Couldn't agree more with this - a lot of people need to calm down and just wait. We've complained and they've said they're fixing this... in a thread they've stickied; what point is there in them repeating that?
Sorry, but stickying a thread isn't enough to turn my $80 box of disappointment and anticipation into a game I can play. A lot of people who are saying this isn't a big deal are clearly, like the guy you quoted, not fans of the series since ME1.
They need to be giving us details about how this patch is going, and not just an explanation of how all patches work. They need to know how insulted their core fans feel, not only about their lack of updates, but also about how they let a problem this huge slip though the cracks.
I've been a fan of BW since Baulders gate....I got Mass Effect 1 on release, and I still have the original copy. I got ME2 on release, and still have the original copy.... I got ME3 on release, and plan on keeping my copy for a long time too....so yes, I am a fan of Mass Effect....
For me, issues with games are an annoyance at best.....
Sometimes, people confuse the f**k out of me.... you hate BW now...you hate EA now, you refuse to buy any BW/EA products again....you won't support BW/EA in the future, yet sig boxes are full of "WE WANT OUR SHEPARD BACK" and "WHERES THE PATCH??" and most people who have said their pi55ed off, continue to use the BW forums...spam the EA forums, and demand their faulty product be fixed, yet they hate BW?
If you hate BW so much, get rid of your copies of ME3, delete your account on here, and move on...
or, suck it up as human error, be patient, wait for a patch, and play the game....buy the DLC which will add to the overal experience of what is, and excellent series of games....
It's funny, because I think you're the most worked up person I've seen post in this thread.
People here are simply saying No. No, this not an acceptable quality of product. No, this is not acceptable business practice. No, this is not acceptable customer service. Saying No to unacceptable behaviour does not make us hysterical or haters.
Personally I thought Dragon Age: Origins was a remarkable piece of work, and along with exquisite Witcher it drew me back into single-player RPG's after a hiatus. Right now i'm kicking off my weekend by having a peek at SW:TOR while it's on a free weekend pass. I don't love EA:Bioware or hate EA:Bioware. Bioware is not my friend or my lover, Bioware is a company. Mass Effect 3 is a faulty product which should not have been released until it was functional and the more discerning among their customers are quite rightly telling them so. See, no hysteria, no love, no hate.
I'm not worked up at all.....
I can see this issue is an upset to some people, and it shouldn't of happened in the first place, but it has happend.
I've read some people want to march on the BW offices, and some are calling for lawsuits.
Don't get me wrong, I love gaming, and I've been a ME fan since day 1. I won't argue about it, because I'm not going to die because of this, civilization isn't going to end either....I'm just going to be patient and wait for BW to sort it.
See, not worked up at all

Which strikes you as most peculiar:
A. The scorned fans wondering in the pertinent thread if/when the defect will be remedied
-or-
B. The fan who joins that thread to complain about the fans talking about the defect
?
If this thread offends you so much and you're having difficulty understanding the discussion in here, you're under no obligation to keep posting.or, suck it up as human error, be patient, wait for a patch, and play the game....buy the DLC which will add to the overal experience of what is, and excellent series of games....
Having just been defrauded by EA/Bioware, you propose that I purchase another product by them, which incidentally happens to have been excised from the original Mass Effect 3, to be sold separately.
I've not complained about the thread at all, or been nasty, or calous in my replies to anyone.... Like I said, its an issue for most players, it shouldn't have happened in the first place, but the world isn't a perfect place...mistakes happen.
If you don't want to buy anymore EA products or DLC for ME3, then don't. I never said you or anyone else had to. I am, because the quality of DLC for ME2 was excellent.
I've played EA games since the early 90's and I've enjoyed all of them, Well, apart from the FIFA series, how many more times can they repackage that?!

I can't even seem to finish a match of multiplayer, either. Not only is it broken, but people keep leaving in the middle of the match, and the last enemy of a given wave just magically spawns OUTSIDE of the map, so we're left running around for 20 minutes; someone leaves, the wave starts over again, and we all get killed. It's so very frustrating, and I actually can't stand it. The only reason I'm playing it is for the war assets for singleplayer.
And theres a reason I didn't want MP!!

Create an account with a photo-sharing site(most ppl use Photobucket), then upload the pics there.
Open a new tab/window and come here, and use the "standard form" reply post window(the one with all the emoticons/text modifiers visible).
On the Photobucket tab, highlight the picture you want to use and click on the "Image code" window. Then switch to this tab and click on the Insert/Edit link icon(7th from the left). Paste the Image Code link into it, and voila.

I uploaded the pics into My Albumn (under My Content in the left menu), then clicking Share This under the picture gives the option to copy/paste the UBB code for your message. I'm new though - there are probably other and much better ways!

