Heh, interesting...people knew that ME2 botched the face code on imported characters, I remember seeing it mentioned on a face database site. If that had been fixed back then, this would be easy, now they have to figure out how to fix one step later without fixing the actual problem since they can't assume people will replay ME2's opening to get the real code. I love when laziness comes back to bite people, it tickles me :)

That said, I was one of the users affected by this problem, and had to go through all the calculations with Gibbed to get the real code, that doesn't tickle me :(

P.S. Please fix the problem in ME2 as well :P

This video can help too. It shows in detail the whole process of creating and importing a character through all 3 games, also showing how different are faces with the same facecode in ME2 and ME3.

Bioware

I will not play ME3 .
I want to finish the campaign using MY SHEPARD.

I think I'm going to have to go back and fire up ME1 on my PC and recreate my Male Shep and write down exactly how many clicks on the sliders I made. I'll then recreate him in ME2 and get an ME2 face code for ME3. I thankfully had a text file with the instructions for my FemShep since the ME1 days and used it in ME2 to get a new code for ME3.

For the life of me, I can't believe that the face importer for ME3 was screwed up when during the hype-train of this game one feature they highlighted was being able to play YOUR version of Shepard.

I am a bit surprised some people are still hoping for a fix from bioware at this point.

I mean it's impossible that they didn't know about the issue before releasing the game...which means that either they didn't care or they didn't know how to fix it....or both.

They didn't update since more than 10 days now and all they did is saying they understood the problem and directed everyone to a half working fix made by someone else.

^ Hoping is for free so I guess that's why there are a lot of people waiting on a patch for the face-import problem.

I for one do hope for a patch but I am not sitting idly while I wait. That's why I'm going to spend time this weekend with the ME1 & ME2 face creator and see how that works out before I try the gibbed editor.

*pokes head back into thread*

Dear Chris (and other Bioware peeps who might just happen to be checking up on the thread).

Today is one of the first days in a while that I have free time to play games, so if a patch just happened to show up sometime before 5 PM GMT, you would make me a very happy man.

This is ridiculous! I can understand if a fix for this may take time, weeks or maybe even months, but what i cant understand is how there can be so little information. Sure maybe they cant tell us anything about how far along a fix is, but too not even confirm if they are going to fix it. its been almost 2 weeks and we havnt even been told what they intend too do. Really at this point I just want too know if there's any point in holding off playing, and untill there is confirmation that there will not be a fix too this issue i'll continue to wait. But everyday without some kind of communication from bioware is just another tick against how little I will trust any future games. Its already too late for them too make me ever pre-order or first day purchase thier products from now on, but I may very well avoid all bioware products if this issue is forgotten and never resolved. So much for all the dlc and mass effect related products I would have been willing too purchase in the future because honestly, I dont feel like giving one cent too this shadow of what used too be such a well respected and loved company.

Y'know any gaming company that really cared about it's fanbase would've said something by now.  BioWare are sadly just doing themselves more and more damage by remaining silent.

We're off to a good start, but I think we need to shift gears.

Among other things, I think it would be useful if there was a separate thread dedicated to the "same face code, different faces" issue, as distinct from the import error message issue.  There's a lot of understandable confusion over whether they're even different things or not, whether Bioware has said they're both going to be fixed or not, etc.

I started a thread dedicated to that quite a few days ago:

social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/323/index/9739936/1#10377115

I've been posting in this thread because, going just by the subject line, this problem falls under "issue importing faces."  And since it's getting a lot more views, I thought it would help get the word out or get Bioware to see it.

But from what Bioware has said, that really isn't the topic of this thread, since the fix they've said they're working on is for faces created in ME1 or imported from ME2 NG+.  Those are the ones that get an actual error message.  But the "same code, different faces" issue can happen even if you don't get an error message.

With the tendency of those two issues to be confused in this thread, it's easier for people to take a quick look and say, "Oh, Bioware already said they're fixing that, just be patient." When in fact, they haven't.  If there was a big thread on just that issue, it would be clearer whether Bioware had responded to it at all, and if so, exactly what they were responding to.  Even if they just closed it and said, "We've already stated that we're going to fix that in Priestly's thread," that would clarify things.

So, if you've posted about that issue here, you might consider posting in strictly "same code, different faces" thread as well.  Personally I'd love to see a lot of comparison images from other people, preferably in-game shots.  Though, I realize those can be a pain to put together.

OK, actually they said they're "investigating fixes."  But that's still more than they've said for the "impossible to recreate your ME2 appearance" issue.

Just looked at the #Holdtheline tags, they're all regarding the uproar about the ending...we need to think of another tag or we're going to get caught in that malarky
