I too am one of the victims who can't import their custom faced Shepard and I am not going to play ME3 till I can. However, I keep reading every where how people demand a different ending. The attention it gets and how everybody is talking about it, is already a big spoiler to me but I'm worried about something else.

I don't know if Bioware is actually going to change the ending because I don't read any news related to it but I do notice that Bioware is giving this concern a lot of attention. So I'm worried that maybe they have plans to change the ending and include that in the same patch we've been waiting for and that we'll never get to see the original ending if we keep waiting for this patch.

Can anyone confirm that this is not going to happen?

I don't know what is the ending, but this mess around that is quite ridicolous. Newcomers or players who started with the ME2 get more attention than the old Me players, whom are still waiting for the face import patch, so can't see the ending until it's fixed. It's a joke.

Thanks, Chris, for letting all of us know, and thanks to the BioWare team for finally correcting the issue!

Except it's not fixed. We just have a wimpy promise of it being fixed. Not even an release estimate. Which is odd because EA seems to be pretty good at abiding to release dates, when they're going to get money. You know, no matter how incomplete/buggy the game is. Remember the problems people had with graphics in Crysis 2 (a game, incidentally, sold on having the best graphics ever)?

Release date: 3/6. Today: 3/24.

It's about three weeks after launch and one of the major customization features was completely botched. You would think that EA or Bioware would care at all, but nope. The hundreds of hours of gameplay put into a custom Shepard? You know, the selling point of players making Mass Effect a personalized experience? Naw, let's just take the money.

Good one, EA. Good one.

NB- I live in an area where there are many Chinese stores. 99% of them are awesome, but there is a portion run by ragbags.

The following exchange should not be seen as any attack on an race.

Except the Quarians. They're slave owners who can't handle their slaves deciding they don't want to be slaves any more.

"You have money? We care! We care! You buy now, we fix quick, promise!"
"Ok, here you go."
"Thank you for money! Goodbye now!"
"Hey, when's the fix?"
"Soon, soon. You have money?"
"I've just given you my money . . ."
"You come back when you have money! Goodbye now!"

I could do a version where the shop owner is English, if that'd help...

Lol you guys are so silly.

Chris is a community manager. Obviously you have NO idea what that entails. It's one of the worst jobs to do and one of the most gratifying. They have to take everything they see online, the good and the bad. The good is usually not even something they did but accolades meant for the dev's. He will however be at the dirty end of the ****stick if something goes wrong.
What he posts is probably stuff that has been through a lot of advisors and copywriters. I used to do the same job at an ISP and yea... these situations are hard but dont shoot the messenger.

For the rest, relax guys and just wait and see. Whilst I agree that Bioware has gone downhill since EA it has no use to be angry.
If they make paid DLC of this ending its simple, we boycott Bioware. I already boycott their Dragon Age IP because DA2. And if they mess up ME then they lose not only me as an ME customer but also as a The Old Republic customer. EA will also lose me as a customer. It might not hurt their pocket too bad but it's not about their pocket that I need to hurt right now. It's about down the line when more and more people abandon a brand.

As for Chris, you're doing a good job and I'd hate to be in your shoes right now lol

But in the end it all boils down to how they will solve this problem.
Paid DLC will not be an option for them I hope... otherwise I can see a sudden spike in piracy:bandit:

EDIT: Not all that he posts of course. Think like this are checked by copywriters but general posts aren't obviously.

Chris is NOT doing a good job. He cares more about shutting down threads that are bad for PR than reading threads on game breaking faults, and addressing ALL the relevant issues.

If the game gets patched, I import my Shepard, and his face is completely borked because its been read, but not translated correctly....

Not to mention the complete lack of respect for us that comes through in his posts, which is unacceptable from a customer service postion.

EA and Bioware are obiously more concerned about covering their asses than providing products that WORK.

