Also, this was brought up in discussions pre-release on the BSN. Some fans had noticed that imports were not loading correctly from early release copies. This has been on their radar for nigh over a month at this point.
It is not a huge issue to me (in comparison to the endings) since I can whip out my Shepherd's face in less than twenty minutes, since I've done it so many times. But its the lack of forethought in the process that irks me. While I do give a very hearty "Bravo" to the choice flags being carried over almost flawlessly in my game, I still am dumbfounded that they didn't test face importation. Its mind boggling.

But the lack of information (such as a statement about if the fix has gone to certification or not) at this point means I still haven't even started ME3 - and this is really making me feel like I will make sure I avoid purchasing any more Bioware or EA products in future.
There's really no excuse for not telling us at this point. Sorry, but there's not.

However, I don't think I could have played if I couldn't get my Shep as good as I did so I completely empathise with my fellow gamers.
As I and some others have already said, it's worth trying the community fix (see my signature for a link) to see if it works for you. It's not 100% but, in most cases, the facial structure seems to carry over just fine. You'll still have to tweak some things like hair, hair colour, eye colour, nose, complexion, etc - but the hard parts should come in fine with the code. Worth a shot.
Apart from that, I can only hope that the fix comes soon. Best of luck, keep the faith.

I'm sick of waiting but what if I start now only for a patch to appear the next day?
The Gibbed editor allows exporting and importing faces into save games.

When I tried to import him I got some bold dude. Lol. So I just chose default face again/
My FemShep was custom however, but I just made a new face for her

The only worry I have is that by amending the save game will potenially break a ME3 playthough later on. I would hate to get so far through the game and find I cant finish due to a broken save file. I guess my question to you guys is, is this method safe?

I will probably get a discounted copy of Skyrim or pre-order The Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition, instead.

Couldn't wait any longer so I started a new game a few days ago. I played through the beginning part of Mass Effect 2 and completely remade my character in the CC until it was an exact match. Copy and pasted the face code into Mass Effect 3, did a little bit of tweaking, and hey presto! I got a face. Oddly though, my FemShep actually looks BETTTER in ME3 o.O
any pics?
im gathering a collection of face codes i like the look of just incase they dont fix this....plus its how i got my ME2 femshep, found a good face and kept re-using it on all my femsheps (with changes obviously)
ME2:

ME3:

Looking at it now... they don't look like each other at all, really. It looks like my FemShep got some plastic surgery in the timegap between ME2 and ME3, haha. I have to say I prefer the Mass Effect 3 Regalina though.

Not perfect, but better. (I think)
743.Q9G.M17.F79.QDQ.66Q.1DA.611.F66.513.63B.135
maybe you can tweak her to your satisfaction.

I'm going to take a look at the Gibbed editor approach and mod a save game, as the other approaches do not give me back a Shep that I can recognise

Modifying the appearance data of a save file will not affect plot progression.

Hey all. I just wanted to say that the YAML method can work, you just need to tweak the hair color/ nose shape/ facial hair color/ and complexion. It appears some things got changed nonetheless and it might be impossible to get exactly the right shep, but here are my (hopeful) results:
Mass effect 2 (mass effect 1 looked exactly the same)
Mass effect 3
In the squad screen they look very similar!
Unfortunately, especially ingame it is obvious the eyes have been changed, but there simply is no setting that gives a better match. The old eye shape from ME2 just doesn't exist anymore.
ME2:
ME3:
As I've said before the YAML method can work quite well:
-I took the YAML code into ME2 and compared that to my imported Shep. I tweaked it until the two were exactly the same (complexion, hair color, nose shape and facial hair were the big issues).
-Then I took that code and entered it in ME3. What I got was slightly different (the hair color did not match up), so I tweaked it a little again, and you can see the end result above. No matter what, I couldn't get the same eyes.
It is not perfect, especially in-game, but in the squad screen, and more importantly, during cutscenes and conversations, they look similar enough for my liking. With all the talk about the ending going on, I have decided to take this Shepard and play the game. He is similar enough that I feel I am playing with 'my' Shepard.
Even if a patch comes, I think the result probably won't be any better than what I've already accomplished on my own.

This is getting old real fast. I been reading these posts for 10 days now and I can't take sitting back any longer. No news since the 9th come on already. I find it hard to believe that no one outside of the company (game reviewers) ran into this problem and reported it longer before hand. Yet many gave it the best or near the best scores. It's a real shame how this problem is being handled. Look at CDProjekt They give FREE updates to both Witcher games and change things with no problem long after release. I don't know what happened to Bioware but they lost all DLC sales from be and probebly future game purchases also.
Actually, I managed to get in contact with one of the Staff at the OXM (the UK Official Xbox360 Magazine) and he said they've covered this issue in one of there online blogs.
