Thanks, that is good news.  I'm not concerned with ETAs myself.

But to clarify, does the fix only cover faces that were getting an error message? Or does it also apply to faces that did not get an error, but looked drastically different from ME2, even with the same face code? If not, are there plans to look into that also?

(Examples in this thread: social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/323/index/9739936/)

Although it's still a bummer having to wait, it's nice to have some solid info. Thanks Chris.

Ok, I have what I hope is some good news.

We have fixed the issue of faces not correctly importing into Mass Effect 3. It will be included as part of the next Mass Effect 3 patch.

The not completely good news is that I do not yet have a confirmed date for when the patch will be available. A new patch gets heavily tested by BioWare, EA, Microsoft and Sony before it can be released to the public. We all want to be sure that it fixes the issues it is supposed to fix and doesn't start any new issues (this is called testing or certification testing ). If a patch fails during testing, it is sent back, fixed again and retested until it passes. Then it is released to gamers. Until we know that the patch has passed certification testing, I don't want to give even a rough idea of the date, to prevent disappointment should it need further testing.

So I'm sorry I don't have the full answer you all want and are waiting for yet. When I can give you the date when the patch will be available I will.

I'm editing the OP to reflect this info as well.

Thanks you very much for the update. The fact that I know eventually a fix is coming puts me and I’m sure many others at ease.

At last!!!  An update.  Thank you.  I now know that, at some point, I will get to play this game with my Shepards, even if it's somewhat vague as to when, precisely that will be.  This means I will forget about getting a refund, and simply allow the game to lie fallow and either play multiplayer or play other things until the next patch.  Maybe, at some point, I might even get to see this fabled abysmal ending to the game, unless you guys decide to make a major patch that changes it before then.

No offense to console gamers, but can't we PC gamers get the patch earlier? There's really no hassle when it comes to releasing patches for the PC. And on EA's own program. No payments, no mess at all, really. PC patches are able to come out much more frequently due to things like this.

I'm afraid they have to be fair to everyone. At least we know next patch will fix it. I hope so.

Yeah I guess you're right. I'm just so jumpy to finally get this fixed. I haven't played more than an hour because I just couldn't do it without my Shepard.

Agreed.

But it can't be too hard to update the first post little more often, say 2 times a week perhaps? ;)
Even it is just we are still working on the issue etc.

To add to what I asked:

What I think would finally quiet this thread down, and really bolster the fans here would be if you guys could toss up a couple screenshots, comparing your ME1/2 Shepards with the fixed import into ME3.

I think even more than a release date, people are wanting to know that the fix *really* fixes things, and doesn't just approximate, or bring in something "sort of close enough".

Luckily for me, I redid my main Shepard's face in ME2, so this wasn't a big problem for my first playtrhough. It is very, very good to know that when I finally get around to my other, ME1 original characters, there won't be any issues importing them. Thanks for the update Chris!

Excellent idea...why didn't I think of that!

I myself would be interested to see how this ME2 code looks with the fix:

Finally news on issue. Hopefully he will keep us informed and in return we will remain calm. Over the past week most of our complaints have been about being left in the dark. This was all we wanted to know and he finally did it. Just hope the complete fix doesn't take too long and this is the start of weekly news on the issue.

I shall not ask any further questions and instead just thank TPTB for having mercy and speaking up. It's all we wanted, and this reply is even more than we expected. Thank you.

I do, however, like to express the hope that's it's really going to fix the actual issue, which is NOT the code not being properly transferred, but the facial features having been changed and removed, which makes it impossible to recreate the face even with the right code.

This is actually very much appreciated.

Any update whatsoever... even if something needs to be rescheduled due to a fail in testing.. or anything.. just knowing that it's being addressed helps very much to alleviate the feeling that we're not being helped.

Thanks very much again for the update.