I think you demonstrated horrible customer service and complete disrespect for the people that keep you in business quite well. EA and Bioware are becoming a great new stereotyp for poor customer service.

The story and endings don't matter. People that played Mass Effect don't matter. Mass Effect is a 3rd person cover shooter with a tacked on storyline, provided in installments to maintain a constant revenue stream for EA via DLC.

Well jokes on EA and BioWare this issue made me not buy ME3 when it came out, I have been keeping a eye on this forum to see any updates on importing a ME1 character... and all I see is a lot off talk but no date to when I can continue my story.

In the end I borrowed the game yesterday from my brother, just so I could continue my story but I feel really mistreated as a fan of this series.

How you guys could miss this bug is beyond me, also it appears to me you cant have any scars on your face anymore.... could that be related?

Anyway if you fix it or not doenst matter to me, at the end I played the game with a face that didnt even come close to the shep I have all those memories with and I didnt feel bad about not giving EA any money.

Really a shame that a story that had such an epic start ended with shafting the fans that are with you since the start.

Yes there is an updated text but still a month has soon gone by since the game was released and no patch has arrived yet to fix the import character problem.

The reason you consider this "whining" is because you don't share in our frustration, anger, fear or sadness to the same extent, so it's annoying to you. In that case, I think you should stop reading something that annoys you, because for a lot of us, this thread is as close to cathartic as can be found in the world about one of our favorite gaming franchises going down the toilet.

You make too many assumptions. The only reason I know this thread even exists is because my face didn't import into Mass Effect 3. Same as pretty much everyone else here to varying degrees. I spent $45 extra dollars (that I honestly didn't have to spend) on a new flash drive the day after I got the game to try and jerry-rig a workaround. So no, I very much share the frustration, anger, fear, and sadness. You assume it annoys me, but I haven't said that. The fact is, while I agree with the frustration presented in this thread, posts like the one I quoted are not constructive. They are inflammatory and they are ill-informed. They only serve to further spread misinformation. I replied not out of annoyance, but because s/he wasn't paying any attention to the thread at large. Namely the very first post, where it says they've found a fix and the patch is in the testing and certification phase right now.

So, while I can understand your need for a punching bag on this issue? I don't think this is really the best place. I know the internet will be the internet and I'm swimming against the current if I honestly believe people online won't be this way when given any opportunity, but when it benefits ignorance, I think it becomes a problem. People want to know if there is a fix. When there is a fix. What the fix will do. How it will do it. Some of these questions have been answered, and if we're just here to take our cathartic jabs at silly, silly BioWare, we're never going to see the answers because we'll be too busy using this thread for something other than help and information.

I wasn't aware this game came out February 25th.

It came out March 6, 2012 and Bioware said that the import bug will be fixed in next patch.
So it has only been almost 3 weeks now but Bioware are not known for their speedy patches.. :P

If you'd look, they said the patch was done. It's all up to testing, Microsoft, and Sony now. They said they found a fix and it's in the testing phase only on March 21st, four days ago.

Some people have some hardcore trust issues with BioWare. Anyway, I got tired of waiting and decided to recreate my Shepard using the YAML method + Gibbed. Despite the different hairstyle and noticeable makeup, I can actually say "That's my Shepard." I regret not doing it sooner.

They never said the patch was done, they only said that this issue was fixed. It could be possible they are fixing other issues to include in this patch.

My problem was actually less noticable makeup. Other than that, my Shepard worked fine with the workaround, too. All I changed was a darker shade of eyeshadow.

I finally got bored and decided to rebuild my Shepard. That's the result:

Mass Effect 2

Mass Effect 3

I say I am really ok with it, adding the usual Shepard voice I admit the result playing the game is awesome, so I am fine now. You should all try aswell, using the code that the site Mass Effect Tool provides you, you just have to make some arrangement, usually structure of face it's ok so that you just have to adjust it. And now I go to play campaign FINALLY!!

Is it possible to use this method on the Xbox?
