Months before its release, ME3 got hyped by loads of game sites. All I read however, was how good of a shooter it has become and yes, ladies and gentlemen, we got multiplayer!
Personally, I'm not a big shooter fan, nor do I play games online. I like the feeling of being isolated from the rest of the world when playing an RPG game so I can live the experience to the fullest and enjoy the great atmosphere created by the game. And that's what Mass Effect has always been about, especially ME1.
So I got a little scared when I read all those previews about ME3 and its great shooter and multiplayer experience. I couldn't help but feel worried that the campaign would get less attention because they also wanted to include an online multiplayer mode. Worried that they would make it more of a shooter than an RPG, to broaden the audience in order to compete with other popuplar shooters. Now these were just worries based on a game that hadn't been released yet, so despite the speculations, I gave Bioware the benefit of the doubt.
But I cannot express myself how upset and disappointed I felt when the game said it couldn't import my custom face that's saved the galaxy (temporarily) 2 times already. I was worried about the campaign in general but this? I felt backstabbed and completely laughed at. It is completely impossible that Bioware did not know of this before its release and yet they didn't find it serious enough to fix it. So, true fans, who have supported Bioware all this time by buying ME1 & 2, get pushed aside for the bucks... If it wasn't for us, there wouldn't have been a ME 2 nor 3, and yet, here I am, still not being able to play this game more than a month after its release, while I see tweets flashing by of how great of a success the last online multiplayer competition was!
Thanks a lot Bioware...
You heard DA getting MP next right. There was some noise about it around 11/30.
