I e-mailed EA about this issue and added in all the questions that you guys and myself have been asking. This is the garbage response I got and no I'm not joking about this. This was an ACTUAL response.

"Hello (my name),

Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts.

I understand your issue that you are not able to load your saved content in the game. To correct the problem, please follow these steps to clear cache for your Xbox console.

Clearing the Cache:

1.Power on the Xbox 360 console.
2.Navigate to “My Xbox”.
3.Select “System Settings”.
4.Select “Memory”, highlight the storage device, and press “Y” on the controller. (Do not press the “A” button.)
1.If there are multiple storage devices on the console, it doesn’t matter which storage device is selected as the cache is cleared for all storage devices.
5.Select “Clear System Cache”.

For any help with the steps above, please do not hesitate to approach us. Alternatively, please visit our online knowledgebase here: http://help.ea.com/

At Electronic Arts, we value your co-operation and efforts.

Regards,
Gaurav
Electronic Arts- World Wide Customer Experience."

Can you believe that. Not only did they completely ignore all my questions but they gave me some bogus answer that has no relevance to the matter.

Seriously, e-mailing customer support for damn near any major corporation on the planet is a complete waste of time.
Think of the hundreds, if not thousands of e-mails they get a day. You think they can employ enough people to individually answer every question personally and that such a measure wouldn't be massively expensive?

Companies use e-mail screening programs because for 90% of e-mails this is enough. Most ask simple questions that have simple answers easilly looked up if you know what you're doing (and generally people e-mails customer support *don't* know what they're doing).
So the program scans the e-mail, finds as many key words and phrases it can and auto replied with what it considers the most appropriate reply it can.

Obviously for more complex questions, it simply cannot understand it fully/does not have an answer/chooses the closest match (which may be 70% comparable or less) and sends you that.

The only way to get true answers to your questions are to ask on forums, speak to a customer representitive on a Livechat or to phone them directly.

The multiplayer global operation this week rewards you for promoting multiplayer characters into your singleplayer game. How is this supposed to work for those of us who are patiently awaiting the patch to allow our characters to be imported properly?

So you're admitting stealing a publishers game on a site they have a large presence on.

Can't tell if serious or just stupid...

Stealing isn't the right word.  To steal is to take an item and deprive it's owner of it's use.  Whoever made a pirated game still owns the code.  Call it illegally copying, or something.  "Stealing" is an incorrect term, from a grammatical standpoint.  Sorry, literary nerd, /nitpick.

Won't effect the pirates or thier customers/downloaders.  It won't dent EA's money pile. This effect the legit players with higher prices and spyware or verifications.  Thanks, we needed this. <_<

Next time I buy a game with always on DRM remind me to thank you.

Actually, stealing is taking someone property without permission or legal right. It has nothing to do with depriving it's owner of it's use. And whoever made the pirated game does not own the code. EA still holds IP rights. This still counts as stealing.

You make no sense.  Whoever made the game doesn't own the code, but then they do?  The developer/EA still own the code.  Why would you say they both do and don't?

Anyway, stealing, as a word, still implies the illegal transfer of something away from someone.  As code is infinitely propagatable, you can't "steal" it, as such.  You can illegally copy it, you can illegally download without purchase, but you can't technically "steal" it.  Just from a grammatical standpoint.

To make an example, if I get in your car, and drive it away, I have stolen it.  If I somehow made an exact duplicate of your car, and drove that away, did I steal your car?  Or did I copy it?  Further, let's say the act of somehow duplicating your car without permission is illegal.  Then I have made an illegal copy of your car.  I didn't steal your actual car.

Regardless, my grammatical nitpicking is really beside the point.  I don't really expect anyone to change their vernacular just because I'm irked by terms that aren't quite right, and I think it's a bit silly for him to come on here and announce he pirated a game.

A better protest is returning the one you purchased.  That will affect them a lot more.  I intend to do just that.  They've made me wait a full month with no patch, no answer, no nothing.  Can't play the game I bought, so, why should I have it?  I'd possibly repurchase it when they fix this, but as they'll probably make people wait until after PAX, I highly doubt it.

Maybe it´ll help you guys to release some anger by voting EA for worst US company in 2012!

That is pure excellence. The idea is so simple in theory, but I dunno, just the way it is worded had me laughing at times.

Just been Pm'd by staff basically telling me we shouldn't even be complaining here and that "Primary customer service is and has always been provided by our publisher. customer service issues should be directed to EA support."

So really, we're wasting out time even being here.

I've had enough of this now.

Reading this just made me think of the poor guys and gals at BW who have spent months/years of their lives creating the Mass Effect series and who, were it up to them, would do everything in their power to help their customers enjoy a game they have gone through so much to make. They didn't want EA. They didn't want to have their reputation tarnished. They had no choice.
Am I the only one who feels genuinly sorry for these people? It must be pretty gutting to know customers that have enjoyed the fruits of your labour for so long are being battered at the final furlong by bureaucracy and rubbish they have no control over. I know if I was one such dev I'd struggle to keep my mouth shut with the frustration.

