Is this thread only about this issues from importing a character from me1 -> me2 -> me3? Because I'm on the PS3 version and I'm importing my character from ME2 -> ME3 and my ME3 Shepard looks completely different from my ME2 Shepard. Is this a different issue?

Well, I'm not sure if this thread is officially about both issues, but some here have certainly been reporting that issue.  However, the ME1 -> ME2 -> ME3 face issue is the only one that Bioware have officially acknowledged here.

I think I'm going to have to go back and fire up ME1 on my PC and recreate my Male Shep and write down exactly how many clicks on the sliders I made. I'll then recreate him in ME2 and get an ME2 face code for ME3. I thankfully had a text file with the instructions for my FemShep since the ME1 days and used it in ME2 to get a new code for ME3.

Unfortunately, there's no guarantee even doing this means you end up with the same Shepard.  From my attempts to recreate my Shepard, some of the slider positions have different effects than they do in ME2, and some options in ME1 and ME2 are simply not present in ME3 (as an example, my ManShep has very thin lips, but, even making lips as thin as possible in the ME3 face creator, they are significantly thicker than the lips on my ManShep in ME1/ME2).

I am a bit surprised some people are still hoping for a fix from bioware at this point.

I mean it's impossible that they didn't know about the issue before releasing the game...which means that either they didn't care or they didn't know how to fix it....or both.

They didn't update since more than 10 days now and all they did is saying they understood the problem and directed everyone to a half working fix made by someone else.

Even if they were to actually turn around and say that they can't or won't fix this, at least it would be an answer.  We, as their customers, could then make a decision as to whether it's worth playing this game in its current state, or returning it/selling it as unused/whatever.  This deafening silence from them actually makes it seem like they don't even give enough of a crap about us to even let us know they're not going to fix our problem.

It would not surprise me if the patch to fix this problem is released along with the very first DLC. This way they would be able to avoid the file size restrictions put in place by Microsoft for standalone updates.

I’ve given up what little hope I had this issue will be resolved.

As someone who has bought each of the three Mass Effect games on release and at full price, I’m seriously disappointed by Bioware.

I’ve started ME3 twice already with different characters and had to stop both times because it just looks so wrong.

It’s ironic that as a long-time fan of the franchise I’m one of the few people that bought the game on release who still can’t contribute to the heated discussions on how the story ends.

Last night after completely failing for two hours to get the suggested fan fix to work (all face values kept coming out at 16) , I spent an hour recreating my Shepherd using photographs taken from ME2.

The way I’m feeling now, I’m completely sick of the game and the franchise. I’ll play through to the finish once and flog it off while it’s still worth something.

This has killed any enthusiasm for what was once one of my most eagerly-awaited 2012 releases and I will treat any sequels with suspicion.

I just hope the Firaxis XCOM reboot lives up to my expectations.

I know how you feel. For five years I've known my Shepard. Now not only can I not finish my story, but I have to put up with spoilers, and people telling me my problem is trivial.

This is how Bioware rewards 5 years of loyalty.

Yeah, it's March 21st now. Either give us another update, or tell us you're not gonna fix this. Stop with the BS bioware...

If we don't start voting with our wallets, this kinda **** will never change.

I detect a big problem here:
Anyone who already bought/pre-ordered the game, has given up ALL the voting power.

When I look at this kind of business practice,  and EA trying to justify it because they say it will affect less than 15% of their playerbase, it just makes this issue with Mass Effect 3 seem like such small potatoes to them, and of course EA controls Bioware.

In Germany there is a proverb for that, literal translation goes "the right hand doesn't know anymore what the left hand is doing"... pretty much sums this situation up, doesn't it?

Anecdote: One day I found a bug in a little indie game "Space Pirates and Zombies". I thought I'd give it a try and write about it in their official forums. The very next day I couldn't believe my eyes, because there was an update on Steam - obviously one of the (2?) developers had read my post and written a fix over night.

Bioware (especially after the merger with EA) is an industry giant now.
My guesstimate is that they layed off/transferred 95% of the development team, while the rest (who's responsible for writing patches) is receiving some well-deserved vacation after crunch time.

After all, who's to say that EA won't pull the plug on the patch because it wouldn't be 'finacially viable'?

If history is any indicator of the things to come, pretty much ALL Bioware games have received 2-3 patches (Mass Effect 1 & 2 were patched to v1.02).
I'm joyfully awaiting paid-for-patches that have to be purchased like DLC.

