It's downright insulting! We shouldn't stand for this, and luckily we aren't!

I realise sometimes that it's just a video game, but than I realise that we paid good money for their product!

I dont usually post here but i am also very frustrated with this ****. I have had the game almost week now and still havent played it. This is epic failure. Im pretty skeptical that they will fix this bug. Pc players might be in better position with all kind mods available. I guess i just have to start the whole series again with default shep or sell all the three games.

Like ConstantCupcake, I'm really noticing the lack of an apology about this.

They've not even managed the infamous dodge which is popular in the UK at the moment: "We're very happy to apologise..." *waits patiently* *drums fingers* *no actual apology forthcoming*

I totally agree, you can see from my timeline I tried to respond diplomatically - tragically you can also see the excitement with which I tweeted about all the trailers leading up to launch and rave about their products. Betrayed :crying:

Well in a way, they've also broken an unspoken expectation of any game, of any time at play. Videogaming is just entertainment: ergo it needs to just work. For me, it's supposed to be a few hours respite from an extremely challenging real world, a relaxing and inspiring immersion in an alternate universe where I can have amazing adventures and where I can take on the bad guys and actually win. If it's broken or buggy, if it becomes just another hassle for me, then it's failed in more ways than one. So yeah, I don't buy the "it's just a video game" as an excuse for a broken product or as an attempt to belittle legitimate customer complaints.

I want a ****ing ETA on the damn patch so I know weather or not I'll be waiting for the damn thing. I hate just being in the dark like this and quite frakly, I don't understand why Bioware is even keeping us in the dark.

I am beginning to think it's becouse they ***ed it up so badly, that they don't know how to undo this. Oh, it would be a joke of a decade in gaming history.

I understand that the inability to coherently continue your personal Shepard's story from ME1 to ME3 may be depressing, but I believe that what you're suggesting as a way to alleviate the problem before the fix is put in is a little bit over-the-top.  I was slightly choked when I found out about it as well, and I'm still waiting for a fix, but in the mean time, what I did was load up Mass Effect 2, go back to my character and take a picture.  Then in ME3 I tried to make it as close as possible.  For the most part it was a success, it wasn't perfect, but I know I'm going to play through the entire series again in the future; by then I'm confident that this issue will be fixed.

Keep an eye on The Trenches (Penny Arcade -

I don't understand. You say that the Mass Effect Tools utility fixes the issue for PC players, but I go on the tutorial and see a step-by-step process to fix it for the x-box...?

So aside from using social media petitions and what not, have people been bombarding EA Support about this? - help.ea.com/connect-with-us

I would think that if they get inundated with emails from everyone having the problem saying how angry they are and that they want an ETA on a fix, that they are more likely to feel some pressure rather than ignore the issue

Haha I was thinking something like this as well. The Illusive Man rebuilt Shepard in ME2, in ME3 it's up to the player!

HAW.

HAW HAW HAW.

Erhum, yes. Anyway.
Good idea, I guess.

I just hope we keep this up, and that this doesn't just disappear after a few weeks. They need to know we're angry with them, and we'd better get a 'Sorry' before this is all over.

Bioware, please just let us know what the patch is going to do. You must have decided that by now, and letting us know would save a lot of people a lot of time and frustration.

I contacted EA Support on UK release day (9th) specifically about the broken character import, and got the following on the 10th, which looks like a standard reply, and as you can see, is not terribly helpful. Note the part I have underlined. Is this the same as the help page someone spotted, dated pre-release? Edit: yes it is. Also, why does it keep mentioning Steam?

But as you say, the point is to keep asking, even if the response leaves a lot to be desired!

Hello Name Removed,

Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts.

I have gone through your email regarding and let me assure you that I will try my level best to resolve your issue. Below details can be helpful importing the character a save file from steam into ME3.

What do I need to import my Shepard into Mass Effect 3?
You must have completed the game in your Mass Effect 2 save file in order to import it into Mass Effect 3.

Mass Effect 3 cannot find my Mass Effect 2 save file on PC!
Mass Effect 3 for PC searches for Mass Effect 2 files automatically, you will not be able to search for them manually. Make sure your file is located in the following location on your PC:

Documents > BioWare > Mass Effect 2 > Save > [save files]

Can you import a save file from Mass Effect into Mass Effect 3?
No, Mass Effect 3 cannot import a save file from Mass Effect (1). You will need a completed save file from Mass Effect 2. Otherwise, Mass Effect 3 will prompt you to select choices from ME and ME2 when you create a new game.

If Shepard died in the ending of Mass Effect 2, will I be able to use that save file for Mass Effect 3?
Nope! You need a save file where Shepard survives the ending of Mass Effect 2.

Will I be able to make changes to my Shepard when I import?
You will be given the option to alter the appearance of Shepard, and you will be able to change class (i.e. Soldier to Adept) as well.
NOTE: Some ME2 saves will not be able to import the face-file of your Shepard. You will need to re-create the appearance when importing the file.

Will I be able to import a save file from Steam into Mass Effect 3?
Some customers are concerned that their Mass Effect 2 save files from the Steam version for the game will not work in Mass Effect 3, which requires Origin. Do not worry, any complete Mass Effect 2 save file can be imported into Mass Effect 3.

In case of any further questions, please feel free to get in touch with us anytime. You can also visit our website and review our extensive self-help knowledgebase (http://help.ea.com).

That's pretty f***ing disturbing. I have just sent an email to EA customer support (UK also) and we can compare responses. I think if we get the same basic response the assumption can be made that the issue was known about and DELIBERATELY IGNORED (although the info from several pages back about a similar FAQ on some other part of EA's site corroborates this further). If that is the case Bioware have lost a customer and I will spread the bad word as much as I spread the good - and it's funny how much faster and farther bad news travels. This was a HUGE mistake if the case is that this issue was known about and disregarded.
This gets worse and worse.
