This all sounds like a very bad joke to me...

EA was a great company years ago, but they fell very deep and now they took Bioware with them. It's sooo sad!

And the paying customers are left standing in the rain...

This is a pretty basic error. Managed to make one import look like the original, but waiting for patch before I start another (I couldn't make anything like him!). Four weeks and no patch, even for the PC is a bit harsh.

Uh-huh. You had to use a third party tool to play a big budget game the way its been advertised for 5 years. Not fail at all. You certainly seem like you would understand being on your knees for Bioware and EA. Congratulations.

Obvious troll can't be anymore obvious.

What he said.

I am asking myself: If you don't like BioWare, why are you even on these forums? I mean, I really enjoyed the Mass Effect series. I am not letting myself be angered by such minor things. The import bug was actually the only "minor" problem I encountered in ME3 (YES, believe it or not!, I like the ending). Now go slap me and see what it gains you)

Hey Chris, how about a facility to import/alter apprearance mid-game in the patch? I remember as far back as ME1 getting a Shep that looked really great in the creation program lighting, watching the intro until that panning zoom to close up and thinking... "Ooooh... nope." And back to the drawing board, full tweaking, full intro, thinking "why can't I just tweak the eyes/cheekbones/nose mid-game"?

I support this, it could be implemented in game through med-bay, or for a easter egg with a somewhat narcissistic tone through the mirror in Shepard's bathroom.

The mirror in Shep's bathroom is a good idea. Along the lines of the Mirror in the Black Emporium in DA2. If they want a narrative reason for changing your appearance why not introduce some sort of cosmetic laser scalpel or something which Dr Michelle/Chakwas sends you (along with a typical DLC email). Chakwas was always very concerned about Shep's scarring...

Hi everyone,

We DO understand your frustration. Just please make sure not to direct your frustration towards other forum members instead of the actual problem, stay civil and constructive at all times. Thank you!

Well, as others have raised the rather valid point of it not actually being clear whether this forthcoming patch will fix all parts of this problem (the error message, the faces not actually looking like our old Shepards when the posted workaround is used and/or the faces do import without an error message, and it also being impossible for some to recreate the face of their Shepard in the new charactor creator), you can perhaps alleviate some of this frustration by confirming that this patch does fix this problem completely.  If it doesn't, even then, giving details of what it does or does not fix may alleviate some of the frustration because at least then we'll know.

When part of your job is communicating with a particular group of people, actually saying something meaningful to them is kinda vital in that.

'If you don't like Bioware' is not an argument for poor customer service. How important this problem is to YOU is irrelevant. How much anyone likes the game is irrelevant to the issue of the problems the games ship with.

Take your 'it doesnt bother me, what are you whining about TROLOLOL' elsewhere.

Do we have any idea how long it takes for a patch to be cleared for release?

Patch 1.02 for ME2 took almost 5 months or so, so I wouldn't sit around waiting all day.

Well that sucks. Has there been any reason given why this wasn't caught during testing? It is a core part of the franchise.

This is the best place to complain to Bioware, if you haven't noticed yet.
And to bork something you've pretty much hyped for 6 year, is not a "minor problem" in my opinion.

And there are other problems with this game too, from what I've heard and seen.

Is that 5 months from working on the problem, or 5 months after being sent off for testing?

Ok, I have what I hope is some good news.

We have fixed the issue of faces not correctly importing into Mass Effect 3. It will be included as part of the next Mass Effect 3 patch.

The not completely good news is that I do not yet have a confirmed date for when the patch will be available. A new patch gets heavily tested by BioWare, EA, Microsoft and Sony before it can be released to the public. We all want to be sure that it fixes the issues it is supposed to fix and doesn't start any new issues (this is called testing or certification testing ). If a patch fails during testing, it is sent back, fixed again and retested until it passes. Then it is released to gamers. Until we know that the patch has passed certification testing, I don't want to give even a rough idea of the date, to prevent disappointment should it need further testing.

So I'm sorry I don't have the full answer you all want and are waiting for yet. When I can give you the date when the patch will be available I will.

I'm editing the OP to reflect this info as well.

thank you Chris!!!!