The problem is not even in ME3, or only partially there, the problem is that the ME2 Save files didn't have a Face code in them when you imported a ME1 character.
What about the problems with (non-NG+) ME2 characters (not imported from ME1)?
I didn't have a Character like that, but I think it will be the same problem. No face code in the save files. Reasons? I have no clue. However, Bioware will have to find a way to create the face code from the Raw data in the save games, (easy part) and adjust it so it will fit better in the ME3 CC. (not so easy part)

I can't see this getting fixed properly. Mainly because it's a different engine thats been used. We'll wait and see, hopefully im wrong.
Correct me if I'm wrong, people, but weren't ME2 and ME3 created using the Unreal Engine 3?

My ME2 saves have face codes. So no, that's not the cause.

Nope. not safe if you haven't gotten into the game. But, in typical Topless Robot fashion, quite funny.

Yep. It's been said (and even a meme used to emphasise) that all they have to do is put the character creation import feature from ME2 into ME3. Just import the raw data.
I think the only reason they didn't do that is that the character models in ME3 have changed so significantly and have such high fidelity in ME3 that they were afraid people would see the differences and think the graphics were bad. (As to why they didn't just update and keep the ME2 assets is beyond my comprehension.)
Guess what, in this case, longtime gamers don't really care about the graphics, it's gameplay that counts and part of the gameplay in Mass Effect is being able to play the trilogy with your character, the one you created in ME1. I don't need my Shep to look all shiny and new, just to look like my Shep.

Then, the only explanation I have is that the ME3 CC couldn't handle your Code cause the missing features there. Btw, I still think that your Shepard is pretty close, just needed a little tweaking. Did you tray Face Complexion or Structure? And a less "negative" mouth?

Hey, come on. It's totally safe! You just can't pay too much attention to some of them.:innocent: #8, #7. #6, #5 & #3 are totally safe. The safe points cover game mechanics, the inclusion of the From Ashes DLC, the glitch list, lighting, multiplayer...in fact, I'll stake my rep here that they're non-spoilery.
Trust me. I'm a gamer.
#8 - White Shepards Can't Jump
Actually, neither can any other ethnicities of Shepards. Sure, the Mass Effect series has lacked a jump button since the first game, but when you can fight off hordes of enemies, throw them in the air with a biotic slam, and travel through space itself, the inability to jump a couple of feet can be grating, especially when your objective is blocked by nothing but a low railing. Though the movement system has been greatly improved over previous Mass Effect games, you still can't move like a real human being would. This is of course due to the necessity of it being a game as well as the need to keep you on certain paths, but it's still a pain in the ass.
#7 - That Day-One DLC
Mass Effect 3 had a $10 DLC expansion available on the same day the game itself was released. DAY ONE. The title is From Ashes, which is appropriate because you would have to be smoking something if you didn't think EA was going to haul you over a barrel with the DLC. Look, I know DLC is an inescapable part of videogame life now, but by releasing it on the same day of the game, Bioware very much seems to be charging for content they could have easily put on the game disc. Maybe that's not actually true, but it sure looks like it, and it's left many gamers sore in their backside areas. Specifically, their wallets. Did you think I meant something else?
#6 - The Glitches
Disappearing characters. Wonky physics. Walking through walls. Walking partway through walls, and then getting stuck. Wrong camera angles. Planets that won't scan. Difficulty importing characters. Elevators that stop randomly in-between floors. Shepard soaring through the air. These are just a few of the many, many glitches found in ME3. Of course, any game as big and ambitious as Mass Effect 3 will have some bugs no matter what. What's irritating is that there are so many of them, especially when Bioware apparently found the time to make that damn DLC.
#5 - It's Too Damn Dark
Not in subject matter. After all, Earth has been invaded by Reapers, who have killed a massive portion of the population. That's dark ****. The problem is that the game is too visually dark. The Normandy itself is as bright as a pool hall in a bad side of town where people get stabbed for fun. I can barely see the two-foot-tall walls I can't jump over.
Now, #4, #2 and #1 are really spoilery, but luckily their headers tell you that, so I just unfocused my eyes and scrolled to the only other non-spoilery one, #3.
#3 - The Multiplayer
You know, the last two Mass Effect games sold just fine, and they were totally single-player. Adding multiplayer to Mass Effect 3 is technically fine, but having the player's multiplayer performance adjusting the outcome of the single player game? Not okay. One of the reasons I played Mass Effect was for a really strong single player game; I could actually play something on my Xbox without having to deal with swearing racist 14-year-olds. Now Bioware is making you deal with them. Also, the single player has been tweaked so if you don't want to play the game like it's an RPG, you don't have to! You can play it like a shooter! Hey, Bioware, you know what? Stop messing up my RPG with your vain attempt to get shooter people to like Mass Effect -- the people who want to play shooters are already playing Modern Warfare 3.
