This one still cannot import its Commander Shepard into Mass Effect 3. This one notes it has been almost a month since the game's release and two weeks since any update on the issue. Sadly, this one would not be surprised if the delay continued well past the 30 day mark...

I don't like what BioWare have become since going to EA. I think I'm just about done with them, and I have a feeling others are too.

Electronic Arts. What a joke. A company called Electronic Arts who are vocal about games being business not art. Misleading much?

Has anybody tried asking Microsoft about the status of this patch review? It's a long shot I know, but I miss having a face.

BioWare is just a name to draw money these days. A BioWare studio making the next Command & Conquer? It is just a rebranded internal studio to draw money. But I guess this will have quite the opposite effect with the ME3 fiasco.

The PC version is now £17 new in the UK. And to think that suckers like us on this thread paid the full price of £40 (or more for the collectors edition), and still can't play it.

It's things like this that lead people into piracy.

What I'd like to know is,

If the issue is fixed, but we're waiting on patch certification... why are PC players still waiting?

You don't need Microsoft/Sony certification to release a PC patch...

wondering the same...

the answer might be, that most ppl play it on consols & they don't wanna ****** of the majority of the money the get.

f**k that... tbh

As I said already, content of the patch may still change and I'm pretty sure this is the answer. Imagine this situation: Bioware releases the patch only for PC while console versions are still waiting to be certified. They do not get certification because someone finds an error. They need to be changed, reprogramed. At this time, the PC patch is released already and now we finds out it is broken and may cause some other failures. So it needs to be fixed again what may turn out to be much more difficult as players have already installed it! So we (they) have double problem, for PC patch has started to live his own life and now it must be reprogramed separately...

And we wouldn't want that, would we?

Hey, I know I'm late on this one but that's not certification, that's QA.

Certification is a process that all content goes through before its released to console, it doesn't involve bugfixes or finding errors. Microsoft (and Sony I assume is exactly the same, but tbh I don't know how it works over on the PSN side) goes over the code themselves to ensure it won't have adverse effects on the console itself, or XBox Live. They don't check the content of the patch for bugs or playability of any type. That's handled by Bioware/EA, and that process is called QA, which must be finished before certification.

HOW they actually certify it, or what process they go through to check it or what exactly they're checking for, I have no idea. I think the basic idea is they want to make sure Xbox Live doesn't go down because of bad or malicious code.

PC games that use Windows Live need to undergo the same process if the executable is touched by the patch, generally not for other things like data tweaks (You can see this having a major effect on some games, like Universe at War and DoW2, which for example was a big part of why Relic moved to Steamworks with Retribution).

However outside of Windows Live, PCs don't require certification of any kind, since there is no proprietary network or technology that isn't already exposed to the user.

As for PC patches "living their own life", that is being a burden because they are seperate from the console's development/edployment, I can only guess at as that's down to how Bioware made the game. Really though, the platforms shouldn't be handicapped by eachother. We shouldn't miss out on DLC or MP event weekends because they can't be deployed on the PS3, for whatever reason. Console-focused features shouldn't be witheld (say force feedback or sticky aim) because they aren't common on PC. Likewise, PC development/deployment shouldn't be handicapped by the console's shortcomings, which unfortunately is more and more the case (No text chat in MP, narrow FOV, compressed textures, etc etc...). So sure, 80% of the user base is on 360, but that shouldn't be used to slow anyone else down.

Not that it matters at this point. Obviously, the patch will come when it comes, and its looking like later rather then sooner.

Months before its release, ME3 got hyped by loads of game sites. All I read however, was how good of a shooter it has become and yes, ladies and gentlemen, we got multiplayer!

Personally, I'm not a big shooter fan, nor do I play games online. I like the feeling of being isolated from the rest of the world when playing an RPG game so I can live the experience to the fullest and enjoy the great atmosphere created by the game. And that's what Mass Effect has always been about, especially ME1.

