Unfortunately, no matter what, we'll never get our scars, or decent FemShep hair again. Goddess, I hate what they've done to all the hair.
I would have been tempted to reconsttruct her with a pony tail, since she just doesn't look right with the new hairdo, but... I can't design a face using the ponytail for the life of me that doesn't end up looking like Janeane Garofalo as The Bowler from Mystery Men

I am really tempted just to customize my characters face again and start playing, I will do this if there has been no more news of the release of the patch or news by the end of the week
Before you do, be sure to make it known to EA/BW that you think they're complete jerks for not providing more info other than "We confirmed what's wrong with the game," and apparently as Darkwun said outsourced it to EA as "low priority"

I'll join the crowds of people that are incredulous that a broken feature got through however much QC. I have to wonder, did not a single person in QC transfer ME1 > ME2 > ME3 without modifying (or minor modifications) to their Shep?
I think its only fair to remember that finding glitches is QC's job and I'm willing to bet that it was found. Prioritizing and fixing glitches on the other hand is the responsibility of the developers, the same developers who chose to change the customization system and remove facial features.

Sounds like an automatic message.
Would it have been better to not reply? Because it is much easier to remain silent.
As Ashley said, "Damned if you do, damned if you don't", eh, Chris?
Me, I choose to wait and hope it will be fixed, as they, Bioware, says it is being worked on. Now, if in the end nothing comes, well, then they have absolutely managed to shoot themselves through both ears with bow and arrow and tossed out any trust remaining (this face import bug is a baffling miss, which I sincerely hope it is). But, until then I will give them the benefit of the doubt.
But like EDI, I'll be watching...

***Update on using Gibbed for the Xbox version***
I tried gibbed for my Xbox saves using Phoenix's and Malcroix's method. You can edit your save games just fine using the method, the problem comes when you move the save back to the an Xbox storage device, like say...the Xbox USB you used to get the save game in your PC. The moment you transfer your save game back to the USB, everything you changed about the appearance gets reset back to what it was before you changed it.
I copied over all the appearance variables from OffsetBones, scalar parameters, vector parameters, and morph features from ME2 into the ME3 save game, saved the modified .xbsav file, closed gibbed, opened gibbed back up again and opened the .xbsav file I had just saved and made sure all the changes had been saved (everything checked out, all changes to variables were still there), went into modio, deleted original .xbsav file from USB, injected modified .xbsav file into USB, closed modio, opened modio again and extracted the modified .xbsav I had just injected into the USB, opened it up in Gibbed and all the changes to the character's appearance were gone (all changes to variables had been reset).
I am not sure what is happening.
That's interesting. I'm not an X360 owner myself so I can't test this. It could be that Modio keeps some kind of backup maybe or that the Xbox version has some kind of interdepancy on other saves? If anyone elaborates on this, I'll make sure to provide updates.

Don't get me wrong I am anoyed that they didnt see this problem in testing, also how can it be low priority when it is a major bug in there game and its one of there main features

Here's the direct import (lolz) and the result of 7 minutes and 46 seconds of tweaking it to get it looking a bit more like the original - I can accept tied back hair because this time, Shepard means business...!

Texmod *might* make a hell of a difference when you create your Shepard; I was able to recreate mine with something more like 85% likeness rather than the default "Who's that?"... while it means more hoops to jump through, it's still a solution if the makeup and complexion options just ain't cutting it for you

@Chugs, face code is 543.11W.F7J.72J.2KE.1HC.9QI.7B1.LQ8.D17.3G6.376
Use the Devon face texture to really make it pop out, otherwise it won't look quite the same (different lip texture and lighter eye makeup)

Hmmm. The Gibbed copy over of values worked pretty well..however..for some reason I am level 27. Is this a normal occurance of the game once you visit your first planet?
Yes. That was likely the level you finished ME2 with; most of my characters are 30 so I level up to 31 after getting to the first planet myself.

Thanks man.
Also, I have noticed that the tweaks I have done in Glibbed have somehow 'stuck' to the 'old' ME2 face code which was a bit off. That is, whenever I enter the ME2 face code where I used to get the slightly off-looking Shepard, I get the almost 100% looking like my Shepard that I made in Glibbed. I wonder if that is normal? It is like when I injected the Glibbed modified file it is duplicating across saved games or something. Just dont want anything to become corrupted here :\\

(That's when her eyes are closed. That's her UPPER eyelash BELOW her eyeball.)
I probably could've lived with the odd bit of clipping if the ME2 offsets had made significant changes to the facial structure to make it more like my real Shepard. But they basically just pinched the mouth and nose and kind of made the eyelids move down (which I guess led to the clipping). Comparison with the direct import here:

I'm 1 hour into the game and literally have not made more than 15 responses, everything is automated and the budget cuts on this game are starting to show. I saw someone say that all the characters look like they've gotten plastic surgery and its true...I had a "WTF" moment when I saw Anderson.
This is probably the biggest disappointment with any game I've ever played. Hopefully when they fix the face imports it will justify the major functions lacking within the game

Pheonix, thanks for your effort on this issue. However, the ME3 editor link in somehow disabled. Could you check on that link. I can't download the zip file.Pheonix52gx wrote...

Also, you will need two versions of Gibbed's Mass Effect save editor. One for ME2, one for ME3. Links below:
Mass Effect 2 Editor:

Mass Effect 3 Editor:

.
It's dead because the version was updated, just go here: svn.gib.me/builds/masseffect3/ and get the latest file that starts saveedit-***

Indeed. This is why I'm not certain we've got all the methodology down pat here. The result you've got there could be that you copied over a variable incorrectly. That said, it's also entirely possible that this data isn't copying well because of the LOD or MorphFeatures collections. The latter I copied and nothing happened but then I copied other variables and that seemed to get closer than not coping the MorphFeatures.
If I were you, I'd try coping your colour variables; you might be surprised how much more like the shep you're after it gets.
Still, all it shows is that it is unlikely any fan method is going to provide the solution people want; Bioware fixing it to get their Shep. I'm sure they're on it and I won't slate Mr. Priestly or the company, but I would like to be playing.
