I tried importing a face MADE in ME2, and even that didn't ****ing work!
No idea what your problem is... putting my ME2 facecode into ME3 worked perfectly fine.
NOT. <_<
This is beyond ridiculous.
Awesome. Now only the real ME fans, who're playing since the first game, do suffer from this issue! YaY!

Awesome analogy!
Now if Bioware could actually SEE and CONSIDER that analogy...
Or how about this analogy...
Imagine watching Alien and loving Sigourney Weaver as Ripley, and then seeing Aliens where she returns to fight the xenomorphs head on. And then watch her return in Alien3 where it's still Sigourney Weaver's voice, but they've replaced the actress with Bette Midler.
(That would have improved Alien 3 in that case, but you know what I mean).

Guyzengals, I have a suggestion:
I just tried again to use the method described here: http://fuckyeah-mass...s-face-into-me3
And it worked much better the second time!
The difference? I did NOT over-tweak my Shep in the ME3 face generator after pasting in the improvised ME2 face code.
See, the face in the face editor looks very different from the face in the game. If you change too much of the ME2 face code generated by The Method above, you will not be happy with your Shep in the game. The key for me was to TRUST this face code, except for obvious things like hair color, nose shape (I lucked out and had a distinctive one), and facial hair.
All the subtle things like cheek gaunt, mouth depth, etc. should be left alone until you at least try the Shep in-game for a while.
*****
Summary: After pasting in the improvised code, the face didn't look like my Shep in the face-generator closeup, but once in-game it turned out to be a pretty good facsimile (after tweaking the obvious stuff ONLY).
Disclaimer: I still agree the face generator in ME3 is bad (i.e., even if they fix the code import, your Shep won't look quite the same), and this import bug is inexcusable. But the key point is, you may be making it worse without realizing it (because of the difference between in-game Shep and the face-generator closeup).
If you're going to post that method at least warn the Xbox 360 users that they may be risking an account and/or console ban per the LIVE Terms of Use.

Then please, do share with us specifics on where you got your game, what region you live in, and what system you got it on. If you say 360 on release night in N. America I'm going to call you a liar or your using default ShepardDOCTOR CHA0TICA wrote...
Like I said, I had no problems at all with the import function.....
I got my copy on the 13th. I live in england, so its PAL, on the Xbox 360. I got it from Asda. Also, when I loaded up. I got a title update....does anyone know what that update did??
This is the process I used :
In Feb I started a completely new game on Mass Effect 1, I made a Custom Shepard, and I made a note of all slider positions so I could recreate him if I wanted to. I used my own method of counting the number of slider moves starting from far left (and counting from 1). I imported to Mass Effect 2, and I wanted to change his beard, so I selected to customize apperance, but that gave me the first pre-set, so using the references I made in ME1, I recreated my Shep, thus generating a unique Facecode. I then imported to Mass Effect 3, and it loaded my Shep's face perfectly. (Well, the graphics on Mass Effect 3 are completely different than what they are on Mass Effect 1....obviously!)
Heres the pic I took :

(Please excuse the ME1 pic, he'd been out on the razz with Garrus!

Where's Christian Bale when you need a quick and pointed comment?
If you didn't have to problem, great for you. But why are you constantly commenting on this thread about your fortune with a lot of angry and frustrated people?
I can understand the anger, and I post in here, so I can share what I did to get Shep to import properly..... I'm not posting to say " hey? whats the problem? mine imported so :P"
My method requires abit of patience, but it doesn't involve modding save files, which is a clear violation of XBL T&C's

Well having read your "method" it's clear. You haven't actually carried your Shepard from ME1. You've imported the save and completely rebuilt your Shepard. The issue is with people that simply imported their saves from ME1 into ME2 with no alterations. Also, in order to trial your "method" everyone here who's invested hundreds of hour into the game would have to start ME2 from scratch just to rebuild their faces, and people aren't willing to do that.

Still my custom Shep....he looks exactly the same in all 3 games (in 3 I gave him a goatee instead of stubble)
I can understand how people don't want to replay 2.... don't think I would either. Only reason I did restart from scratch on ME1 is because 3's release was imminent, and I had'nt played either 1 or 2 for ages, and I wanted the story and decisions I made to be fresh

Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting EA Customer support
The
experts have informed me that this might happen if the save game is
somehow corrupted. If you could try making a new save game from Mass
Effect 2 and import it this will most likely solve the issue.
Sincerely

