What's a troll? Aren't those just in stories?
Idiot. No I can't cure cancer, but I do donate to the cancer society, I do my part to help kids who are hungry, I'm not the greatest ever but at least I have my priorities straight.
274 pages of crying and not one of you makes sense. Have a good day, you are all worse than Hulk Hogan!

Hey, what about the homeless population? And the mentally ill? And the victims of domestic violence? And the disabled community? And the abandoned elderly people? And those who have been tortured/raped/kidnapped/killed/robbed/assaulted/stalked/mobbed/discriminated/bullied??? Not so sure you have your priorities straight :o

Btw, I've been having issues with my ADSL connection... God forbid I would even dream of making a complaint to my ISP, that would make me such a miserable egocentric jerk!

PS Iron, I'm afraid you've just run out of toilet paper... But hey, there are people starving and dying of cancer, you cannot afford to waste time on such trivialities!

It's pretty much a given that it was caught during Q&A, but it was deemed ia minor issue and let go to production with the issue unpatched. There is no way that this was missed.

Even more reason why people should be upset!

While on a much smaller scale, this reminds me of the debacle that Kalypso faced when there was a fatal bug in the game when Tropico 3 was released.  Turns out when folks played in the sandbox mode (which is the preferred mode of play for most people), there was a bug that locked the game up when an island/city reached a certain population level.  Basically if the island grew and you saved the game after a certain point, that save file was rendered moot.  I remember even for small game, players were totally incensed.  Kalypso's boards were bombed with angry posts (to the point the admins there pretty much deleted all related threads to the problem and banned a bunch of users who were making valid points/not being a jerk).  If that game generated so much heat, I really can't blame people here for going postal given this is such a high-profile trilogy with jacked up expectations.

Just want to echo what Lion has been saying, we have no update right now but we're absolutely working on this as priority. As has been stated before we've fixed the issue and as soon as it's passed QA tests by our own BioWare team, Microsoft and Sony it will be released to you. This is called "certification time" and isn't 100% under our control on how fast it can be deployed.

Now, if I were you I wouldn't care for the reasoning behind the delay, I would just want to know that people are working on it and that it is coming. It is. When? Unknown at this time. Not the best answer, believe me I know.

I'm sure Chris will blast out the announcement as soon as we know more.

Once again we understand what a pain this is, and are doing our upmost on getting the patch to you as soon as possible.

I for one am glad even for the "no update" update. It lets me know you haven't forgotten. Much appreciated.

Ladies and Gents

Let me start off by saying the following comments are in no way meant to pick sides. The face import issue is a major disappointment in my eyes and is inexcusable, but that won’t stop me from being civilized.

I sincerely doubt that any Bioware employee is going to give you the answers you want right now. A lot of you, myself included, would love to know how this happened, but more importantly I want to know that it's fixed and a patch is coming, which Bioware has confirmed.

Chris already confirmed the issue is fixed, “We have fixed the issue of faces not correctly importing into Mass Effect 3…” The take away from that is that if you could not import your face before, you will be able to after the patch has been applied. I’m not sure why some people are further complicating the issue and still asking what exactly was fixed. Bottom line, your face will now import successfully. If it doesn’t then feel free to fire away the complaints to Chris and company but he basically said the problem is resolved, and I don’t see a point in further pressing the issue.

I can relate to Bioware. I used to work in a HelpDesk department and End Users constantly asked our team for updates, ETA’s etc. Our response was pretty much the same to every one of them, “We’ll get to you as soon as we can.” I never promised dates, because they can always backfire. I only alerted the End User to a concrete finish date when I myself knew for sure it would happen. In that respect, I know how they feel.

Providing us with even an ETA on when the patch is released is pointless until they themselves know for sure. YES, this is an unacceptable situation. YES, this was a major oversight on Bioware’s part. YES, fans who have not played the game yet, myself included, for about a month now are tired of waiting. But you know what? If you want to play the game, then wait for the patch. You have every right to return the game to whichever retailer you purchased it from, provided that your return policy window is still open. You can sell it to GameStop and hopefully get half the price back if you want. But if you still want to play the game you have to stick this out to the end. It’s unfortunate, but it’s reality.

By all means, let Bioware know you are frustrated about this situation. Let them know how you believe they dropped the ball on this. Let them know that after this you’re not buying another product from them. Just be civil and realistic about it.

Thank you for such an informative post. It's nice to be told things that we already know. Any chance you could post something with NEW information. Or are we just going to keep hearing the same garbage just from different moderators.

You people at Bioware need to stop being so condescending. How many times are you going to talk about "QA" and "certification time". Yes, while an ETA would be nice most people have other questions that you can't bother to answer. Just try reading some of the posts in this thread for a change and maybe you'll find one.

People (like me) are asking what, exactly, was fixed because simply supressing the error message on import will not actually fix the issue of missing facial assets causing many of us to be unable to recreate our character's faces with any degree of success. it does make a difference, as removing the error message will not actually fix the underlying problem.

Edit: Importing without error does not necessarily equal successfully importing your save.

This.

We want to know more. Not just an ETA but an explanation would be nice. I mean is that really too much to ask.

