A new patch gets heavily tested by BioWare, EA, Microsoft and Sony before it can be released to the public. We all want to be sure that it fixes the issues it is supposed to fix and doesn't start any new issues
Hopefully rather better than 1.03 for Dragon Age: Origins was tested.....

Correction Skyrim had exclusive beta patches for the PC, then they released the official patches on PC as soon as the beta testing was done. The patches were sent off to the console devs at the same time as they released it on PC, so my guess is as soon as EA and Bioware have finished testing this patch they will do the same.Loegi wrote...
Skyrim had other exclusive things for PC too. I don't think Bioware is going to release exclusive patches for platforms.Fillydilly wrote...

I don't think they're going to release patches exclusively for platforms sadly. People who use the consoles might get mad or something.THEE_DEATHMASTER wrote...
Would that matter for the PC version?
And there are probably other stages it still has to go through too.
Skyrim had exclusive patches for PC.

But instead of trying to get this fix out there as soon as possible they are just going to wait to bundle it with other crap. This was a problem before release so it should have been fixed before then. Or at lease try to fix it as close to the release as possible. Maybe like 2 or 3 days after would be ok. But over a month is ridiculous.
It's obviuos they are more concerned about fixing the ending then fixing the beginning.
So don't defend the company that up until a day ago you were bad mouthing.
Yes this shouldn't have even been a problem but you asked why can't they just release the fix right now and RealStyli explained to you that it is going through a MANDATORY testing process, i don't know how he could have made this any simpler for you. Stop crying over spilt milk, a new carton is already on the way.
Also how does this show they are more concerned about fixing the ending? Check your facts:
1.They have finished the patch to fix this and are now just waiting on the testing by EA and the console dev
And 2. They are still working on the ending changes/additions
Seems to me they cared more about this, even though this is an issue that they really should have fixed before it was released.
Yes I understand the testing process and I don't expect the patch to be released today. What I'm saying is they are going to wait and do one big patch that fixes a bunch of issues instead of just trying to rush this fix through testing. They say they fixed the problem yes. But now the fix is on the back burner and they are working on other stuff. Then they are going to bundle it all and then send it out for testing. Which is going to take even longer.
I wouldn't expect you to read all 230+ pages of the thread but it was already mentioned why they would try and bundle as many fixes into one patch if possible - Each patch on consoles costs them $40,000 on each system to get certified and released. So that's at least $80,000 to fix these issues on PS3 and Xbox 360. Then you facture in the actual development of the patches. It's quite expensive and I can't see EA willing to spend the money on multiple patches if they don't have to.
Then you have to factor in that one "fix" may cause issues with another, so it's better to have them all working nicely together before releasing them. How annoying would it be if they fixed this issue and another patch crippled save files?
(You only have to look at the backwards flying dragons and other bugs in Skyrim that were introduced by a patch to see what can happen)
So yeah, it should never have been broken and it's not ideal to have to wait longer but it will mean a much better patch run.

Its good to finally hear from Bioware, But I am not dancing on the table before i really see the patch does fix the problem.
More then that i noticed something. Ray Muzyka posted a blog about how much they care about there customers with comments closed
Real short after the blog of Ray Chris comes in and is bringing news a patch is there. Well i wonder... I have a little theory about this. Maybe Ray was not aware at all about the import Face problems and after setting his blog he saw the comments and reactions that were posted to him ( and tweeted) and emailed
so my theory is that he then only saw it and was thinking WTF !! and then demanded a full list of all the problems with Me 3 ASAP! hihihi I can imagine that several ppl had to go to his office and ......
One question he surely will have asked.. Is this gooing to be fixed?
and NOW Inmediatly respond to the topic with 90k ppl posting in it and get out of my office !!! NOW!
You all take care
Regards from the Netherlands.

About three weeks ago I bought my copy of Mass Effect 3, I got home with a massive smile on my face as I put the disc into the tray, I loaded up the game and chose to import my paragon Shep, I saw all of the choices I had made were saved, but when I proceeded I noticed his face was the default custom face and not the face I've grown to love, I freaked out and tried to import my renegade Shep. The game gave me the import error message and I just lost it. I scoured the internet for help but found nothing, I spent a week looking for ways to fix the issue but nothing worked, (especially since I'm not playing on PC).
For the past three weeks I've been checking up on this forum page to see if there was any news and was so angry that Bioware refused to update the situation, I was also very angry that Bioware released the game with this massive issue, they must have known about it, I'm sure one of them imported a custom ME 1 character at one point.
Two days ago I decided to register with these forums so that I could vent as well, but I had to wait twenty four hours before I could post, yesterday I saw that the situation had been updated. Suppossedly the issue has been 'fixed' though, I don't know what that means, I'd like to hear the words 'you will be able to play as the Shepard you know and love' come out of a Bioware rep, I might be happy then. But still, it is ridiculous that they released the game in this state, it is ridiculous that we had to wait this long for an update, it is ridiculous that the 'fix' won't be available until the next official patch, which could be a month away, it is ridiculous that they don't just let us download this fix on its own, it is ridiculous that Bioware have treated their fanbase like this and I have lost all respect for this company, I'm sure EA is currently holding a gun to their head, but I don't care, Bioware is spitting in the face of its fans with this fiasco.

Isn't accepting a fan made solution against Bioware's artistic integrity?

Okay, I play Mass Effect on Xbox, though I am a PC gamer (the original ME was released on Xbox first, hence why I play ME on Xbox), I've been looking forward to ME 3 for around two years now, eagerly awaiting the day I could get my hands on it. I've finished the original ME five times and am currently playing through again, I have finished ME 2 twice, Mass Effect is my favourite game and I cannot even begin to express how much I love the series. I was a bit dissapointed to hear that multiplayer would be in ME3, I was scared the devs would devote more time to that than what makes Mass Effect incredible; but I could look past this, after all, it was Mass Effect 3! :DD

Ridiculous is an understatement. Its embarrassing, unbelievable and unacceptable too. Hopefully this fixes the problem 100%. We cant cry about the past anymore wont do us any good, lets just hope this works so I can play the damn game already.

So is the fix for ME1 faces as well, or just ME2 faces with codes?
Probably, but we won't know for sure until it's released.

Kinda
Obviously they said it was a temporal fix.
The real fix comes with them so they will have to prove they can do BETTER than the fans.

Exactly! We're impinging on their artistic vision!
Botching the face imports was clearly a statement about identity and the soul...and some other artistic...****.

I personally believe Mass Effect 3 is the best work we’ve yet created.
Really? ME3 is the best work you´ve created..? THIS is the BEST you can do!? <_<
Yeah, um, Ray, I think you forgot about a couple games called Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate II. :|
Actually, he doesn't. I never thought I'd say this, but Ray Muzyka is right, ME3 is better than BG II.
