Hello again,

No Mr. Cat has not left the building but being on GMT+1, I am not at the office during the most busy US hours and had to tend to the family a bit. I'm usually on anyway but I couldn't last night unfortunately.

I want to clear a few things up. Firstly I don't work OUT OF BioWare Austin or Edmonton but I am just as much a full time employee nonetheless. My actual duties do not include these forums but I chose to ask for permission to talk to you as I believe it's needed. In fact my prime tasks involve Nordics only but I care about all fans so I'm here on my own accord.

I don't expect my presence to make your frustration regarding this problem and how you feel you been treated to magicially disappear, nor am I feeding you something that I don't genuinely believe. You are very much entitled to voicing your opinions and you should not be moderated for it as long as it's not personal attacks or trolling towards BioWare staff members.

I do however, in the situation we're in hope that you can see that we are actually working on issues and that we hear you. Everything said here is compiled and conveyed to the correct people, both at EA and BioWare.
I know that it might not always seem that any of us are around, especially with a perceived "silence" when there's no post from BioWare staff for X amount of time. But we are and we do. Also this is something I CAN affect and thus I'm doing my best to affect it.

Now I can't talk specifically why this error was in the live game, simple reason is that I wasn't part of the process. I know how irritating it can be though, I have friends who are affected. I've been lucky as I run PC stock MaleShep but it doesn't lessen my empathy for the need for a fix. I acknowledge it fully.

Confirm or deny: Gunther shut down Mandalore.

And back on topic, any word if scars are coming back (and I don't mean Renegade  Lazarus scars)?

I can hardly believe that. Many people says so, but they wouldn't miss the opportunity if Bioware released another Mass Effect (or add-on).

I promise you, I will not be buying any Bioware product from now on. Even if they seperate from EA.
And another mass effect would be a low blow. And since it won't be about Shepard anyway, I won't be emotionally connected anyway.

Well, I haven't played yet ME3, I don't know how it ends, I don't know what happens to Shepard, but I'm aware of possibility your words may suggest (on purpose or not... please, no spoilers...), but anyway... I guess the game is profitable, so - I don't know - maybe some  prequel some day? Who knows...

Remember, time heals almost all wounds and I think you may budge some day when all bad emotions will fall.

I bought this game weeks ago and still I haven´t been able to play it - I tried to play it but without the face I used in ME1 and ME2 it feels empty, I have to congratulate Bioware for managing this huge SNAFU, they could have spared themselves all this trouble by postponing the release date by being honest with their costumers, but their greed made them release it.

If this patch that is taking a bit too long to be released does not fix the problem - they can kiss goodbye their most loyal fans.

The PC patch does not require certification nonsense release it on origin and everyone gets the update.

Completed my latest ME 1 play through a week and a half ago. I just finished up the IFF retrieval mission in ME 2 last night. Should be finished with Legion's loyalty mission tonight, and possibly the Suicide Mission. That will leave Arrival for completion Thursday evening. If no patch by Saturday (which is likely since patches seem to hit on Tuesdays) I guess I'll try importing my current femshep play through into ME 3 and see what happens.

I've already done the whole YMAL upload/convert/recreate in ME 2 dance just in case. That took ~1.5 hours. Had to download Chrome because the website didn't seem to like IE9. Not looking forward to going through this with my remaining 5 femshep play throughs.

I just have this nagging suspicion that the patch will simply suppress the error message when importing of our saves and do nothing for the missing assets. Obviously, I hope Bioware goes the extra mile and does a proper job of adding the missing assets back into the custom face console, but I'm not holding my breath. Turning Asari blue would clash with my eyes.

I'm wondering if the people complaining about Bioware's apparent lack of motivation to fix the issue are aware that the patch is actually finished.

You guys do know that, right? It's finished, it's bundled into an executable and it's sitting in Microsoft and Sony's servers awaiting approval. Take your frustrations in MS and Sony's direction, they're the ones holding it up while they test it.

Whatever wait for the moment is down to the patch going through cirtification. If there's another wait it will be because the patch is deemed to be faulty and creates more problems than it solves.
So for crying out loud be patient. It's not like we're still waiting for Bioware to acknowledge the issue or that we're still waiting for them to fix it. They HAVE fixed it.

And honestly by this point I don't think demanding answers regarding how this came to be is going to make any difference. It's happened, Bioware are probably surprised by the overwhelming negative reaction to it and with any luck they'll learn from it. If not, well then you can take your anger out and boycott the company then.

