Methinks YOU did.

Show me where in there he comments on the face import issues.

No, wait, I'll save you the trouble.

HE DOES NOT ADDRESS IT AT ALL.

Why would he . . . his post was regarding issues fans had with the end of the game, not break / fix game functions.

People, IT TAKES TIME to create patches.  This fix is not going to drop 2 weeks after game release.  I wouldn't be surprise if the first major patch didn't hit until mid April.

So why would you post a link about the ending in a topic about the face import bug in response to someone talking about the face import bug?

You're the one who linked that giant mess of PR in response to someone saying nothing had been said about the face import issue.

Yeah, it does take time.  They knew about this issue prior to release.  They could have, and should have been working on it in advance OF release.

For something that's supposedly a "top priority concern", they're not addressing it AT ALL.  If they don't fix this until mid April, they can kiss a lot of people's money goodbye, and deservedly so.

If they leave a glaring problem like this, for a month and a half, then they deserve to be cast aside.  I certainly would never again support a developer who is so capricious.  If this is what Bioware has become, then they don't deserve support, money, or trust from the gaming public.

There's plenty of developers who don't treat their fans and customers like this.  Valve, Bethesda, and many more.

I would be happy just to even see the ending of the game. Its been two weeks since I purchased it and no word for those of us who have been unable to import our Shepards from ME1 due to the face import error. I would appreciate it if Bioware would fix the beginning of their game before worrying about the end.

You seriously need to play the game through to the end before you comment.  It really, really is that bad.  I just finished two days ago amist all the controversy and kept telling myself "it can't be that bad".  Sadly, I was just plain wrong ....  it really is.

I don't think you understood the point of my post.  I am not doing my first play through of the game until they fix the issue which prevents Shepards created in the first game from importing properly.  This is a game breaking issue and in my opinion a more serious issue that should be addressed first.  I would love to join in the discussion of whether the endinig of the game is bad or not but alas Bioware shipped a broken product for those who have been playing since ME1.

While the face import thing is an irritant, it is not a deal breaker.  Seriously, it takes all of 2 minutes to get your character looking essentially like you want it.  If it helps, assume any variations are due to aging - years have passed since ME1 in the story.

Son, my Shepard has been savinig the galaxy before your Shepard was even born

I find the lack of an update now disturbing. And I am usually a pretty patient guy. But not this long after a game's release with only a couple of vague updates. No sir-ree.

My guess is that they are aware that they haven't updated us in a while, and thus want to make the next bit of communication to us count. For example, you can imagine if the next update was vague, hence I believe they are trying to construct something concrete.

If the next update isn't a patch, I bet you it will be just as vague and useless as the last one.

The game DOESN'T WORK. Please fix it! If you're in a race and your car is busted you should get that thing running again before you start planning out your moves on the final lap!

You bring up a good point. How can people complain about the ending when you can't even play it with your old Shepard? How did they even get that far? :P

I seriously can't imagine playing this game without my Shepard. :(

Ok, I have what I hope is some good news.

We have fixed the issue of faces not correctly importing into Mass Effect 3. It will be included as part of the next Mass Effect 3 patch.

The not completely good news is that I do not yet have a confirmed date for when the patch will be available. A new patch gets heavily tested by BioWare, EA, Microsoft and Sony before it can be released to the public. We all want to be sure that it fixes the issues it is supposed to fix and doesn't start any new issues (this is called testing or certification testing ). If a patch fails during testing, it is sent back, fixed again and retested until it passes. Then it is released to gamers. Until we know that the patch has passed certification testing, I don't want to give even a rough idea of the date, to prevent disappointment should it need further testing.

So I'm sorry I don't have the full answer you all want and are waiting for yet. When I can give you the date when the patch will be available I will.

I'm editing the OP to reflect this info as well.

After fiddling with it, I decided to just go ahead and play but it just didn't feel right having FemShep's voice coming out of a different face. It's just not what I'm used to so it was taking me out of the experience completely, and as I said earlier, was making me kind of angry while playing it.

Exactly the same feelings here. It's like I'm playing with an imposter. After every conversation I go back to tinkering with the face code for two hours because it drives me mad not to have my Shepard.

I just told a friend that "I want the first time to be with the real one."

I don't want to experience the game for the first time with a Shepard I have no connection to. It just ruins what's left to enjoy.

After several playthroughs of ME2 with my ME1 imported Shepard, I went
out to Youtube to see some of the other ending scenarios, because I
could never play through enough times to see all of them on my own.  And
I had a hard time even watching those, because hearing Shepards voice
coming out of a face that wasn't the one I had played with for hundreds
of hours was wrong.

I did 3 playthroughs of ME1 witht the same
Shepard, and 3 playthroughs of ME2 with that same Shepard.  He is the
only Shepard I know.

What'd I'd really like to ask here is this:  When you say "Fixed", do you mean "the error message doesn't appear anymore", or "Your Shepard will look like they did in ME1 and 2"?

It's an important distinction.  I've seen the Shepards that "successfully" imported from 2 to 3, (or the ones that were done via the workaround) and some are "sort of similar", others are way off, but none really look like they used to.

Is this what we should be expecting, or should we be expecting the sort of import we had in ME2?  That is to say, hit "import", be greeted by face you absolutely recognize?

I already started playing but it's good to know it's going to be fixed! Good thing too since only one character could be imported for me.

Is this only going to fix the ME1->ME2->ME3 problem, or will it also fix the problem with those of us on PS3 who are not getting our ME3 Shepard to look like our ME2 Shepard? I posted my comparison photos previously.

Thanks for any info. :)

Thanks Chris!  If you're able, can you please list exactly what is to be fixed in this patch?  For example, is this only going to fix the error returned when ME3 doesn't read the ME2 save file or will this give us the ability to make our Shepards look just like they did in ME2 (as there seem to be missing assets between the two)?  Anything to change the colors back to ME2's colors?

Any further info is appreciated!

At least they have something resembling a fix! To know that the issue has been identified and a fix is in the certification testing stage is a step forward. Finally some good news!

Finally!!!! Oh my god thank you Chris! It's been a long two weeks and will continue until I can play the game but at least it has been acknowledged. I mean I went out and bought and have began reading the mass effect novels cause I don't have anything better to do haha!
