There is no real hope here. Just a lot of waiting around. I just remade my face to look as close as possible and will move on and be done with it.

Regardless, in my opinion, Bioware simply took on an incredibly difficult feat with this series and to expect it to be perfect is nice and fluffy, but I imagine it's damn hard. I'm not justifying this thread still not being updated, despite so many requests and efforts on the consumer's part, or the perhaps even worse oversight of the game not shipping with this feature working properly.

Bottom line though, it's a game, I've thoroughly enjoyed the 1st and the 2nd, I'll enjoy the 3rd as much as is possible. This whole situation creates a new image of Bioware in my brain; One that does not deserve the hype, the pre-orders, the emotional investment, and like all who already bought the game (hopefully) there will be no short-term memory on display for future products.

There is a line, and it has been crossed. That is all.

This.  And this and this and this.  Forgive me as I geek out in a totally obscure way, but for some reason, this situation reminds me of what, in Queen of  The Damned, Khayman thought of Louis' book(Interview): "Behold, the void."

Anyway, I'm almost done with my ME2 speedrun to see if my 'real' game's choices carry over(turns out I wasn't hit by that particular glitch, I was just using the wrong save file), and if it did, then I'm probably gonna play ME3 at least once.  Like I said, I got my FemShep to look fairly close

http://i299.photobuc...2YI3CompFem.jpg

So I'll be able to make it through if they haven't gotten the patch out by, oh, Monday, which is when I estimate I'll be done.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not giving BW a pass or anything; I'm still very pissed.  But not playing a game I spent $80 on isn't hurting anyone but me, remaining spoiler-free is becoming increasingly difficult, I don't believe they even care anymore, and maybe, just maybe, in-game it'll all turn out for the best.  As others(including me) have said, they spent half a year and God knows how much money on a multiplayer mode that NOBODY ****ING ASKED FOR, when they could have used that extra $$$ to make one of the all-time classic games in history.  Instead, they did the bidding of their overlords, and have burned off a significant amount of cachet and goodwill from longtimers like me.  Since KOTOR, they've released 6(counting ME3) games for my consoles(Xbox & 360) and I've bought all of them day 1.  Hell, for Jade Empire, I actually was so looking forward to it that I knowingly sent my checking account into a negative balance buying it, gladly paying the overdraft fee just so I could get the game.  Never again; from their putting out a game with a broken subsystem that was hawked as key to the franchise; to the D1 DLC that "wasn't ready in time to put on the disc" except that it WAS AND THEY BLATANTLY LIED TO US; to their wall of silence where even a daily "We're working on it" is too time-consuming to post; and though it isn't a glitch -- though it IS unbelieveably, incredibly lazy -- photoshopping a pic of a Getty model to use as Tali's picture(really?  Not that she's not cute or doesn't make a fitting Tali, but It was too much effort or too expensive to so much as take a new shot of her?  Seriously?  Jesus.)...even if the patch does come out before Monday, I'm just done with BioWare after this.  Ever since EA bought them, it's just been one misstep after another, and I'm tired of caring.  I'm also just plain tired, so perhaps when I wake up my feelings will be slightly lighter.

Your ME1/2 Shep is almost exactly like mine. Your ME3 also turned out much better than mine. Damn my lack of CC abilities!

Would you mind sharing the code?

That YAML fix has the right facial structure at least.

Try changing the hair, hair colour, complexion colour, eyes, eye colour, eyebrow colour, lipstick and nose. The mouth looks very close. You should be able to get it closer than with the import. The straight import seems to have lost a lot of the structure.

I went from this in Mass Effect:

To this in Mass Effect 2:

To this in Mass Effect 3:

By just doing this:

KunamiMata wrote...

Here is basically what I did.

1. Start a brand new Mass Effect 2 save file with your Mass Effect imported Shepard. It has to be brand new, because you're going to need to move, not copy it, to a USB flash drive that is formatted to work on your 360. You don't want to do this with your finished game save, so make sure it's a new one (i.e. right when you wake up from your coma, save and quit).