What, exactly, have they fixed? Did they just suppress the error message, or are they now importing the raw data and have added back the missing assests? Chris was more than a bit vague on this point.

Yeah... I bought this game about a month ago because I like waiting...

And of course I will take my frustration in MS and Sony's direction, they did "some-kinda-voodoo-thing" and ****ed up face import... but wait... oh no... they didn't.

Just going by pre ME3 press releases and stuff. They always said Shepard's story would be a trilogy, though there might be another game in the same universe.

And I think I will be able to hold out.

No, we don't, and we'd have to be psychic in order to do so given Bioware and EA have made no such statement.

They have said that the code to fix the face import bug has been completed and will be included in the next patch. But no word one way or the other if that means if the rest of the things in that patch have been completed yet. They might well be. They might not be done for another three months. Bioware have been extremely vague, and that is one of the things that is really upsetting and makes us customers feel pretty devalued.

Everyone appreciates that patches require testing, and that XBL, PSN and Origin all have requirements to do so for the security of those networks. And everyone would quite understand that it is better a patch fails testing, is delayed and is totally fixed than broken code going live. That is how we got into this mess in the first place.

But what would be very helpful to know is has the patch been submitted for certification? When? What *exactly* does it fix - i.e. does it allow the importation of raw data of ME1 faces? Is it just a best attempt given the new reduced set of ME3 assets? Does it apply to a pre-existing ME3 imported save, or will it require a new save to be started from scratch?

It should be very easy for Bioware to answer these questions. There should be absolutely no third party issues with doing so. And they would be very helpful, even though the patch isn't in people's hands - some people may well find the last question to be very important about if they keep playing or not in the meantime.

It would certainly make it easier to shake the feeling that Bioware were doing an Apple with this (i.e. the patch wasn't being held back until April 6th in a shallow attempt to give the team some good news to announce at the start of the PAX session most of us won't be at).

Even if I can't hold out ( which is unlikely with the Mass Effect series since Shepard's tale has come to an end), I won't be paying full price again. I'll wait for a 75% off sale or GOTY edition (or a 75% off GOTY edition).

Just saying.

Edit: It's also much easier to "hold out" given the recent inclusion of multiplayer and said multiplayer affecting the single player game in what I consider to be a major way. In my opinion, multiplayer should NEVER affect the single player experience beyond maybe unlocking some special weapons or armor sets.

Speculation.  From what Chris said, they fixed THAT PARTICULAR ISSUE.  He didn't say if the patch as a whole was complete, since there were other fixes being bundled with it.

They never said the patch was finished. They just said this particular issue was fixed.
It is very probable that they are now fixing other issues before sending it in for certification (which will probably only happen after Bioware tested it themselves), since they said they are doing one big patch instead of many smaller patches.
And we don't know how they fixed it. It could be possible that they just removed the error message.

This is one of the better posts I've seen from staff. Still not entirely accurate with Priestly shutting down threads because people suggested that EA, and ALL the big publishers buy reviews, and labelling such as 'abuse'.

I try to make it clear that I have no issues with individuals, but I have MAJOR issues with corporate attitudes and behaviours.

If the patch was really ready it would have been released on PC by now. There is no certification process on PC. No dealing with Sony or Microsoft. This is bull

 still no patch??

I finished the Suicide mission as my Paragon FemShep last night, (haven't done LOTSB or Arrival yet) and I "tried" to import to 3....didn't get an error message, but everything was wrong.....hair colour was off, eye colour didn't match, eye shadow was way off, and it looked like she'd put on about 50lbs in the face!! Also, wtf is up with the hairstyles?? they look like they've been nicked off of some Lego characters!!

Hope its patched soon....

I'm think this Patch won't work as we expected to, i'm think this patch just will give us the more near possible face code, but it won't look the same, this will be like the YAML workaround method.

If this happens BIOWARE wil need to scape from fans or somenthing like that xD

I hope so  I spent ages making a good looking FemShep in ME1, imported her to 2, and it would be a damn shame if I can't use her in 3.....

The 'trilogy' became a 'not trilogy' when Bioware was bought out. Thats why the ending is derp. So they can try to sucker people in to REAL ending DLC and Mass Effect 4.

okay i caved and played without my face. The Journey to the end is fun, but the ending is very shallow and totally does not give any closure its super disappointing. So be warned
