Am I the only one who hasn't opened their game due to this bull****? If this isn't fixed by the 11th then I am returning this game.

Honestly, you probably should just return it now.  I don't think it'll be fixed by then. Plus even if you had to buy it again, it's discounted now right?  Or would you be losing out on pre-order bonuses?

Nope. No useful updates.

Makes me sad :crying: ... but I shouldn't be complaning, I do feel bad that other fans didn't enjoy the game because of all the problems ... I'm just playing because it's like a book I've been reading for the past 5 years, I just can't bear to put it down, no matter how bad it is ... I just can't bring myself to start it with some version of Shepard that I didn't play with for the past 2 games :(

YES, YOU SHOULD BE COMPLAINING.

This is beyond retarded. Now my third weekend that I am unable to throw myself into this game because Bioware thought nobody would notice or didn't care too much about transferring their characters.
One day somebody, somehow is going to get real fed up of these companies releasing half baked products and start legal action. It seems to be getting worse and happening far too often these days.

It's nice to see that i'm not the only one who is upset about this. I just want to say to bioware that i was looking forward to this game for a long time and even more when the day came to pre-order the N7 Edition. I get home and i import my character only to see that it is some weird looking guy that doesn't look remotely close to what i had in part 1 & 2. so for weeks now i've been forced to stay away from forums, friends who play this game and anything that is ME3 related so that the story doesn't get ruined and it is quite hard to do seeing as parts of the story are starting to reach me some how some way and its being ruined. i find it very unfair that majority of the mass effect community was able to enjoy the game in its entirety while i'm still waiting on that amazing gaming experience that was told we would be able to engage on when the game released. i know you guys are working on the solution and a lot of companies would take their sweet time or none at all to do anything about it so with that i say thank you BUT having to have waited this long to play the campaign is starting to get ruined for me. i know it was my choice to wait it out but at the same time it shouldn't have been a choice for anyone to make. every person who owns this game should have been able right then and there. i want to know is all your doing for those that had to go through this is just make the patch and call it a day or are we going to see something good come our way for the major inconvenience. now im not looking for a big DLC content or anything like that to come our way but maybe like an "apology coupon" sorta speak. like a really really good weapon pack/armor or something to show that, hey this was our bad and that you can be like hope this makes it up and helps make your long awaited game experience in the campaign worth while. I hope someone takes the time out to read this and consider what was said here. I love the ME franchise and hope i can continue to support it but don't make us afraid to give you our money so that you guys can continue your amazing work. I thank you for your time Bioware.

It's people like this Bioware should be listening to. The mainstream media may be running with the furure surrounding the ending and the impatient gamers that rushed through to it fast enough to generate the headlines but its genuine, honest gamers like this (and I'd like to think myself) who love the ME games so much that they are prepared to forego the game they waited so patiently for, pre-ordered, etc etc just because nobody thought people who bought Mass Effect 1 in 2005 might have dreamed of utilising the character creation tools. I have nearly recreated *my* Shepard. It's not quite right, but if I could import the face I have used for six years instead, I'd have a whole lot more respect for Mass Effect and for Bioware.

No one is going to listen to this because:

a) bastards
B) No paragraph breaks

Sorry, but what exactly do you want to hear?  An hourly report of "we are still working on it"? I haven't touched the game either as I can't import "my" Shepard, but I am patient. They are working on it, and the fix will be ready when it's ready. No amount of shouting "WE WANT UPDATES NOW" is going to change how long it'll take. ;)

It might change how STUPID they think we are.

I then looked at the box and realized what had happened... EA. Bioware sold themselves into slavery.

There is no way they did not know how EA works and they chose to sell themselves. Bioware did this to themselves.

I'm sorry but you're wrong. Yes I'm upset that EA bought out Bioware and it most certainly ruined Bioware. But Bioware did not sell themselves to EA. They got bought out by EA. There's a huge difference. Bioware had no power in the decision. Businesses essentially can be bought by the highest bidder. And seeing as Bioware has nowhere near the amount of money that EA has there was nothing Bioware could do.

They could have protested that by leaving the company and going to another studio.  Happens all the time.  If I recall correctly, quite a few Blizzard folks left when they were "acquired" by Activision.

By staying on, they are just as complicit, so I still lay the blame for this massive fail at their feet.  EA, Bioware, doesn't matter, they're one and the same to me, now.  They're both at fault.  EA might be at fault for forcing the game out with this bug, but Bioware is at fault for it existing in the first place.

So blame either one, or both.  No matter how you look at, it's still completely broken, and has been broken for a month post-release, and we get like 2 official posts on the topic in said month, and a handful of PR-speak from someone who clearly has no idea what's going on, and just repeats the same thing over and over.

True. Believe me I'm not defending Bioware. Both Bioware and EA are at fault if you ask me. But I remember when EA bought Bioware they said that Bioware would still remain independant and EA wouldn't force decisions on them. Which was a complete lie of course. So the folks at Bioware could have decided to stay with Bioware because of those pretences not knowing they were lied to.

Very interesting, since EA customer service told me this:

"Please note that as you have been suggested to post your issue in Forum, you will get update as soon as our developers respond to your problem, so I request you to keep track on your issue in Forum, whether it is answered."

So, on the forum they tell us to go to customer service...customer service tells us to go to the forum...

Good job Bioware and EA. Keep giving us the ****ing run around.

EA tried to buy Rockstar when they were about to release GTAIV, before that they bought RenderWare to keep them by the balls to which R* droped RenderWare and wrote their own engine from scratch.

I would say it IS posible to keep EA from buying your company, is it easy? probably not, but there is precedent.