So I got a little scared when I read all those previews about ME3 and its great shooter and multiplayer experience. I couldn't help but feel worried that the campaign would get less attention because they also wanted to include an online multiplayer mode. Worried that they would make it more of a shooter than an RPG, to broaden the audience in order to compete with other popuplar shooters. Now these were just worries based on a game that hadn't been released yet, so despite the speculations, I gave Bioware the benefit of the doubt.

But I cannot express myself how upset and disappointed I felt when the game said it couldn't import my custom face that's saved the galaxy (temporarily) 2 times already. I was worried about the campaign in general but this? I felt backstabbed and completely laughed at. It is completely impossible that Bioware did not know of this before its release and yet they didn't find it serious enough to fix it. So, true fans, who have supported Bioware all this time by buying ME1 & 2, get pushed aside for the bucks... If it wasn't for us, there wouldn't have been a ME 2 nor 3, and yet, here I am, still not being able to play this game more than a month after its release, while I see tweets flashing by of how great of a success the last online multiplayer competition was!

Thanks a lot Bioware...

ME3 had a day one patch. The problem is that the face import issue was not covered by it, they only solved it two weeks ago. But hey, you'd think that you could get the certification done over with in two weeks for a minipatch for ONE GAME-CRIPPLING ISSUE, wouldn't you? =)

One month and nothing happened... ONE MONTH!

Lets put this into perspective: it takes the moon around one month to do a full circle... the MOON is doing its job faster than you guys at BioWare!

Probably those patches were planned before the relase of the game...
Concerning the fix for ME3 faces, Microsoft needs AT LEAST 2 weeks in order to certificate the patch (if everything goes well).
But the true question is: "Why they didn't release the patch for the PC version?" (PC version doesn't need certification from Microsoft).
I think that there might be 3 answers:
1) The patch doesn't fix things as we want (so they want to avoid negative comments before the release of the PS3/360 version of the patch).
2) They simply want to have only 1 release date for all the versions of the patch.
3) PC users have a "temporary" fix, so 360/PS3 version of the patch has the precedence.

Anyway, I think that we have to wait one week/10 days more... IF EVERYTHING GOES WELL IN CERTIFICATION PHASE... why?

Because, I don't remember where, there was a thread were Bioware said that the patch entered in certification phase. From that day we need to count AT LEAST 2 weeks... so it is reasonable that the patch will be relased aroud the 15th of April (again, if everything goes well).

Please note that this is not an official response from Bioware, but only my thoughts about the relase of this patch.

One more thing... I think that they did know that the game had this problem... this is not a "very hard to replicate" bug, or a problem that occurs at certain point of the game.
This is something that happens right at the beginning of the game and, remember, importing our Shepards from previous games is probably THE main feature of the game so it is impossible that they didn't know about this bug.
Thinking about the lacking assets in ME3 that were present in ME1 and ME2, it is logic that we wouldn't be able to replicate our Shepards in ME3. This is something that even a child can understand. If you don't put a particular eyes color inside ME3 (and that color was present in ME1/ME2), how do you think it's possible to import your Shepard's face????

So they deliberately decided to release the game knowing that there was this bug. Probably they were forced to respect the relase date by EA, so they didn't had the time to fix it.

Don't you remember? They replaced the Mako with a paper thin dlc hovercraft.

Wouldn't work anyway, they have powerful biotics in their PR department that can manipulate mass effect fields to create customer service singularities. No customer service can pass the event horizon.

I hope Bioware send you the face import patch first, before it goes on general release :P

yeah. games are really expensive down there. i payed over 120$ for the CE for ME2 (PC). ordering from ebay is much cheaper and that with shipping costs.  i guess shipping games to the end of the world really costs more then the rest of the world.

anyway. still no fix. i guess they might bring it together with the ending DLC. still havent played the game for almost 2 months simply because of the face import problem and the worst ending ever in gameing history.