2. Go to Settings in your dashboard, System, Storage, Hard Drive and find your Mass Effect 2 save (not "Mass Effect 2 Importer"). Inside, you should find files for all your DLC and each of your careers. They will all be named after your Shepards and dated. Move the career you just created to your USB flash drive (don't copy, because the Xbox won't allow it).

3. Download and install this program on your PC (it's best to have this version): hotfile.com/dl/143431599/02eaea8/Modio_3.zip.html

4. Plug your USB flash drive into your PC, and using Modio, select Open from a device. Click the device you see. Mass Effect 2 should pop up in that list. Select it, then select your Shepard's save file. When the following window pops up, click the File Contents tab at the top. You should see several .xbsav extensions. Right click one of them and extract them all to your desktop (or where ever you prefer).

5. Go to this website and register on it: legion.cal24.pl/me2/

6. Once you've registered at that site and logged in, click the My saves tab at the top of the page. The specific save file that you extracted to your desktop (or where ever) that you're going to want to upload here should be named Save_0001.xbsav. Go ahead and upload that save on this site.

7. You should now have one save listed at the top of that page with a string of options following it. The second to last option on that row is Morph head. Click that option.

8. Now new options show up. You want to click Export YAML. It should download a file to your computer called morphhead.yaml. Check this file in Notepad to make sure it's all in code that you can read (only read, not necessarily understand), otherwise the file is mucked up and you have to try this step again.

9. Once you have a decent YAML file to work with, upload it in one of two places, depending on the sex of your Commander Shepard -

Female Shepards will upload heremasseffecttools.99k.org/femshep_upload.php

Male Shepards will upload heremasseffecttools.99k.org/maleshep_upload.php

Remember to add your Shepard's name, because it's how you recover the face template code.

10. Lastly, you're going to want to get your Shepard's code, again in one of two places depending on the sex -

Female Shepards codes are heremasseffecttools.99k.org/femshep_code.php

Male Shepards codes are heremasseffecttools.99k.org/maleshep_code.php

All you need to do now is enter the name you typed when you uploaded your YAML file, and bam, instant Shepard readout and code for your Shepard. There will be a little tweaking required (as pointed out by the ***** asterisks), but it shouldn't be anywhere near as bad as trying to recreate your Shepard from scratch. It'll generally be little things like hairstyle, makeup color, or eye color. You know, the easy things to remember and fix. Everything without the ***** next to them should be correct, though.

And that's pretty much how I got my Shepard back without waiting for any sort of patch. You just enter that code you get at the bottom of that page into your custom character creation back on your 360 copy of Mass Effect 3 and do the necessary tweaking and you're done.

Doesn't work as well for everyone, so while I'm sorry it didn't work to your satisfaction, don't discount it as a solution for others.

I havent played the game, i bought it last week but im not playing until this is fixed. But because ive opened the box and entered the code inside, Theres no way i can get my money back at full price. that really sucks, because nowadays if a company that wants my money screws me over just to make a buck, I dont buy anything from them anymore, and generally tell everyone i know to avoid them. Thats how it normally works, if it was a faulty dvd for 8 pounds I wouldnt be so miffed, but £40 is a lot of dough. Some people say its not important its only a game, theyre right. So I wont buy any more games from these guys until they are in the bargain bin or on ebay, and certainly after ive read the forums re bugs. Kinda takes the magic away but no way am I buying a new game from them again.

I agree. One big sell on this series was being able to take YOUR character through the netire trilogy. THen this happens. Thats kind of a big issue and IMO a rookie mistake.

I have had ME 3 sicne it was released and refuse to play the story . I do try some multiplayer but i find it ridiculous that bioware hasnt fixed this yet , nor do they give us a time frame.

I also wont be preordering or buying any more of their games right away.

How big of a flash drive do you need to do this? I'm thinking of going out and buying a flash drive so I can do this, but would prefer to get the cheapest one necessary. Though I really shouldn't need to spend more money just to get my game to work.

