similar".  I want MY Shep.

I feel I should not have to spend hours and hours fussing with a fanmade workaround to try to get something even sort of close.

I should be able to import, immediately recognize my Shepard as MINE, and play the game.

Bare minimum, that is what Bioware should be providing.

Some not-found save games are recoverable on the XBox 360.

Pheonix, is your workaround for PC only?

Gibbed's editor also works on xbox saves, you'll just have to go through a few more steps to extract the xbsav then you can edit like a pcsav.

This.

I'll endevour to include a section for extracting the xbsav as well, but unfortunately I've never owned an X360 and so it might not be incredibly helpful to you. Regardless, as Merdink has mentioned, the Gibbed save editor does operate on xbox saves so theoretically it should work.

Just give me a little while to, you know, eat.

The procedure is for correction of another problem, but steps 1 through 12 address extracting a Mass Effect 2 save from the XBox 360 storage.

What's the use in this thread? If they had really cared they would have had it working for launch.

Frankly Bioware, I don't care how bad people think the endings are, it's your game I won't complain. I also won't criticize you for choosing to launch day 1 DLC even if I think it's bad press to gamers.

However, a broken fundamental gameplay mechanic is unacceptable. And in the context of the fact that you MADE day 1 DLC for day one without the core game complete, it's clear you never cared. I realize business is about making profits, and you had to release on time for some economic reason.

Yet, if you are so negligent that you trick your customers into purchasing a broken game, and I know your "core fans" are but a minority, eventually even the more casual gamers will choose not to buy from you. Shoddy business practices can mess up that bottom line. Ask Capcom.

Upon completion of ME3, which I am not allowed to return for a refund, I will delete this account and never purchase anything from you again. You've lost consumer confidence. I never was a "fan" of yours to begin with, but now I'm willing to boycott your products. Good luck.

PS if you really are releasing new endings in DLC you absolutely disgust me. Love, Derbydog.

It's getting hard to avoid spoilers on news sites while waiting for this patch. I hope it comes out soon before the spoilers become unavoidable:/

Should I expect a fix?

I haven't even played the single player because I want to use my Shepard. I don't feel like doing some fan-made hour long process because BioWare was too lazy to make sure ME1 faces imported correctly into ME3. (Since I play on Xbox I would have to waste my time doing extra stuff)

Yeah, I've already been hit with some spoilers. I went to the Mass Effect 2 forums to get my ME fix, and even there douchbags have created ME3 spoiler threads. I wish people would be more careful.

I'm actively avoiding several of my friends right now. I know they've completed the game and will want to talk to me about it, so in addition to their being sites and areas of sites I can't visit, there are whole, actual people I can't speak to.

Ok.....and we want them to stop? Is that being around or to not do what they're not doing?