XD Okay let me take part of this discussion too. Bioware asks us to stay calm, to be patient and tolerating but didn't Bioware recognize that we are all pretty annoyed because of this problem. I mean was that problem a mystery for you guys when you shipped the game?
I tell you something you brought out a Game which isn't finished yet with a terrible starting when I recognized I wouldn't be able to import my charakter and a terrible ending when I recognized that there is no real ending.
I don't know what you guys where thinking when you shipped that game to Europe and all over the world but the only thing that counts for Bioware is the amount of sold Games. They spent a lot of money on merchandising the Game, they spent a lot of time to tell us how awesome it will be. The game isn't bad but it is long way far from what you have told us it would be. It's not as epic as the first Mass Effect game was. THAT was epic, THAT was love and abandon for teling us a story. Today Mass Effect 3 has become some kind of mainstream and this character editor is a joke! The femshep faces look terrible if you compare them to the faces in part 2. And I know why I can't import my charakter because there is a nose which isn't in the editor... MY NOSE ^^ and the haircolor isn't there and also the hairstyle is different! Why are you working on charakter codes if I won't be able to use it in the next game. This problem must be huge if you need 4 weeks to fix it or more without telling us a date or a nearly week or something. THIS is a joke I am sure on the 1. of April they say: "Guys we were just kidding... here is the real game!" If you want to know if this patch works give it to the fans and they will tell you if it works. Give us... just... just you know... something! It is a damn joke that fans made a tool to fix that problem in 2 weeks... of course that tool didn't work for me because my nose isn't there! Oh guys I will really overthink my next decision to buy another Bioware-EA Game!

There is no sense in telling us "We have fixed the issue of faces not correctly importing into Mass Effect 3"

And then they say: " I do not yet have a confirmed date for when the patch will be available"

^^ What the... it's like they would say: " Oh I have cake... but you can't have it!" XD

I hope that patch will be released this week. All that counts for them seem to be the amount of sold games. We should have gone to the stores and gave all the games back when we had the possibility to to that! Oh by the reapers I am pissed... ^^

It's nice to know that the patch is done, but it needed to be fixed 2 weeks ago.

Hopefully the patch gets released soon. It's starting to get nice out.

I think they should release the import fix by itself, it should be the #1 proirty over some random bug or glitch.  The error was known well before the release because someone wrote the message, it could not have wriiten itself could it? I, much like everyone else, am afraid that this fix will just get rid of the error mesage and not fix the real problem.  In return I will just get rid of the game and cut my loses and will never buy another Bioware or EA product, due to bad customer service

Also I wish I did return the game three weeks ago, but I don't think Best Buy would have accpeted it becasue it was opened, but I didn't try either so I guess its my fault for not trying.

Let's hope that Mr. Priestly keeps us up to date.  I will give until Thursday becasue that was the last update.   If there is no update shame on him.

First, I understand the frustration some here have, but the above attitude is just horrific.  Step back, take a deep breath and try to understand that you are NOT important enough for anyone at BIOWARE to have a personal grudge against you or your freakin' game character.

They made a mistake, said they would fix it and are now updating you on the progress of said fix.  You can rant and whine all day about how long it took them to fix it or tha or that it should never have happened in the first place, but quit being so freakin' ungrateful and obnoxious in the process.

I'm not going to be grateful for a broken game. They didn't GIVE us the game, we PAID for it. EA and Bioware's behaviour on this is disgusting, as is your defending them.

It was 4 months actually. That's the time it took from 1.01 release to 1.02. Given that we are already at 1.01, it might not take that long this time, but I just wanted to point out that it might not happen in the next 1 or 2 weeks, so you would use your head's energy for something other than worrying about the update.

This fix is being included in the next patch....what makes you think the patch only has the face import fix in it?

Explain what reasoning there would be behind delaying such a patch. It's three weeks after the release and they botched the biggest customization feature. They changed something that wasn't broken.

What makes me think the face import fix is the only one in it? Because of how grand a screw-up it is by Bioware and how big of a let down it is to ME fans. Bioware has already taken a at least of 60 million dollars from us, which should far exceed what they put into developing their game. I don't see any reason for them to be taking their sweet time with any patches or to be cost efficient with something that could only have been a idiotic mistake during development. What the hell kind of a joke of QC is Bioware running anyway?