This is just ridiculous. I'm sorry Bioware; but ever since dragon age 2 I've lost most of my hype about you. I know you guys still make quality stuff, but the care is gone. These problems should of been fixed within days. It's a major feature of the game, to carry over a save across the trilogy, and it doesn't work. How does that even get past QA, or were you hoping people would just deal with it and you wouldn't have to fix it?

I think the smallest you can find will be fine. I think the save is less than a MB. There's certainly no mention of a lower limit on the Xbox 360 support page.

The only thing is, don't buy a cheap one. It will only format if the flash drive passes a stress/speed test. San Disk tend to be the best but any major brand should be fine.

Playing through on PS3 while I wait for this to get fixed. Good thing I decided to refresh my memory by playing through ME2 again on PS3.

This really sucks Bioware.  I wanted to see my paragon play through (my Shepard since ME1) first and because of this stupid lack of attention to detail I can't.

Ok, so the first time i try to use the yaml file y download the windows file instead the yaml, and get the exact bald sheppard as your picture, also the import looks to be a standard too.

Soooooo, my fellow sufferers... I'm still not playing, and avoiding all spoilers. And I do intend to be among the last ones standing. Who's with me?

I sure wish they'd tell me if this can be fixed _at all_ in my case, given that my femShep's jaw, eyes, face shape and nose no longer exist in the ME3 CC (jeez, did I pick a lucky combination in ME1). Because I will wait forever if necessary, but checking this thread daily is getting rather depressing.

A new saved career is only a few hundred kB, so the smallest you can find should be fine. The 360 can be a little finicky with what flash drives it'll let you use at times, though. So while you shouldn't need to go all out on one, I also wouldn't buy one from the dollar store.

...so I'm a bit late to the party. I've stalled long enough by replaying ME1/2 and I've since ground to a halt waiting for this face thing to get fixed before starting ME3.

I'll be Mr Obvious #366,745 and ask: Knowing that the majority of folks will use the character import function, as they have done from ME1 to ME2, how is that function not tested prior to the release of ME3? How many breakdowns in production & playtesting have to occur for something like that to slip out the door with the final copy? And how is it that almost 2 weeks later there is no fix?

I guess after DA2 I shouldn't be surprised, but it's truly mind-boggling...

I think it will be fixed. If it isn't, they damn well better have the mother of all apology speeches ready. Regards the question of "when", it could be a month or so. If we're lucky, it could a couple of weeks if they've already got the patch ready for certification now.

Anyone remember the movie Vegas Vacation. Well this quote is exactly the attitude that Bioware gives us.

"You don't know when to quit, do ya Griswold?... Here's an idea: Why don't you give me the money you were gonna bet, then we'll go out back, I'll kick you in the nuts, and we'll call it a day!"

They already knew before release, they just chose to take their chances and hope for acceptance from their longest fans I guess.

Will I be able to make changes to my Shepard when I import?
You
will be given the option to alter the appearance of Shepard, and you
will be able to change class (i.e. Soldier to Adept) as well.
NOTE: Some
ME2 saves will not be able to import the face-file of your Shepard. You
will need to re-create the appearance when importing the file.

Count me in as well.  I for sure would like an explanation, like how they explained the day one DLC "controversy"  At this point that would help the most to be honest because its the lack of information that drives people mad.

I mean, I just read that the "controversy" was that the new squad member was already on disc and fortunately enough I have a background in computer science so that the moment I read that I could tell it was a total design choice depending on how involved they wanted the character to be.  Turns out I was right.

Obviously the mass majority of peopel didn't have that background and so what did they do? They shouted to BioWare.

Same scenario here more or less, and that's where communication would help!

But I remain hopeful that they can do something with the headmorphs.  Phoenix and Woodbyte's work seem to give some hope in that BioWare might be able to do something.  It just comes down to knowing the right "formula" possibly to make the translation.  If not then they should just communicate that to us so we can move on.

It has to be at least a 1GB.  I tried using an old 512MB, and it gave me an error message saying something along the lines of "the device to be formatted must be at least 1GB" yadda yadda yadda.

Of course, a 4GB flash drive is like $8, so...
