I urge everyone to try the community fix if you haven't already. I'm on Xbox 360 and it was quite straightforward once I followed all the steps laid out here:
http://social.biowar...64/blog/211646/Just a few notes from my experience:
- Take a few pics from all angles of your character in the ME2 Character Creator, you'll need these if you need to tweak anything (which you likely will)
- The hardest part of recreating your character will be the overall face structure; ear position, eye positon, gaunt, cheeks, chin shape, etc... There's so many variables. However, the code seems to maintain these.
- What it doesn't maintain is eye colour, hair colour, hair type, nose type and some other minor features and maybe complexion. With a little bit of tweaking (and referencing photos) you can get your Shep back to an acceptable point.
- That said, if your character used any of the features that were removed, you'll need to see if they have a similar asset. Otherwise, you won't be able to get them the same. I had to compromise on hair colour (as I've harped on about, there's no ginger any more) and nose shape a little bit but he looks pretty good.
- FInally, the character creation lighting is really awful so it's worth getting them to a point where they look decent enough and then play the opening of the game, the cutscene AFTER the "Mass Effect" title is the one where I felt my Shep actually looked very familiar to me, albeit with darker red hair. They also look different because the graphics have improved and BioWare have removed the film grain option so everything is plastic looking.
So that's my recommendation, it's not 100% effective, but it's worth a shot and it may save you some grief if a fix isn't found.
