While I appreciate the news...your wording could use some help. I've been part of the Game forum world for quite sometime now and I've come to respect the "We have something but have no idea when its coming" as a nice way of saying "Here's hoping". It doesn't build the best of coinfidence.
That, for now, will have to be seen if true. I appreciate the updated word. Thank you for acknowledging that we still have an issue here. Means we're not completely in the dark and alone.
I do want to play your game after all

Ok, I have what I hope is some good news.
We have fixed the issue of faces not correctly importing into Mass Effect 3. It will be included as part of the next Mass Effect 3 patch.
The not completely good news is that I do not yet have a confirmed date for when the patch will be available. A new patch gets heavily tested by BioWare, EA, Microsoft and Sony before it can be released to the public. We all want to be sure that it fixes the issues it is supposed to fix and doesn't start any new issues (this is called testing or certification testing ). If a patch fails during testing, it is sent back, fixed again and retested until it passes. Then it is released to gamers. Until we know that the patch has passed certification testing, I don't want to give even a rough idea of the date, to prevent disappointment should it need further testing.
So I'm sorry I don't have the full answer you all want and are waiting for yet. When I can give you the date when the patch will be available I will.
I'm editing the OP to reflect this info as well.
Time to get loud, and spill some drinks on the Citadel.

Bioware 2012; We omitted the core feature; We hope you didn't notice.
It was noted.
This company has no integrity anymore, which is a shame because the talent is *very* gifted. Watch the patch be part of a pay-to-play DLC (several of which they should be giving ME1 + ME2 owners for free). Absent a serious and dedicated effort to recompense the fans knowingly defrauded, I cannot subsidize this business style.

I'm not going to thank Bioware for giving me a status update a week late. That kind of customer service is unacceptable in any other business or industry. I'm also not going to thank Bioware for a patch for something that should never have been broken in the first place. Everything is not suddenly okay.
Finally delivering a working product weeks late doesn't change the fact that it didn't work, and that it was weeks late. Its gonna take more than that to win me back as a customer. So no, I'm not going to dance around and thank you.

Wednesday, March 21, no news, no updates, nothing. Not even a bit of hope or information. Is this really that funny? I stopped playing and wait for fix to come, but every day there's just nothing.
Me thinks thou spoke to soon . . .
social.bioware.com/forum/Mass-Effect-3/Mass-Effect-3-General-Discussion-No-ME3-Spoilers-allowed/To-Mass-Effect-3-players-from-Dr-Ray-Muzyka-co-founder-of-BioWare-10385157-1.html
Did you even read the article. No mention of face import bug at all. All he talked about is how is feelings got hurt when the fans didn't like the ending. But then he realized he already had our money and it didn't matter what we think.
Also I love how he mentions the reviewers and blogers loved the game and the ending so the fans should too. We all know you pay for good reviews. How dumb do you think we are.
And doesn't seeing the picture of this guy in the article make you want to slap his smug face.
I thought I was the only one thinking that lolz
Edit: Thanks for the update Chris! At least I now know that progress is being made on this

It's good to finally hear something about this but I'm still pissed at Bioware. My game has been sitting collecting dust when I should be enjoying it. I really doubt I will be buying anymore of their products in the future.
I wouldn't say this will prevent me from buying their products in the future necessarily, but it most certainly won't have me pre-ordering or ordering them at full price at any point in the near future at the very least and at the most I will happily avoid them depending on several factors.
The lack of communication was a considerable disappointment and I don't generally want to be bit twice by the same creature, so caveat emptor takes over for now vs the earlier Bioware seal of instant buy or at least heavily consider. The hype for their products they've built up over years of goodwill created from their products now has a considerable crack in it that isn't easily or instantly repaired for me for effectively no reason other than bad communication on technical issues (and some of the decisions on DA2 that really did go over the line, such as to bring a character back to life by ignoring decisions in the first game if applicable and calling it by design while not fixing it....but I digress).
It's disappointing at the least and I hope everyone rejoicing at least keeps it in the back of their minds in the future to learn from it as consumers and Bioware should learn from it in regards to customer service and all will be well. If not, everyone deserves the mistakes that result.

The code fix thing also doesn't mean much if it doesn't bring back the missing scars, hairstyles, and makeup from ME1 & ME2.

Between that and the comments made about the ending I have some new found optimism for Mass Effect 3 next month.
And to people saying how horrible not being able to import the face was, hey it's getting fixed and at least you didn't get a Skyrim on the PS3 situation. Seems QA on these big titles needs to step it up a bit because these types of things shouldn't always be happening.

QA can only fix things if developers are able to do so and publishers willing to give them the time necessary to do so. I'm pretty sure QA caught it since there were comments about it before launch that were unearthed earlier in the thread, but a publisher wouldn't let this slip simply due to such a bug in a million years. That leaves it on how high a priority they gave it and how hard it was to fix and I could tell neither without more info than they care to give. I'm not about to put it all on QA, as I know way too many instances where they're ignored - see some of Penny Arcade's 'the trenches' for further info on it in game development, although such things happen in any validation type job as well.

Exactly. It's cool he updated, but everyone shouldn't be completely joyous just yet. We still have yet to see how this thing will work. Hopefully they were smart enough to consider the missing assets and making sure our Sheps look identical.

Thank you Mr. Priestly. Bioware is still listening to their fans and it impresses me to see they are not willing to leave us high and dry regarding these oversights.
I'm very impressed right now. Well done.

Yes, I don't think we're quite out of the woods yet. While I'm pleased that un update has been issued, the statement doesn't address the problem of character faces looking different between ME2 and ME3 which was a massive concern made very clear in this 200+ page thread. Will this be solved? Hopefully, but I wouldn't relax so soon.
In the meantime, I'll read a little and play a little Skyrim...

Will we be retroactively able to apply the patch to our current game, or will we have to go back and start over?
Doesn't really matter for me. I didn't go too far in ME3 because I couldn't play someone else, not my Shep. So I'll wait and start all over with importing my good old lady from ME2.
