Months before its release, ME3 got hyped by loads of game sites. All I read however, was how good of a shooter it has become and yes, ladies and gentlemen, we got multiplayer!

Personally, I'm not a big shooter fan, nor do I play games online. I like the feeling of being isolated from the rest of the world when playing an RPG game so I can live the experience to the fullest and enjoy the great atmosphere created by the game. And that's what Mass Effect has always been about, especially ME1.

So I got a little scared when I read all those previews about ME3 and its great shooter and multiplayer experience. I couldn't help but feel worried that the campaign would get less attention because they also wanted to include an online multiplayer mode. Worried that they would make it more of a shooter than an RPG, to broaden the audience in order to compete with other popuplar shooters. Now these were just worries based on a game that hadn't been released yet, so despite the speculations, I gave Bioware the benefit of the doubt.

But I cannot express myself how upset and disappointed I felt when the game said it couldn't import my custom face that's saved the galaxy (temporarily) 2 times already. I was worried about the campaign in general but this? I felt backstabbed and completely laughed at. It is completely impossible that Bioware did not know of this before its release and yet they didn't find it serious enough to fix it. So, true fans, who have supported Bioware all this time by buying ME1 & 2, get pushed aside for the bucks... If it wasn't for us, there wouldn't have been a ME 2 nor 3, and yet, here I am, still not being able to play this game more than a month after its release, while I see tweets flashing by of how great of a success the last online multiplayer competition was!

Thanks a lot Bioware...

You heard DA getting MP next right.  There was some noise about it around 11/30.

One month and nothing happened... ONE MONTH!

Lets put this into perspective: it takes the moon around one month to do a full circle... the MOON is doing its job faster than you guys at BioWare!

Maybe launching probes at it would help, herpaderp!

Or landing on their offices with a mako, herpaderp ! ;)

Don't you remember? They replaced the Mako with a paper thin dlc hovercraft.

Wouldn't work anyway, they have powerful biotics in their PR department that can manipulate mass effect fields to create customer service singularities. No customer service can pass the event horizon.

You forgot the Awesome Button. The PR departement will push it to make "something awesome happen". :wizard:

Hey, I know I'm late on this one but that's not certification, that's QA.

Certification is a process that all content goes through before its released to console, it doesn't involve bugfixes or finding errors. Microsoft (and Sony I assume is exactly the same, but tbh I don't know how it works over on the PSN side) goes over the code themselves to ensure it won't have adverse effects on the console itself, or XBox Live. They don't check the content of the patch for bugs or playability of any type. That's handled by Bioware/EA, and that process is called QA, which must be finished before certification.

HOW they actually certify it, or what process they go through to check it or what exactly they're checking for, I have no idea. I think the basic idea is they want to make sure Xbox Live doesn't go down because of bad or malicious code.

PC games that use Windows Live need to undergo the same process if the executable is touched by the patch, generally not for other things like data tweaks (You can see this having a major effect on some games, like Universe at War and DoW2, which for example was a big part of why Relic moved to Steamworks with Retribution).

However outside of Windows Live, PCs don't require certification of any kind, since there is no proprietary network or technology that isn't already exposed to the user.

As for PC patches "living their own life", that is being a burden because they are seperate from the console's development/edployment, I can only guess at as that's down to how Bioware made the game. Really though, the platforms shouldn't be handicapped by eachother. We shouldn't miss out on DLC or MP event weekends because they can't be deployed on the PS3, for whatever reason. Console-focused features shouldn't be witheld (say force feedback or sticky aim) because they aren't common on PC. Likewise, PC development/deployment shouldn't be handicapped by the console's shortcomings, which unfortunately is more and more the case (No text chat in MP, narrow FOV, compressed textures, etc etc...). So sure, 80% of the user base is on 360, but that shouldn't be used to slow anyone else down.

Not that it matters at this point. Obviously, the patch will come when it comes, and its looking like later rather then sooner.

Thanks for the info! I was wondering what exactly certification was. Thanks for explaining it! Highly appreciated!

Still nothing?? ah well, will wait =)

another note though, which has me a little confused..... a few who've posted in here have said they hate EA/Bioware, and they'll never play ME3, yet they continue to post on an EA/Bioware forum, demanding the issue is fixed.... =/ I fail to see the point....if you hate EA/Bioware and ME3, don't post in here, and sell the game....

Does you guys still remember the hype you felt when you first watched the full cinematic "Take Earth Back" trailer? I was shaking in my seat. I loved the trailer so much I actually purchased two albums from the music composers Two Steps From Hell. That hype has been fading away slowly but surely because of this face import issue.

Seriously!? I haven't been on this forum for around three weeks or something, because I didn't want to get my hopes up by checking in every day just to be disappointed. But, now what is it? Five weeks after release or something and still no fix? I am deeply appauled by Bioware at the moment.

Greetings Earth clan!

On the subject of face imports, I will say the most virulent of those criticizing Bioware will be deeply disappointed when the patch arrives. For the simple reason that even with identical face codes carried from Mass Effect 2 Shepard looks different (& in my case I created my Mass Effect 1 character based on the exact sliders obtained from a very good looking Mass Effect 2 Shepard).
He doesn't look worse, just different. In fact I actually changed his hairstyle to something better (more hair options in ME3).

Honestly I even prefer my new Shepard, he doesn't have the sometimes weird facial expressions that plagued ME1 & 2, he looks far more "human". I'm 7 hours in & loving ME3, so my advice is just create a cool looking Shep & enjoy the game. Because no matter what your imported face will still look different after the patch.

<sarcasm>
Why ? This game is going to have more DLC. You should be happy ! Isn't Bioware awesome ?

Well, don't expect anything for at least another week+. All the Bioware staff seems to be heading off to PAX. Remember, when you release a faulty product, rather than fix it, simply run away and find people who will pat you on the back.

That's much more important than fixing the problems in said product.
