I've noticed that almost all talk about this refers to the Xbox or PC version. Are PS3 users even more screwed?

does this thead also cover the problem with the importer not finding your file at all?

Hopefully this gets read by Bioware/EA. I submitted an email when my face import wouldn't work because i didn't know that this was a wide spread issue nor that EA was aware of it. 2 days later with no response, I tried live chat. I asked where I could find the face codes from ME2 so I could put them in to ME3. The response I received was "you can't do that." That was it. I said of course I can...there's a field for it and everything. After ten minutes of no response they said "have a great day" or something like that. So I tried another live chat to get a different rep. Same conversation basically. Then 2 days after that my email was responded to with "you can't do that."
Simply saying "We're aware of the situation and working on it" in those instances would have been great. Why did I have to find out about this through google and not through any of the three reps I was in contact with? I also received a similar answer when I asked those live chat reps about my mic input not working in coop. EA reps have been great before this. It's just frustrating when the only response you get is "nope, sorry."

I would have thought they'd be unaffected as the issue stems from the character created in ME1.

Your Shepard is pretty similar to mine. It really annoys me that the undercut hairstyle isn't even in ME3 when it's been in all the others. It's also annoying that the scars and stuff that were available in ME1 never made it into 2 or 3. I find it so bizarre that Bioware seemed to limit the possible choices more and more with each game. And there are various features that I've seen on other characters in the game that aren't available to Shepard. I just don't get that reasoning at all.
Like you, I managed to make a reasonably similar Shepard (minus the hairstyle), but I'd still like it to be more accurate.

Guys, stop hoping for a fix. They've been aware of the issue for a long time, and haven't done anything to fix it, so stop waiting for something to happen now.
Use the tools at your disposal. For anyone who doesn't know yet, this method works for the facial structure (use a browser other than IE for upload, Google Chrome worked for me), and the NEW GIBBED'S MASS EFFECT 3 SAVE EDITOR is there to iron out leftover elements (eye, hair and skin colour, etc.). Also, the editor allows you to change your face at any time in the game, no need to restart your game in order to enter facecode or whatever. Full procedure:
1. Generate a facecode from your ME2 save using the YAML converter;
2. Open the ME3 character creator (i.e. start a new game in ME3), enter facecode, make any corrections you deem necessary, save the game;
3. Load the ME3 save in Gibbed ME3 Save editor and the ME2 save in Gibbed ME2 Save editor, copy over any values that were left out by the YAML converter (notably eye shape and colour, hair shape and colour etc), save;
4. Using Gibbed, export headmorph from your new edited ME3 save, and import it into your latest ME3 playthrough save.
5. ???
6. PROFIT!!
My result, in the space of a few minutes:
ME1-2:
ME3:
After getting the facial structure from the YAML converter, I corrected eye shape and eye colour using Gibbed (by copying vector values from an ME2 save opened in ME2 Gibbed editor), and decided to keep the new hair and eyebrows since they're more high-def and better styled. By now I'm halfway through ME3 and feel that this is "my" Shepard, though with slightly less makeup and better combed hair.
So my advice to everyone is to stop waiting for the patch, and take your future into your own hands. Bioware made a glaring mistake and are not too eager to correct it, but let's not let them ruin our gameplay any more than they already have.

Stop defending Bioware just because there is a fanmade tool avaible for us to get a "temporary fix". Fanboys.

no this is simply for not reading your face import. If your old save isn't importing at all your basically screwed and have to go on without it if we are talking xbox or PS3. If your talking PC you may be in luck

Gibbed's editor also works on xbox saves, you'll just have to go through a few more steps to extract the xbsav then you can edit like a pcsav.Fnordamatic wrote...
Pheonix, is your workaround for PC only?
This.
I'll endevour to include a section for extracting the xbsav as well, but unfortunately I've never owned an X360 and so it might not be incredibly helpful to you. Regardless, as Merdink has mentioned, the Gibbed save editor does operate on xbox saves so theoretically it should work.
Just give me a little while to, you know, eat.

I'm actively avoiding several of my friends right now. I know they've completed the game and will want to talk to me about it, so in addition to their being sites and areas of sites I can't visit, there are whole, actual people I can't speak to.darth shango wrote...

Ok.....and we want them to stop? Is that being around or to not do what they're not doing?feliciano2040 wrote...
