Been avoiding coming on here....still no update on a fix?? I just wanna play as "my" Shepard, instead of the fugly person I was presented with =(

On another note, I've been keeping myself busy waiting for the fix, by doing this

Custom Forza car is awesome...at least you've got something to keep you busy. But you're kind of teasing yourself.

I don't ever recall saying the issue doesn't exist at all..... I've managed to get my Shep looking spot on by using a method that doesn't include mods/hacks or whatever. I'm simply trying to point out, that it is possible to import all the way through thats all....

Except, as has been pointed out, you didn't actually import the face - you rebuilt it in ME2, then imported that ME2 face into ME3.  In addition to that, by using some hacks, I managed to do a similar thing - and found that my Shepards still didn't import accurately, and could not be recreated in ME3.  For my male Shepard, even trying to recreate the face in ME2 couldn't be done completely, as the the closest eyes I can get are a slightly different shade.  Despite this, importing the face from ME1 to ME2 still works fine, with the eyes their original ME1 shade.

Cheers :)

I know :( I've been waiting for ME3 for ages..... I just can't play using Quasimodo's ugly cousin...seriously, it looks like someone's melted her face, and then beat the s*** out of her with an ugly-stick

True....and I appologize if I've upset anyone with my comments....
and, my custom Shep is actually not that hard to make.... I used the 1st preset, and only changed a few features....

Like I said, it worked that way for me, but I do know alot of players used noses/eyes/ears and eye colours that don't exist in ME3....

again, my way is 1 way to get around it, and I know people don't wanna playthrough 2 again :)

And I'm sorry.... over on my Facebook discussion has started to boil about the ending being atrocious, and what making me mad is that I HEAR BioWare is coming out to talk about the ending........ and if they do this BEFORE I can even START the game..... my anger only rises.

BioWare............................ I once considered you my brother. You took my money and betrayed me.

That doesn't work for everyone.  Quite a few people have tried importing Sheps that were made in 2, and they still don't go over correctly.

I have a couple I started in 2 with, and they all fail to import.

Meanwhile, I'll continue to try to make a difference instead of excuse someone's abuse of my custom.

Thanks.

Hey guys,

I am suffering from this issue as well. I created my Shepard in ME1, imported it without changes to ME2 and finally tried to import it in ME3. I guess you know what happened... Right... Nothing, but the import error.

I tried the Webtool for generating the code for my face, but the outcome was too far away from my Shepard. I even tried it with two monitors (left side ME2 Editor, right side ME3 Editor) to rebuild my Shepard, but still couldn't get close enough to it.

So there is no other way, but to play the Multiplayer... which is fun for about 1-2 rounds / day in my opinion.

Well, I guess that's nothing new for you all, but I just wanted to give you my report as well. I still have trust in Bioware for handling the problem.

Don't be too hard to Bioware's coders, the truly evil force behind everything is a big company with two letters in it... EArrrrgh, oh sorry some kind of allergy causing me to write strange things.

Please Bioware give us back our Shepards and hang on it!

EA Customer Support:

Dear Customer,

Thank you for contacting EA Customer support

The
experts have informed me that this might happen if the save game is
somehow corrupted. If you could try making a new save game from Mass
Effect 2 and import it this will most likely solve the issue.

Sincerely

EA Customer Support

Obvoiusly EA Staff live in some coccoon hidden from reality...

I also called customer service in the netherlands. There was no way they could help me. Al they did is give me 2 discount code's i could use in the origin store for a discount in buying other games....

This is Absurd! as this will not be solved i will never ever again buy a game from EA/Bioware.

Take Care

DOCTOR CHA0TICA, I do believe you didn't mean to upset anyone; however, let me tell you that even recreating a whole new character in ME2 and then importing it into ME3 you'll simply get a similar clone [your ME3 Shepard clearly has wider eyes than his ME2 counterpart] - and "similar", despite the number of intensifiers you might place before the adjective, is different from "identical".

I know this may sound unreasonable but it's a matter of principle: I refuse to buy a game deprived of an essential feature I had been promised in the first place. I'd frankly feel defrauded. And no, racking my brains in order to find a temporary fix doesn't seem fair either, given the considerable amount of money required to buy the game.

Hmmm.. I have also got this issue. :(

I had accidentally deleted my ME1 save file a while ago so I thought I would play through them again, I managed to make my Shepard look pretty much how she was.

I've just finished playing through ME1 and ME2.. received ME3 today and literally just went to start it now... I can't start playing it until I have my proper character, I cannot recreate her, she looks ridiculous when I try.

Looks like I'll have to wait as well, I haven't tried importing my male Shepard (Original playthroughs) as I want to finish my female Shepard, also I doubt that it would work as I did the same thing with him too, didn't modify in ME2.

Really REALLY hoping they will fix this, I see Mass Effect more as a story than a game so the details some would say are insignificant I find important.

You know, me and my friend have both played Mass Effect since the very beginning. So when ME3 came out he bought it instantly, but I had to wait since I'm strapped for cash this month. Funny how things worked out for me in the end... That said.

This is beyond ridiculous! From the get go, the main selling point of the series was that you could import your damn character from game to game and play as the same Shepard for three games. To mess that up is inexcusable! I haven't read all 200+ pages of this topic, but I agree with those who say that Bioware was well aware of this bug before the game shipped out. They just didn't care. Now I'm still more optimistic than some of you, I think this will be fixed, but it's clear that this is not any kind of priority for Bioware. So this will probably be fixed along with any other bugs when they release a patch. Until then, I'm not buying this PoS.

I was able to make my me1 face come into 3 pretty easily - I didn't mind the remake since face construction is so much better now anyways :/

The one bit that really gets me is that they took out some of the face options from both mass effect 1 and 2.
Where was this guy during the development meetings:

It just seems like common sense. Sure they have a slightly different facial animation system but the parts that are still in the game have pretty similar looks to the old parts, so it couldn't have been much of a stretch to put all of them in.

Maybe the naysayers fears were right, the developers didn't have enough time to look at the details because of EA's "No games without multiplayer" policy.

That probably wasn't the cause...but it doesn't half make you suspicious.

Apparently, they said on day one that they were working on a fix for the import issue... How did I miss this? That was March 6th and no update since the 9th on this thread.

Hey, Chris, we know you said you were listening but could you please just update the post to tell us where the "fix" stands or if it's even possible?

Good find.

I'm starting to feel like I'm listening to a broken record a little now: "Dev's aware of the issue" ""We're aware of the issue""

Something's telling me awareness isn't the issue. This is a time vs. ability gig now. They're either knee deep in code trying to figure out where they went wrong, or they're knee deep in recoding how the face imports. Then again, the alternative is that they're knee deep in PR ball****...

I found my Shep to look fine in-game...considering 3 is built on an entirely different game engine than 1....plus, each photo is taken at a different angle...I noticed from 1-2, there where subtle changes between my ME1 Shep and ME2 Shep. Again, a different game engine.

And, I did make some changes to my Shep....

Like I said before, I see that many players feel pi55ed off about it, and I would too....I don't see how it missed QA, and how the game was released like it.  Again, if   I annoyed anyone, I appologize.

Yeah, and even that's only for the error message issue.  For the missing/altered assets (same face code, different faces), they haven't even said that at the dev level.

I've had a CSR say "I acknowledge your concern."  But that's a long way from a dev saying "Yes, we agree that this is a defect."  They haven't said that yet.