I'd plegde some money on a Kickstarter campaign to get BioWare back :D

Bioware had nowhere near the amount of income that Rockstar does so it's easier for a company like Rockstar to stand a fighting chance. But if I remember correctly didn't Microsoft buy out Rockstar.

The multiplayer global operation this week rewards you for promoting multiplayer characters into your singleplayer game. How is this supposed to work for those of us who are patiently awaiting the patch to allow our characters to be imported properly?

I posted this same question in the multiplayer forums, apparently they will sit their as war assets and be available for any games you start later. Apparently.

Saturday morning, a chance to play my game.

Oh wait, I cannot due to a bug which occurs right at the beginning of the game that should have been picked up in testing.

Great.

Next time I buy a game with always on DRM remind me to thank you.

DoctorEss wrote...

Stealing isn't the right word.  To steal is to take an item and deprive it's owner of it's use.  Whoever made a pirated game still owns the code.  Call it illegally copying, or something.  "Stealing" is an incorrect term, from a grammatical standpoint.  Sorry, literary nerd, /nitpick.

Actually, stealing is taking someone property without permission or legal right. It has nothing to do with depriving it's owner of it's use. And whoever made the pirated game does not own the code. EA still holds IP rights. This still counts as stealing.

You make no sense.  Whoever made the game doesn't own the code, but then they do?  The developer/EA still own the code.  Why would you say they both do and don't?

Anyway, stealing, as a word, still implies the illegal transfer of something away from someone.  As code is infinitely propagatable, you can't "steal" it, as such.  You can illegally copy it, you can illegally download without purchase, but you can't technically "steal" it.  Just from a grammatical standpoint.

To make an example, if I get in your car, and drive it away, I have stolen it.  If I somehow made an exact duplicate of your car, and drove that away, did I steal your car?  Or did I copy it?  Further, let's say the act of somehow duplicating your car without permission is illegal.  Then I have made an illegal copy of your car.  I didn't steal your actual car.

Regardless, my grammatical nitpicking is really beside the point.  I don't really expect anyone to change their vernacular just because I'm irked by terms that aren't quite right, and I think it's a bit silly for him to come on here and announce he pirated a game.

A better protest is returning the one you purchased.  That will affect them a lot more.  I intend to do just that.  They've made me wait a full month with no patch, no answer, no nothing.  Can't play the game I bought, so, why should I have it?  I'd possibly repurchase it when they fix this, but as they'll probably make people wait until after PAX, I highly doubt it.

EA steals from us by restricting content to later have us pay a premium for, and by selling us products that don't work as advertised. They may as well just take money from straight from our wallets for nothing.

I will NOT criticise anyone for downloading their games until they start treating us with the respect we deserve.

But the only way to really hurt them is to not play games they publish at all, and tell everyone you can not to play them also.

No, they bought Bungie.
They (MS and R*) did enter a deal in which all DLC (Lost and the Dammed and Ballad of Gay Tony) was to be xbox exclusive for some amout of time, hope they learned from that for GTAV.

Wow, I go to check out the above site from someone's sig, and who is the Femshep example on the site? MY Femshep! Very pleased to see she's the female figure head of the campaign, although that ME2 shot isnt her best, see here for what she really looks like:  http://social.biowar.../albums/1324447

Can I suggest the website author put the Sigourney Weaver Alien and Aliens example, with Bette Midler (or similar other inappropriate face) for Alien 3.  It's go underneath the Die Hard example nicely.

It's really sad to say that I've had the game nearly 1 month and still haven't played my import.  Running with sheploo for now, and replaying ME2 to fill time.

I had the same problem, but after a few days of waiting I ended up finding my own solution. Hopefully it'll help someoone else out. I never deleted my mass effect 1 saves, so I:

1) popped in ME2
2) imported the face I wanted from ME1
3) pressed start during the first mission
4) went to the power page,
5) wrote down the code for my shepard's face at the top of the screen.
6) popped in ME3
7) Imported the ME2 file I wanted
8) Put the copied code in.

From what I noticed, it was about 80% accurate, but close enough for me to tweak what I didnt like. Good thing I didn't wait for a patch.

Exactly. (Actually, some people over here might be either too lazy or too frustrated to even try this) Eventually my Shepard looked exactly like the one from ME1 except for the hair, which was similar.
So we don't even need MassEffectTools to fix this.

The problem is, people who imported from me 1 (such as me) do not have  face code. ME1 imports do not have face codes.

Uh you guys know this is the same result ast the YAML (mass effect tools) right?  The YAML just generates the face code.  The only difference is that the way described above fills in the gaps the YAML method doesn't calculate.

Either way, you'll be happy or you won't.  The majority of us aren't.  More power to you guys that are okay with "close enough"

Two wrongs don't make a right. Stealing content is counterproductive, it leads to things like SOPA, drm, cd keys, all that fun stuff we hate. Stuff that wouldn't be around if people weren't taking things without paying for them.

Like you said, the best way to show EA that we are not happy is to not buy their games.

I don't approve, but I don't disapprove either. I think if you like the game, you should pay for it. I don't think you should pay for, or buy any games from EA.

f you want an EA game, buy it if you wish, expect it to be ****, and download a pirate copy so you can mod it and avoid their ****ty drm.

Remember playing a pirate copy isn't illegal if you own a copy, no matter what they want you to think.

Sorry, but stealing property and claiming you're maintaining the moral high ground is just a moronic argument.

You want to play it, but you're not willing to pay for it? Can you not see the massive juxtapossition of that statement? And then you argue it's not theft?
You know, if you were that concerned about it you could always buy a second hand copy. That way you don't have to break the damn law to make your stupid point.

I can't get my head around the stupid justifications people make for their piracy, it's like stealing something is okay as long as you're really angry about having to do so. You're part of the problem and your actions help no-one.
