Used the tool and now have a decent femshep! A bit texturally different but then again, so is the entire game, lighting too.

I still don't believe this. I know ME3 will rock my socks off but this very critical and yet easy to spot glitch ruins the whole game for me. I cannot even start it. Even worse, people gave BioWare a heads-up a week before launch because of import problems with the Space Edition.

I too will not be playing. I did have a go at the editor last night just to see how close I could get him. The shape of his head is basically exactly the same, but the eye brows, eyes, mouth and nose (at profile) are all wrong. They could maybe be related, but they aren't the same.

I was hopeful when I went to bad last night that we'd see the OP updated. How foolish was I. Bioware's communication on this issue is almost as disgusting as the issue itself. I'm sympathetic to the dev process, and the fact that a solution may take time. I'm not sympathetic to being left in the dark. They better have a real fix for this or they damn well better add refund information to the OP.

On the plus side, I did also find Chris Priestly's Twitter - someone asked him about it a couple hours ago, and he claimed "the face issue is being worked on, but no eta on a fix."

Well, that's good to know at least.

I was as mad as most of you Tuesday morning at 03:00 am when I finally had the disk downloaded on my hard drive and had beat the Reckoning demo. I jumped on ready to take on the reapers. Then was denied MY shepard's face. I got right on the internet and seen I was not alone. I thought about what to do. I desperately wanted to play but I couldn't play without MY shepard. So I went to work. After about an hour and a half of messing with the custom creator. I got a dang near twin.
Now During the 1st few cut scenes I was really focused on him. Too the point I was not even paying attention to what was being said too much. At first I could tell there was small , and I mean small differences in his cheeks and stuff, it seemed a little off and I was ready to put the game down and not play until there was a fix. But there were enough cut scenes that after the 1st few I was convinced It was so close I would be ok. The difference was so small and the game was so good. I keep wanting to play. I'm glad I did. Because he is so close to the same and now that I'm into the game away's I can't tell any difference. From him and my other shepard. If I were to be able to compare photos of them side by side I might be able too. But since I can't In the game, and all I'm seeing is his face I can't tell them apart.
I know this is not everyone's fix. I know its not an excuse on bioware's part. And I'm a bioware fan boy. I just wanted to put this out there for anyone on the fence. If you spend some time you should be able to get really close and the game is so good. If you can get close about 2 or 3 hrs in you won't be able to tell a difference.

FemSheps are getting the absolute brunt of this. My Shepard is basically inachievable. I came close by working at it for hours, but I'm just not feeling it yet.

This may also be true.  Mine is a male shepard so I can't speak as to the female shepards.

Very good to know indeed.

I must say, I'm impressed that some of you guys have managed to play with Sheploo or with another Shepard design, god knows I wouldn't be capable of doing that, so Bioware better fix this quickly.

But.... they have our money. Why should they rush to fix it, their mission is complete.

Yeah, I am extremely close to the decision not to buy Bioware games anymore. The way they handled this is criminal.

You cant be serious......It's a minor flaw thats being worked on. Even saying that its criminal is ridiculous. What if your power went out due to unforseen reasons and you couldnt play. Would you consider that criminal?

A minor flaw? Maybe for you, but not for me, the game as it is now is unplayable for me. Knowing something is wrong for a very long time (which Bioware did know, they couldn't have missed this), and not informing the fan base about it is criminal as far as I am concerned. If I had known this, I wouldn't have bought the game (at least not until the issue was fixed).

It might be (depending on the reason for the black-out), but it is irrelevent, since that wouldn't be Bioware's or EA's fault.

So you're telling me based on your assumption that they didnt know its criminal?  Wheres your proof?  I for one dont think they knew about it and I have about as much proof as you do regarding that fact.  Its not gonna kill you to wait a few days to play the game.

Logic is my proof, if the game was tested at all prior to launch, at least one person would have noticed this, while if they didn't bother to test the game properly, then thats just another "screw you" from Bioware to their customers.

Besides, this was pointed out to them after the demo came out, so they have known about it for over a week, but they only acknowledged it yesterday.

I didn't pay money to recieve a defective game and to be lied to/decieved, knowlingly selling defective products to your customers without telling them that the product is defective is criminal.

Well, going to attempt playing so this message should get an edit :)

I got about 4 hours into ME3 last night after having to rebuild my original ME1 (xfered to ME2) FemShep Vanguard... but I think I'm going to scrap the game. She just doesn't look or feel right to me, and I'm having a hard time with it. I think redoing those four hours would be worth it. *sigh*

I have one ME2-only playthrough (my male Infiltrator), so maybe I'll swap over and start him up. All my other playthroughs are ME1 + ME2, so I'm reasonably certain they'll be munged, so why bother at this point?

Worst thing is in ME2 you must wait till cinematics ends to rebuild your ME1 character but still there is no code to imported ME1 character(360).
So I left the campaign and go to MP and I get out of map glitch!
hehehehe
No luck with ME3 yet.

At this point I wonder If bioware owes some kind of compensation to there costumers for this most important defect that has rendered the game unplayable to many off use because it truly is.

I tried re-creating my FemShep lasy night, after a lot of fiddling I got it looking ok, but not great. I'm trying to play the game, but it just doesn't feel right. The more I play with my Fake Shep, the more it feels like ashes in my mouth. This isn't the character I've gone on so many adventures with, just a cheap duplicate.

I feell like I was lied to and cheated by a company I've been a long-time supporter of.

For someone who took a legit 2 hours getting their face PERFECT, yes, this is a big deal.

The whole draw of the original Mass Effect AND the trilogy in general was the import feature. To see that pushed to hte back burner while other things were more prominently featured (possibly to appeal to a larger audience and increase sales) is very insulting.

I hope thjey are able to fix this. It won't be the same if it isn't.

No, they don't.

While this is a major blow to a lot of fans, myself included (though I think I may be ok as I remember tweaking my Shep in ME2 a little), it doesn't render the game unplayable in any way. You're still at perfect liberty to take the default face or make a new Shep to take into battle, but you choose not to and that's the important difference.

It's close, but damn, the change from ME1 to ME2 is subtle, and then in ME3 she just looks like another person. :(
This is pretty much what I experienced.

Played 2-4 hours with a FakeShep and came to the exact same conclusion. I'm scrapping the game I started and starting over. I've been tweaking my settings and I have a very close rendition, but it's just a copy; it doesn't feel right.
