Mine. lol. Man they really ruined that hairstyle among other things. Incorrect mouth and eye shadow. Also the face seems to be pushed down on the head, so I raised the eyes, nose, and mouth. Also switched the mouth to one that looks right. I was able to tweak it back to about 95% of what my Shep should be, but I'm still going to wait for the patch and see if it solves the problem before I play. I don't have a pic of my tweaked version. Maybe later.

Thank you for the update. Project like that are why I wish the Mass Effect series was more mod friendly.

Rather than add to previous options in the Character Creator Bioware opted to just replace them and shuffle them around which is what's causing all of the problems.

i believe you are 100% correct. they need an update to put those old character creator options back in the game. impossible to believe they did'nt know this issue existed......

Ironically enough I first signed up yesterday at this time to find out what the heck was happening and that it wasn't just me who was having this problem. Honestly, this error is just pathetic. Especially for a game whose major hype is continuity/continuing story, they decide to revamp/replace the CC at the expense of their longest-playing fans. I have not, nor will I attempt to re-create my shep because frankly I Shouldn't have to. I've done a total of like 10 playthroughs with him, Paragon, Renegade, all the romance options and all of those possible combinations as well. He is My Shep and it would seem fake/creepy to hear "my" character's voice come out of some other character's mouth. I hope the scars/eyes transfer, because my final playthrough I had bright red renegade eyes which honestly look awesome, and I specifically didn't get my scars fixed for that reason. (Slight divergence if I may, does the scar removal in ME 2 also remove the red renegade eyes as well?). I preordered the collector's edition and waited from like 8 pm at my local store to be the third in line for the midnight release, got home and expected to not go to bed til 10 am at the earliest because I would be So into the game. I popped the disc in..and you know the rest. I know there are several workarounds with varying degrees of success, but honestly I shouldn't Have to try those either (though I'm thankful to those that found that out/linked etc) as this is Bioware's problem and BW's lack of empathy or care for it's longest-playing customers created this problem. I Will not play a standard Shep either, I'm just letting ME 3 sit there as an $80 paperweight until the patch hits, not even playing multiplayer either. Bioware as a company has geared itself more towards the FPS shooter crowd and those who like Call of Duty multiplayer and shunned loyal RPG fans who Loved ME 1 most of all. Honestly I was perturbed when I heard there would be ammo in ME 2, and when talk of fixing ME 3 for RPG fans was floated around as well as them listening to feedback, I assumed they meant going back more to RPG roots, like Fully customizable weapons that overheat instead of the "yay let's go find ammo" minigame that I can play on any FPS. I severely hope that Bioware announces an official apology and possibly a random avatar item or who knows what in order to compensate for this utter failure on their part as a developer and a company. The fact that this apparently has been a known problem for at least a week or more and they have said NOTHING until release day is depressing. That also just confirms they only want our $ and did not want to risk cancelled pre-orders (which I probably would have done if this bug was widely-known and if I had only gotten the normal edition). In essence, KOTOR: Epic, ME 1: Epic.. ME 3: Launch day Failure. I would never have expected this from you guys, maybe I need to lower my expectations on how good of a company I thought you were...

I pray that if they get this fixed that they can push it through MS's approval process quickly. Because having to wait a week or more to play as my Shep is gonna make me sad. :(

So if the character creation options have been replaced then, that would mean it's never coming back then right? Because that would mean the content was specifically removed from the game?

 Thanks for the update.
It was so disappointing that a character I spent 5 years developing and making my own was never truly complete when I loaded the game. I cherished those save files to ensure I could play with the character I created and was really sad that it wouldnt work.

I do have to wonder, how was this missed...I hope someone at bioware has had a stern talking to for this mishap...

Forgot to add, also I've heard reports of a VI in ME 3 with your Orignal ME 1 likeness/face intact, so I honestly think it Can be done, they just didn't bother at first or "forgot" about it. Whatever, the box is gathering dust on my shelf til the patch.

Aww man, that's more or less what my ME2 Shepard looks like, now I'll have to mess around trying to create a decent looking one again :(
I noticed the face code in the demo didn't give me anywhere close to what it should have been, but I figured that was only the demo.

Hi everyone

We are aware that some players are having issues importing the faces of characters from Mass Effect 1 or Mass Effect 2 into Mass Effect 3. The issue is likely in how faces were detected when imported from Mass Effect 1 into Mass Effect 2, and we’re working on the best way to correct it for affected players.

As our teams work hard to address the importing of face codes we would like to call out a fan made tool that may be able to help PC users in the short term:
Mass Effect Tools

Some?  Just about half the people I talk to say their imports are glitched, and even more people who don't have their ME 1 face portraits even attempt to load.

