Big thanks to the Bioware team for this. Some of us maybe a little mad at them right now, but we still appreciate what they do for us..

I still dont get why it was impossible to keep the CC from ME2. Was NOT broken...why completely overhaul it?!?

The way faces are rendered in ME3 is quite a bit more advanced. It allows for more emotions to be shown, etc.

They also fixed some of the odd values in ME2...such as eye height. Eye height in the old editors was way too high for realistic faces. Now it's well within normal range, but as a result, imported faces look like the eyes are too low.

In that regard, it's an improvement. I still don't understand the lack of complexion textures (since there are far more that are sitting in the game already) lack of hairstyles, and lack of attractive nose shapes.

Some good news on this, at last. I don't mind if it takes a bit of time, but I hope this is a true fix, and not just giving us 'ME3 versions' of our ME1/2 faces.

I'll just play Halo Anniversary while I'm waiting.

You know the previoius game gave us "ME2 versions' of our ME1 faces.

ME3 has enhanced my custom shep far better than ME2 did, and I had to manually input my ME1 face code from the profile game save hack workaroud.

I posted this in another thread but I think I should post it here as well.

To clarify, I am on PS3 so I am going basically straight from ME2 to ME3 and my face is completely different.

These are screens I captured from the PC version of ME2 and the ME3 demo. When creating my ME2 character on PS3, I copied the code from the PC version of ME2. So it should have transferred to ME3 with no issues, at least according to Bioware.

Again, I used the demo because I don't have the full version of ME3 on PC, but the face was imported the same on the PS3 version. The nose is pretty much the only thing it got right. And I spent over an hour last night trying to make it look the same and couldn't do it. I did get the hair to kinda/sorta match though it's not exactly the way it was in ME2.

After fiddling with it, I decided to just go ahead and play but it just didn't feel right having FemShep's voice coming out of a different face. It's just not what I'm used to so it was taking me out of the experience completely, and as I said earlier, was making me kind of angry while playing it.

Yeah, until this is fixed, or I can figure out how to make my ME3 Shepard look the same (at least reasonably so) as my ME2 Shepard, I'm gonna play Tales of Graces f instead. I just can't play with a different Shepard. I just can't. :(

Here is an example of what I'm talking about. I don't think this is the issue BioWare is fixing. Many of us cannot import our face. We actually get an error message saying the face cannot be imported.

In cases like this, where the face imports but looks different are cases in which ME3 renders it differently. Notice the difference in eye height. Eye height was really buggered in ME1-2. In ME3 they've fixed it, but that means our old faces are overcorrected. My guess is that this sort of thing will not be solved with the patch.

I'll admit, I was a tad irked when I discovered I couldn't import my many and varied Shepards into ME3. But patience is a virtue and once again Bioware pull through. Yes the patch isn't here yet, but the fact that there is one is a testament to Bioware.

I'm a good two weeks behind everyone in my neck of the woods, but now thankfully my first ME3 playthrough edges closer. My Shep can finally finish what he started in 2007.

Thanks to Chris for keeping us updated and to Bioware in it's entirety for all the hard work put in.

I saw a vid on U-tube showing what the problem is. BW some how changed the codes for what constitutes shep's face. A guy copied and pasted his ME2 face code to ME3 and they were different.

I don't know why they can't just release the fix now. We shouldn't have to wait for a patch. We've waited long enough. By the time the patch comes out it will be over a month since the games release. Bioware you already gave us a big middle finger by releasing the game with a problem you knew existed and then spat in our faces when we tried to get a simple answer on a fix. Throw us a friggin bone here and give us the fix. Don't you think we've waited long enough.

What part of the testing process do you not understand? How about they release it to you and you can test it in your machine? Let us know if this fix bricks your machine then.

Seriously, we have to wait for a patch because it HAS to be tested to make sure it doesn't do more damage than good. In Sony and Microsoft's cases, they certainly won't release an untested patch on their systems.

Considering this issue came about from sub-par QA, I don't think they want to repeat that.

It's good that we finally know that this issue is definitely being addressed. I know I wasn't the only one a bit worried we were being ignored.

But instead of trying to get this fix out there as soon as possible they are just going to wait to bundle it with other crap. This was a problem before release so it should have been fixed before then.  Or at lease try to fix it as close to the release as possible. Maybe like 2 or 3 days after would be ok. But over a month is ridiculous.

It's obviuos they are more concerned about fixing the ending then fixing the beginning.

So don't defend the company that up until a day ago you were bad mouthing.

Yes, I'd like clarification on that as well.  I'm also worried that it won't be fixed, since they haven't commented on it.

I guess we'll be able to see for ourselves once the patch comes out, but it would be nice to know now.

The import that originally worked for me actually looks identical to my Shepard, save for the odd change in the color of his eyes. But that's about it, really. Only difference. And they, for some reason, added a facial hair style.

Unfortunately, due to unforseen circumstances in by second entire playthrough of the first two, now my new Shep will not import. Such a bummer. I didn't complete the ME3 and decided to go back to the very beginning to ME1 and make some changes. Now that I've done that, I've come up against a wall. Sucks.

I'm glad a patch is on it's way. My main is still stuck in limbo and waits to see his fate in ME3. I wonder if a small bonus will be given to characters that have imported from ME1 through 3.

Noting big but maybe get rid of the 10% markup when you purchace things in the Normandy terminal or maybe even a free gun of choice in the Specter office?

Just an idea.

In any case. Thanks for the patch and while I have not always agreed with choices Bioware have made , I have NEVER regretted purchacing any Bioware games. Even Sonic for the DS.

Good to hear the patch is in the works in the mean time I have lots of sides character that could use a face lift to play with while I wait for my main to be useable.

Yes this shouldn't have even been a problem but you asked why can't they just release the fix right now and RealStyli explained to you that it is going through a MANDATORY testing process, i don't know how he could have made this any simpler for you.  Stop crying over spilt milk, a new carton is already on the way.

Also how does this show they are more concerned about fixing the ending? Check your facts:

1.They have finished the patch to fix this and are now just waiting on the testing by EA and the console dev

And 2. They are still working on the ending changes/additions

Seems to me they cared more about this, even though this is an issue that they really should have fixed before it was released.

I bet they are just fixing the error message for people who cant import their Shepards. Not fixing the issue where our Shepards doesn't look like our Shepards.

It could've been faster if they didn't bundle it with other fixes, just sayin. Would've cost them a lot more, but it could've been faster.

We should know the specifics by next week or the week after when they release the patch notes and the patch to PC.

So how long does a patch take to get QC'd on average?

Yes I understand the testing process and I don't expect the patch to be released today. What I'm saying is they are going to wait and do one big patch that fixes a bunch of issues instead of just trying to rush this fix through testing. They say they fixed the problem yes. But now the fix is on the back burner and they are working on other stuff. Then they are going to bundle it all and then send it out for testing. Which is going to take even longer.

I think I read somewhere that it takes about 2 weeks for a patch to get through Microsoft's certification. I don't know for sure though.

Ah sorry, now i get you.
Well i've seen nothing to prove either way so i'm going to remain hopefull that they won't put it on the back burner before crying wolf.

Also to those asking how long testing takes, the skyrim 1.4 patch took little under a week to go through the console devs testing.

I don't think they're going to release patches exclusively for platforms sadly. People who use the consoles might get mad or something.
And there are probably other stages it still has to go through too.

Skyrim had other exclusive things for PC too. I don't think Bioware is going to release exclusive patches for platforms.