It's kinda funny, though:
Vast masses of video game players evidently like being paying beta testers.
On the other hand it's a real shame that we [i.e. the gamers] have no independent games journalism to speak of... just try to read that thinly veiled adv- I mean review on IGN... it's deplorable.

Yeah, this, and the ending debacle has just made me completely not care about ME3.

Read the spoilers, can't re-create my Shep(s) no matter how much work I do. Haven't even gotten to play the game yet. Starting to just have no desire to play it. Been re-enjoying ME1 and 2, though.

I can see why they covered this up and lied about it, though. If I had known this didn't work before I bought it, I wouldn't have purchased it.

It's insulting and disrespectful as hell to make one half-hearted statement, and not a word for 12 days.  Game's been out for over two weeks, and it's been almost two weeks since they've even ACKNOWLEDGED our problem.  Even more disrespectful is having the gall to direct us to a fan fix that doesn't even work for most of us.

I mean, really, Bioware?  Really?  A wizard should know better.

If you aren't going to fix it, just say so.

This is seriously THE worst customer interaction I've ever seen from a developer.

I'm used to much better treatment.  Hell, Troika, after they were SHUT DOWN AND OUT OF BUSINESS, still PUT OUT ANOTHER PATCH FOR BLOODLINES ON THEIR OWN TIME, UNPAID.

You guys can't even give a bloody UPDATE ON ONE.

Disappointed doesn't even begin to cover it.

I'm with ya... I'm near at the end of my rope being disgusted with this whole thing. After being a pretty faithful customer and buying their stuff new.... if this isn't fixed and made up to me, then frell 'em... I'll buy their games used.

All I ask is some regular updates to know if they're working on it at all. If we'd gotten something say they were still working on it at all... they could even say they were working on it, but it wasn't likely... anything I wouldn't be as disappointed as I am.

Instead it's... we go in, they tell us after we've dropped the money that it's broke and are looking in to it and then nothing.

I'm thinking of just going in, making a new face, but I feel like I'll be more bitter with seeing the new face continually reminding me of the broken promise and if I do up and make a new face and then two days later... since we're not getting any information or ETA, I get 13 hours in and finally the patch shows up just to ****** me off some more.

BioWare.....

^ DONT MAKE A NEW CHARACTER! the more people do that the more bioware is going to think that people no longer care and that its ok if the patch isnt released

you have to continue not playing it so as to get your message across, or better yet boycott buying any games to do with EA its their fault since they forced bioware to work on day 1 DLC and multiplayer like greedy capitolists rather than working to make the game actually playable for loyal fans

Good luck with that. RIght now, Casey is probably the least contactable person in the company. He is the face people associate with Mass Effect development, makes him an immediate target for anyone who is disgruntled.

Also, pointed and negative responses from people within BioWare but not part of the ME Team. If you're going to contact anyone about the problems we're having, make sure they're clearly part of the ME Team. Having said that NuclearFossil is not part of the ME Team...

The most disturbing thing to me about this problem is the lack of press from the major gaming media outlets we're getting in comparison to the ending controversy (which I can't even take part in because I refuse to do an initial play through with anyone other than my original Shepard). This thread is at 216 pages and 80,000+ views and still no word from bioware for 2 weeks or any further press coverage? ridiculous and disgusting. I like the media/bioware email carpetbomb idea, you can count on my support.

^ have you tried contacting them yourself through Twitter, email, phone
whatever? Also you would need to contact certain types of press,
organisations that are not going to be swayed by the deep pockects and
influence of high tier companies like Bioware/EA

also whats the capertbomb idea?

I just recently replayed ME 1 and 2 to get the full ME 3 experience, only to be severely disappointed when it said i couldnt import my characters face, and the fact that the ending was just two different colors, wait, three. Your choices from ME 1 and 2 have ero effect on the outcome of the reaper war, that is disgusting.

QFT

They are stalling hoping that consumers won't return their games within 14 days after purchase. Bioware's quality assurance is severely lacking. Still waiting for patches for DA:O but won't discuss that here.

I know I'm not buying the game until you guys are all happy again, so thanks for the warnings at least it helped out one fo your fellow gamers.

Its got more people, and its more popular, mostly because of the 'are games art?' question.

Not that EA or Bioware care about ANY of us.