This is all fine, but can we get an answer to the question as to whether the forthcoming fix also fixes the faces looking different or not?  Considering this is not new information we're looking for, but simply clarification on information already given, I do not understand why it is such an immense problem to get a simple, straightforward answer to a simple, straightforward question.

fruton wrote...

2. Did you add the features necessary to the character creator, meaning that each slider now has more options?
3. Are imports now perfect, or does it import what parts of the face work, and then give default settings for those that don't?

I can't see why the information above can't be given if the patch has already gone to cert.

Clarian wrote...

If you were me, you would also want to know the answer to this question, which Bioware has not yet provided:

Will
the fix change how my face imports if I'm currently not getting an
error message, but my Shep looks way different from ME2? Or will it only
change things for people who get an error message?

Examples in this thread: social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/323/index/9739936/

In other words, when you say "people are working on it" - what is "it"?

I havn't read this entire thread, but it seems to me that what these people are asking is the important question right now.  I understand bioware can't give us exact dates or any of that other stuff, but surely they could fill us in on exactly what the patch will do for this issue.  That question seems like it should almost be it's own new focused thread, because it's so important and really demands an answer.

Mine won't import at all, so I'm going off the word of other people who are saying even successful imports have issues and often don't look right.  I also tried to manually re-create my face, but struggled to achieve much success (and other people have said that some faces are bassically not createable in ME3).  So will this patch end up not just letting me import, but giving me something that looks extremely similar to my previous shepard? Or will they fix the "import" only to give me a vauge likeness?

That's an important question because it's about a lot more than simply "satisfying my impatience."  It actually affects what course of action I take.  If I'm going to end up with a faithful version of my old face, I'll wait until the patch to play the game.  I'll wait frustratedly and be upset, but I'll wait.  But If I learn now that even a "successful" import will still only be a vauge likeness to my old face, then I'll be even more frustrated / angry, but at least I'll know I might as well just go ahead and play now, either by manually re-creating my old face as best I can, or by just starting over, and mentally ret-conning the idea that this is what my Shepeard always looked like.

The first option will leave me frustrated / angry.  The second option will leave me more frustrated / angry.  But neither situation will ****** me off as much as if I continue this long wait because I'm under the impression the issue will be completely resolved, and then it turns out I end up having to go with the same "vauge manual re-creation or start from scratch / ret-con" that I could have done a while ago.

Bottom Line - yeah the issue kind of sucks, but it's a VIDEO GAME and there are much more pressing problems in this world. Ok, not as extreme as cancer and hunger, but think about it. Losing your job, death of a loved one, money....these are things to WORRY AND COMPLAIN ABOUT...not that your face doesn't look the same in a video game. No Hope for the Human Race....sad really.

I'm not always a fan of seeing folks cry foul and sling mud for no reason, but clearly there are issues here that definitely seemed justified. I think it may be a gray area when it comes to subjective interpretation of how games should/could end, but in the case of the face import issue I think consumers have every right to vent about this. It is something that should have been caught ahead of time ...

as far as PR goes - for Bioware this is a disaster

I can't believe after 6865 replies on this topic, over 120000 views, Chris didn't update this thread and posted info regarding this into a thread less than 5 hours old on the matter.

To funnel all this crap into one thread by locking anything else even mentioning face import issues, and then update this in another thread is borderline insulting. Are you trolling us Chris?

The thread is here.

It's clear BioWare and EA could care less about everyone having a heart attack and stroke over this.

275 pages of pissing and moaning...and did it make you all feel better? I sure hope it did. Every post is the same

"Why did this happen!?"
"What's the update!?"
"When is the patch coming!?"

Do you think they care, they have your cash...they made a bundle of money off this game and it's probably the last one, they have no reason to rush the patch (if it's even real).

The YAML fix works FINE. Sure it's not exact but it's damn close, in the cutscenes sometimes I couldn't tell the difference. The nose and lips are off, that's all.

I've beaten ME3 twice with my Shepard and even started a new game with a "FemShep" as you call it from scratch. I'm enjoying the multiplayer and have 100% readiness

In the meantime I started a new Mass Effect 2 game and when you play that one, you realize how far superior that game is to ME3's single player anyways.

Conclusion - not worth the time to cry about face importing.

"Could care less" = has the potential to care less than they currently do, ergo, they care.

I believe the phrase you're looking for is "Couldn't care less", as in, there is no possible way the party could have less care.

That said, begone, troll.

Anyone who acts like they don't know that the YAML only works if you used assets that still exist in ME3, therefore rendering it useless for a ton of people's Shepards, is a troll.  It's been mentioned dozens upon dozens of times.  You're trolling for the sake of trolling, and you're very, very bad at it.

wow. simply wow. it has been almost a month now and besides the updates from chris on march 9th and 21st, there has neither been any real message from the devs (let alone an excuse to all the die hard-me-fans), nore an eta for the patch. -- just try to picture the following: microsoft releases windows8 and there's a day-1-bug in the installation process that denies you to upgrade your system. and now imagine this: they let customers wait for almost a month without a fix. "impossibru", you might say... -- but hey, we're just gamers, right? bw can treat us like ****. :f

Apparently it's a much more serious issue to complain about people complaining about a video game.

If art criticism is so sinful to you, why are you even on this forum?  If we're not supposed to talk about ANYTHING but our financial status and the vital status of those close to us, why are you on a forum that's about video games?