The issue isn't how they were detected, its that your new engine added and changed all the variables.  If you kept the Face CC the same, this wouldn't have happened.  If it wasn't broken, it didn't need to be fixed or changed in the first place.

That tool doesn't help everyone out, and its even worse for console players who have been playing Longer than the PC players who got the game.  If you've been working hard on it, then you wouldn't have dropped the ball in the last three months of the subject.  Or the character sprites for civilians, the constant gliches, Armor customization not showing, mission marker bugs, mission bugs that invalidate the code, corrupted Flags for import, the Importer removing the choices for DLC, Importer marking out key information.

Don't pretend to smile off the problem and say you'll get to it eventually, your Smoke and Mirrors bull **** doesn't work.

God..That many other bugs/problems confirmed? :( That is beyond sad for such a hyped game..

Ahhh...I wonder, who was the bright guy who thought faces could just be imported really easy by using the ME2 face codes....completely forgetting that faces created in ME1 don't have face codes, and even then, the faces that CAN be imported using the face code would just automatically create a face using the ME3 character creator and the code...overlooking the fact that the character creating options in ME3 are much different than ME2's. I do wonder, who had the bright idea to just use the face code to bypass all the work they'd have to do otherwise?

Sarcasm now over, I am really glad Bioware is working on this, and I do hope they fix the problem of faces that do import but look nothing like in ME2/ME1 (i.e. using the ME2 face code is not very reliable...). Because after going through a lot of jumps and loops to get the PC fix tool to work for the Xbox (kind of) and get the face code for me ME1 Shepard, he still doesn't look like him...But again, I appreciate Bioware is tackling this problem.

I will ask again... CHRIS, are you aware of the problem with 360 import files? I don't mean cloud or face issue, the normal import save files: there are some ppl reporting problems with their ME3 not recognizing the files.

Wasn't able to import my face originally generated in ME1 to ME3 on the 360 either. Oh well, stuff happens. Just made a new one. Decided to make the character older anyway. She's around 50 this time, gray hair. I like this look better anyway. Looks like she's really earned command the hard way.

The details of the save file was recognized just fine.

Honestly have to say I'm loving the game so far. Very intense. The sparse dialog is fits during the tense situations where there isn't really time for a long drawn out touchy feely conversation. Of course if you want that, you'll have to ask a ... people person. It does get more detailed on ship, and on the Citadel. But otherwise the minimal approach works just fine. My apologies to the hardcore RPGers.

How did this not come up as a problem before you shipped the game?

QA department must have been too busy testing the absolutely critical Kinect features of the game. You must realise that the Kinect functionality will be utilised by infinitely more players than players importing saved games from ME1>ME2>ME3.

So pc players get a fan made fix and console players have to just live with it. Pick up your game BW, geez.

Well this sucks, but guys, give BioWare a break.

+1

I was pretty horrified by the facial textures in the demo, and now feel some trepidation waiting for the game to arrive here in Australia, but I won't presume enough to say anything other than that I hope there's a fix soon.

Given he fact that the graphics of the game have improved, I didn't expect the import to be perfect. To solve this, they should do a black emporium from DAII move and have a place where you can change your face at any time in the game so people can tweaked until they get desired results. This way their save file imports over and they can iron out the niggles.

unfortunately it dint work for me either. it sure took over my saves and all my decisions but not my face. came right away with an error that it cant upload the face. well, i was able to actually create my femshep i had from part 1 as good as i can. gave me actually the chance to change her nose. lol

i hope, until i finished the game with my femshep, the problem will be resolved that i can import my other shepards without any problems.

Ok so, i had follow the steps to take the ME1 to ME2 char code, upload the save file, download the yaml file, upload in the other web, put any name, recover the name and finally get the code, after that i put it on ME3, and i've had to change a few parameters, hair, face paint, and eyes color.

This is my FemShep

ME3 faces seem a huge step back from ME1 - they are primitive to say the least, compared to ME2 they are downright cartoonish.

That a game like ME3 would be released without allowing the player that bought ME2 and ME1 to import the face of his choice is, to say the least, an astonishing oversight.

(Ashley looks like a bimbo and Anderson walks like he pooped in his pants ...)

The game as is now - is unplayable.

I have almost got my femshep right expect the eye area, but maybe it's the eyeshadow that tricks me, in ME/ME2 my shep had a very strong eyeshadow but the eyeshadows in ME3 are very weak.
Also, what happen to my old ponytail, I can't stand the new one so have had to choose a different hairstyle, not exactly a problem because how doesn't change their hairstyle once in while?

While I would definitely use the workaround since it seems to be working I just can't. My Femshep had the violet eyes from ME1 and as far a I know its not available in ME2 or 3 unless you had it in ME1.