Sorry, when I said "whoever made the pirated game", I meant the guy/gal who bought the game or obtained the code and then made it available for people to use. I did not mean EA. Does that make sense?

Also, your car analogy does not work. We are not talking actual physical property but intellectual property. When you buy someone's IP, you are gaining the right to use it yourself. If you use someone's IP without paying for it, you are then taking their property without permission or legal right. That is stealing.

I first bought ME1 and began playing March 9th of this year. I quickly fell in love with the game and played like crazy.
March 15th I began playing ME2. The first thing that I noticed was that my Shepard did not import correctly. I quickly found that this was due to options being changed/removed for ME2.
March 28th I bought ME3 and attempted to import my Shepard, only to find it could not import. I attempted to rebuild him, but as with ME2, the necessary choices were not there.

From the beginning the intention was to create a trilogy that allowed you to import your character from game to game, creating something special. How could anyone with even half a brain feel that, with the plan in mind, they should change/remove features for the character creation? Sure, add options/features, but do not remove, doing so is begging for problems.

I then looked at the box and realized what had happened... EA. Bioware sold themselves into slavery. EA is well known for taking original, amazing games, and forcing the developers to turn them into other games, ruining the original. We went from a great action RPG to a slightly less great, Gears of War feeling RPG, to not even being able to do the most basic, most essential part of the game... import.
In the matter of weeks, I was able to watch years of Bioware development. In these weeks, Bioware went from an unknown developer to my favorite developer to a developer I will never give another dime to. Forced multiplayer means that my choices in the previous games and in ME3 will mean nothing when it comes to the ending... it's all about how much time I put into multiplayer... on a SINGLEPLAYER game. Seriously, what the heck?

Anyway, as far as the patch goes, EA does not patch a game more than once in 99% of the cases. While Bioware may have realized that to fix the problem they simply had to give us back the options from ME1 and ME2 in ME3, but we wont see that fix until they fix everything else EA is allowing them to fix. Then 2 weeks and $40,000 for certification on XBOX (I don't know time frames or cost on PS3). Don't expect a patch for another couple weeks.

A warning to all on here: Be very careful what you say. I spoke the truth on one of the Battlefield forums and was banned, not only from the forum, but also from playing the game on my 360 for a week. EA does not care about freedom of speech or consumer rights/laws.

The only thing we can do, is stop buying EA games, if they start losing money, they will be forced to change their business strategy or go out of business.
As for Bioware, that means no buying their games/DLC either. There is no way they did not know how EA works and they chose to sell themselves. Bioware did this to themselves.

Just throwin' this out there.... I liked DA2.

On topic, I've got high hopes for the patch. A bit disappointed the patch is necessary though. They should have used hardcore fans as beta testers. This would have been caught and on top of that it would have been obvious how important this was. I think half the problem was the mentality "Oh they can just remake their face." If a fan was used as a beta tester they would have seen early on how adamant people are about this.

Just one more thing, I've read a lot of people saying things like "Why have you waited this long...?" or even the respectful kudos to us for waiting this long. For me it's simply I try to play but out of disgust I turn the game off. I've been using this character since 2007. It would be like trying to play Metal Gear Solid and instead of David Hayter doing the voice it's someone else.... it's just not the same...

I'm sorry but you're wrong. Yes I'm upset that EA bought out Bioware and it most certainly ruined Bioware. But Bioware did not sell themselves to EA. They got bought out by EA. There's a huge difference. Bioware had no power in the decision. Businesses essentially can be bought by the highest bidder. And seeing as Bioware has nowhere near the amount of money that EA has there was nothing Bioware could do.

They could have protested that by leaving the company and going to another studio.  Happens all the time.  If I recall correctly, quite a few Blizzard folks left when they were "acquired" by Activision.

By staying on, they are just as complicit, so I still lay the blame for this massive fail at their feet.  EA, Bioware, doesn't matter, they're one and the same to me, now.  They're both at fault.  EA might be at fault for forcing the game out with this bug, but Bioware is at fault for it existing in the first place.

So blame either one, or both.  No matter how you look at, it's still completely broken, and has been broken for a month post-release, and we get like 2 official posts on the topic in said month, and a handful of PR-speak from someone who clearly has no idea what's going on, and just repeats the same thing over and over.

EA tried to buy Rockstar when they were about to release GTAIV, before that they bought RenderWare to keep them by the balls to which R* droped RenderWare and wrote their own engine from scratch.

I would say it IS posible to keep EA from buying your company, is it easy? probably not, but there is precedent.

I'd plegde some money on a Kickstarter campaign to get BioWare back :D

There is no point in bashing this guy.  He and bioware have made it VERY CLEAR the don't give a **** about what you think or this problem.  This is fact.  With no official response and only two vague posts by Mr. "community manager" on a thread with over 6500 replies and over 110k views.  This isn't us crying about our opinions on the ending or small bugs either.  This game is broken and we get nothing.  THEY DONT CARE!  PERIOD!