For those of you having trouble understanding why this is a
problem...including Bioware.
Imagine going to your favorite steak place. In fact, one of the top steak
restaurants of the last 15 years. They've recently had a change in ownership
but the food is suppose to be just as good. Your hopes are very high.
You order your steak rare. You even splurge for the "special deluxe"
steak dinner since this is your favorite place. Then you notice the dinner no
longer comes with a standard baked potato. Instead, its "cheesy
southwest" potatoes. You think eh, might be okay. They are just trying to
appeal to a bigger audience is all.
Your steak comes. Its medium well. And the cheesy SW potatoes? They are okay at
first but quickly boring. This has never happened before. What do you do? Eat
it anyway? It's not what you ordered or expected but its "edible".
Then again, you paid a lot and this is/was one of the most respected restaurants
around.
You send it back. The waiter appears and says that they are "aware"
of the situation and working on it. You are disappointed but willing to wait.
2 hours go by. No steak. No waiter either. He hasn't stopped by at all to see
how you are doing or give you a status update. You notice others around you
also waiting, and also unable to flag anyone down. It seems they won't even
acknowledge any of you. You've already
paid...So what would you do?
Does this make sense now? This is how we feel, upset and disappointed. Would
you demand your money back? Would you ever go back to that restaurant? This is
the point we are at now. Even if your steak came now...it would no longer be
enough.
On the nose. If they actively engaged us with some technical mumbo jumbo even on how they *MIGHT* be trying, that would have my respect. Instead the fans the kicked off the franchise are the only ones stitting around.. waiting.. while all the new fans are already discussing the ending.

I don't ever recall saying the issue doesn't exist at all..... I've managed to get my Shep looking spot on by using a method that doesn't include mods/hacks or whatever. I'm simply trying to point out, that it is possible to import all the way through thats all....

This...
Figured there would be an update by now. I understand that patches take time and they want to patch a lot of stuff so they don't have to do a bunch of title updates. But this is a pretty big error and it we should at least be updated by now.

I'll turn on my good ol' translator, so ordinary people can understand Vahnfox a little bit better, okay?vahnfox wrote...
Translation: I got the same problem as you, complained and reveived a full refund - just sayin', ****es.I have since returned ME3 for a full refund from EA, and have no plans to purchase it again until this is resolved.
If "any other customer service" causes strong feelings of "displeasure" in Vahnfox with the only constant in this equation being Vahnfox himself...EA Support has been more ugly with me than any other customer service representative provider I have EVER EVER EVER have the displeasure of dealing with
...you might get the idea.
Translation: I will cause anyone who has to deal with me heart strokes because religious zealots are nothing compared to my righteous indignation.I happen to be an extremely cordial and understanding person.
Translation: I expect all future Bioware titles & DLCs plus my money back (with INTEREST, naturally). As a small gesture of assuagement I expect my own personal indentured customer service servant, but also... etc. When I called about my issues with Mass Effect 3 [...], instead of being assuaged or offered some free Bioware points, DLC, anything, I was told I could be given a full refund.
Translation: I'm smarter than Bioware. Instead of being happy that my complaints were heard and earned me a full refund, I tell them HOW I expect stress magnets like myself to be treated:For those of you who haven't taken Customer Service 101 (I have):
I got a slight feeling that in cases like Vahnfox, the only efficient and economically viable solution is to make sure that the company never has to deal with that kind of "cordial and understanding" people again. Ever.1) You NEVER offer the customer their money back immediately. First, you try to fix their problem. It makes them feel insulted if you don't even try.
All I wanna say is: Well acted, Bioware support!
Translation: First I demand an exception (full refund). Once I get my will, I start complaining about the EXCEPTION I asked for in the first place. Look at me! I really enjoy causing other humans stress, problems and financial malice! I'm Schadenfreude personified!2) Don't note in your FAQ that you don't offer refunds and then offer a refund. It is hypocritical, and it makes you look like a complete two-faced worm. People will stop trusting anything you say.
Having to deal with (psycho) vampires is an insult as well.3) BEFORE you offer a refund, you offer some kind of OTHER form of compensation.
Psychologically, when you say "Here is a refund right away" the customer is hearing "We don't need or want your money." It is an insult.
If it becomes clear that a customer derives (great) satisfaction from causing you the biggest amount of trauma, you better get rid of that monster on the other end of the line asap.
Full refund, done. In the long run it's for the better:
Vahnfox got his money back (yet still wants MOAR!) and is now free to cause ****storms at other companies.
It's like a psychological bio weapon... you can't defuse* it - all you can do is send it somewhere else to cause its mayhem.
*It's like showering a bully with money and hoping that this will cause him to actually stop harrassing...

This is really the part that pisses me off the most. It is the most loyal fans of the Mass effect series that Bioware seems to be showing it doesn't give two ****s about by not even trying to communicate any updates about this issue. Those who never even played Mass Effect until ME3 are utterly unaffected by this.
