Don't have much faith left in Bioware at the moment, if they screwed up Dragon Age 3 as well somehow.
Wouldn't be hard considering they screwed up Dragon Age 2 so badly.

If the face bug is truly, as Chris says, a "top priority concern", well, I'd really hate to see how they treat "low priority concerns".

just thought I'd share my 2 cents...
Like most of you I've run into the same problem... I've had my beautiful redhead female Shepard* since ME1, raised her from a pupp so to speak. Together we faced and defeated Saren and the Collectors, but just as I was about to take on the Reapers, the game said "No dice" and failed to import my Shep's face.
At first I thought I'd wait for the devs to fix this, but then I came to realize that they probably won't be able to fix it in the most precise sense of the word. Having toyed with the facial settings in both ME2 and ME3, I got the impression that the differences were indeed quite substantial and even the code below didn't give me the exact same Shep I had spent so many hours with in the past -- after pasting the code into ME3, the hair and eyebrow color was off and needed adjustment, which was easy to fix, but the face still looked kinda different (my Shep seems to have gained a few pounds -- which may be intentional though, hence Anderson's quip about her "getting round around the edges"). Also the lighting in the face preview screen is kinda low, my Shep looked like she had spent a few weeks in Equatorial Africa, but then in the game it seemed like she actually should spend a few weeks there, her skin was really quite pale.
At any rate, my guess is the devs, while adding to and adjusting the looks of the characters, also took some features away -- like the scars -- which is why even some ME2 codes don't give you the exact same looks of your Shep's face. I can understand why they changed the looks of the characters but the ability to carry over your character was one of the series' touted features and it's unfortunate that people who really just do what they were expected to do are faced with such a problem.
I expect that even if they come up with a fix, it won't work fully for everyone and many people will still have to make tweaks to make Shepard really look like their own.
At least the fanbase offered a helping hand and provided tools to extract the face code from saved games. To me, that really proved indispensable in getting my Shep's face back so I could actually enjoy the game.

Why would he . . . his post was regarding issues fans had with the end of the game, not break / fix game functions.
People, IT TAKES TIME to create patches. This fix is not going to drop 2 weeks after game release. I wouldn't be surprise if the first major patch didn't hit until mid April.

So if your waiting to play it so you can use your own Shepard it may be months. I really don't see how the heck they even thought this was going to be o.k. They touted the fact that you could use the same character you made all the way through and then did things that made it not possible. Just insanely stupid.

I'm ready to believe this just because I know that fixing face problem is not just about program code, but about changing all those face meshes to proper condition that would be equal to those in ME2. If they really do this, I'll be glad to wait to finally have right face in ME3.
But anyway please at least some information about progress of their work! Something at least! Don't remain that silent, Bioware!

To clarify, I am on PS3 so I am going basically straight from ME2 to ME3 and my face is completely different.
These are screens I captured from the PC version of ME2 and the ME3 demo. When creating my ME2 character on PS3, I copied the code from the PC version of ME2. So it should have transferred to ME3 with no issues, at least according to Bioware.
ME2

ME3 demo

Again, I used the demo because I don't have the full version of ME3 on PC, but the face was imported the same on the PS3 version. The nose is pretty much the only thing it got right. And I spent over an hour last night trying to make it look the same and couldn't do it. I did get the hair to kinda/sorta match though it's not exactly the way it was in ME2.
After fiddling with it, I decided to just go ahead and play but it just didn't feel right having FemShep's voice coming out of a different face. It's just not what I'm used to so it was taking me out of the experience completely, and as I said earlier, was making me kind of angry while playing it.
Yeah, until this is fixed, or I can figure out how to make my ME3 Shepard look the same (at least reasonably so) as my ME2 Shepard, I'm gonna play Tales of Graces f instead. I just can't play with a different Shepard. I just can't.

Exactly. As this is about people being able to START the last part of their journey, it should have priority and there should be some update on the progress, or if anyone's even working on it. All we have now is that three days after game start they said they're looking into it.
It's the silence that stinks.

Did you even read the article. No mention of face import bug at all. All he talked about is how is feelings got hurt when the fans didn't like the ending. But then he realized he already had our money and it didn't matter what we think.
Also I love how he mentions the reviewers and blogers loved the game and the ending so the fans should too. We all know you pay for good reviews. How dumb do you think we are.
And doesn't seeing the picture of this guy in the article make you want to slap his smug face.

Exactly the same feelings here. It's like I'm playing with an imposter. After every conversation I go back to tinkering with the face code for two hours because it drives me mad not to have my Shepard.
I just told a friend that "I want the first time to be with the real one."
I don't want to experience the game for the first time with a Shepard I have no connection to. It just ruins what's left to enjoy.

My guess is that they are aware that they haven't updated us in a while, and thus want to make the next bit of communication to us count. For example, you can imagine if the next update was vague, hence I believe they are trying to construct something concrete.
